Thanks Lin, have tried these options but not holding my breath.

This may just be the lawyer in me speaking but I surely believe that there must be some kind of negligence related damages available for such cases where those waiting have had to borrow money with interest while waiting (I'm thinking the robbers at these payday loans companies willing to give anyone a fast loan regardless of their ability to pay it back)

Also, those who have incurred income related penalties such as late payment of rent or overdraft fees should at the very least be recompensed.

They are leaving us all in a deep rut and no amount of back payment is worth the financial damage we may incur while waiting for a response. I understand fully that it can take time and allowances should be made for reasonable processing times but in some cases its coming up to a year!!!! mine has been nearly 8 months with no end in sight.

All this undue procrastination is ridiculous. when I asked when my file was last worked on she said October, and I bet that was probably just an admin clerk putting my details into their system.

I'm going to look in to it thoroughly and keep everyone updated. They can't get away with this surely.

I wish you all the luck in the world, for everyone's sake, but my experience of government departments is that they are a law unto themselves, especially now.

Things, in many ways, are going from bad to farce, and the old cushion of emergency loans has gone by the board, and now seems to consist of asking the local council, or food banks.

    Let us know though.......

  • Update on my farcical situation. Had medical, 17th jan, rang atos week after , they said yep, we'll sent you an appointment letter out in post?! Explained I'd attended, turned out because their systems were down, a button hadn't bed pressed to say I'd attended. Spoke to them after they looked into it was assured it would be rectified and go into the send for internal audit pile?
Rang this week and was told, exactly the same, we'll send you an appointment out in the post, really??? Spoke to a manager who was patronising, and took great glee in my use of the phrase timeous manner, she said she couldn't possibly use that phrase as she can't say when my claim will be passed to internal audit. They've had the claim nearly three weeks and it hasn't even been passed for audit Fgs. Local mp now involved and has forwarded my concerns on. Without the extra money to help with mobility I cannot return to work, can't afford to pay for taxis as I'm on half pay. Wonder if this will be sorted before I go to zero pay in May .
Will let you know how mp gets on, my mail has been sent to.... Atos parliamentary enquiry team....

None, other than to involve your MP - there seems to be no answer to this chaos.

It seems it's turning into a complete runaway train with Capita and ASOS losing all control.

Those of us who applied in the first six months or seemed to be getting our assessments within 12 weeks, most of us at least but they've not got any sort of grip on the whole situation any more.

As for reports making it back to the DWP they seem to be taking longer and longer too.

As for the knock on effect on ESA applications.........

It's just a complete shambles which they're managing to mostly suppress from being reported in mainstream media so far.

hi. just wondering if anyone had a rough idea of how long claims take please. If anyone had already claimed and payment is now being made how long? I had waited 11 weeks untill i rang pip and got atos phone number and contacted them direct to chase up my appointment, of which i got a cancellation (yey). If i ring pip they just say as its a new benefit they cant say how long but estimate is 10 weeks. tuesday will be bang on 3 calender months since i originally claimed.
    thanks

As I have only just had my form and in the process of filling it in the time scales of waiting are quite daunting do you know if they are back dating any successful claims to the time of applying :o

Assuming the forms have been done on time, (I know on DLA, there was a date in which the forms had to be in by) it will get backdated to when you applied.

Where they are having to have every assessment, medical or paper, audited by a second person, to stop so many incorrect decisions, and appeals, the delays are getting worse and worse....

Many ESA reviews are running way behind.

I made the original phone call 15th October 2013, forms had to be returned by 15th November 2013, had the assessment Friday just gone at home 7th February, this was with Capita, so its a case now of waiting which to be honest I am not expecting to hear anything for quite some time, the HP who done the assessment did say she cannot say when as there is a large backlog
  • I'm not saying that this is going to happen in all cases where someone has a time limited award and is having to apply for PIP.
I have a time limited award that finishes on the 22nd Feb 2014. Last week (5th February 2014) I received an 'invitation' to go for an ATOS grilling and interrogation to take place on the 11th February 2014.

I questioned why it was so late in happening and with all of the goodwill in the world, a decision on the renewal is not likely until April at the earliest. ATOS told me that it was down to the DWP for not passing the papers across earlier.

I then spoke with the DWP wanting to know why I am being put in this position. Before I could say anything more, she said that all time limited awards are being extended by up to 6 months because of the delays at ATOS (Medical Services) & the DWP. She confirmed the current award has been extended to the 22nd August 2014 and admitted that this is only being done for those that complain about the delays!!!
