Well, if if has been lost, then make an official complaint, and it may be that your MP can get involved.

Is this a stupid question but according to the ATOS website all assessors undertake a specifically designed training course and must be approved by the Chief Medical Adviser to the DWP on behalf of the Secretary of State. Now if that is the case, why is their work being audited? Have they not been trained properly? Have they been approved incorrectly? And who is actually carrying out these audits?
Seems like the NHS all over again, they keep on adding extra layers of management to check and oversee the work that the layer underneath has done. If these auditors are not impartial who on earth then is auditing the auditors?

    Hi

I applied August 1st last year, was finally given an assessment in early December.

Atos are still auditing the report so I've waited 7 months so far.

I phone every week and am refused a time scale for a return to the DWP

Nightmare as all my other time related benefits have stopped so I'm living on cards:mad:

Every assessment, by ATOS or Capita, is audited, which is causing massive delays. The idea was to prevent so many wrong assessments, incorrect recommendations, and ever increasing appeals, but the backlog is getting out of hand.:wall:

It was also to try and stop the often non-medically qualified HCP's overriding the views and opinions of consultants.

Capita wanted to do all assessments, face to face, often in the home, which, again, is a slow process.

ATOS are, anecdotally, doing some assessments, just on paper, provided there is a lot of medical evidence etc., but whether face to face, or paper, they ALL have to audited.

The DWP cannot process a claim until they get the forms back from ATOS or Capita, so their hands are tied, with this crazy 'reform'.

I suppose, sooner or later, as with ESA, they will need to bring in a consultant to try and sort this unholy mess out.

  • Hi

    thanks for the info.

What I find so frustrating was that I was on incapacity benefit which changed to ESA which in order to get I had to attend interviews and give all the details etc. This apparently is only paid for a set period and I stopped getting this in November.

I took advice and applied for PIP in August last year and was surprised to learn that all of the previous interviews were dis regarded and we had to start again.

So as of today I have been waiting 27 weeks, it would be nice to just be told an approximate time span.

I have asked if the benefit was awarded would it be backdated? One person says yes another no

All very confusing and extremely stressfull
  • hi,i can say"dwp told my wife numerous times that pip will be paid from initial application of benefit and with time taken would receive probly several thousand pounds in back pay",so don,t worry about back pay, just like my wife worry about time taken to process claim.
