I was told I cant not speak even though she forgot to mention she suffers from cold although did say she has poor circulation..

This is quite a confusing thing for claimants - me included. I always understood that the 'carer' who comes with the claimant was entitled to be present at the assessment (subject to the claimant agreeing of course). Also that the carer had a right to explain matters in detail if it was felt that the claimant wasn't holding up well.
However my experience does in fact go along with what you have said. I was told by the assessor (ESA claim) that my wife could NOT come into the room with me as there was only one chair. I had specifically asked if she could to witness and record on paper what was said and what had happened.
Yet I see on this and other websites that friends, relatives etc have been allowed in and have been actively involved with the claimant when the assessment was carried out.

Who knows who is allowed to do what - the rules get made up on a daily basis it seems.

Any joy yet Chemgeek? I just recieved a brown letter, heart started racing, but it was just a letter to say they had all the info needed & apologising for the delay

yea i found out i got turned down. I received the letter last week. They only took into account the report (which is full of errors and contradictions!!!!!!) Not any of the evidence i sent them!!!
All the woman seemed to focus on was the fact im doing my PhD (doesnt mean I dont struggle!!! and work does a lot for me to do this). They say things are consistent with my medical history - well where are they looking because my medical history is massive!

One comment was looked overweight - well yes i fractured my spine!!!! and unable to try and exercise. and my surroundings were clean - i lodge with a family and they do the cleaning!!!!!!!!!!

MP is currently on the case

i scored 4 points for DL and 0 for M

    how did you get on?

  • Hi. My DLA claim runs out this coming august. I haven't received an invite to claim pip yet.

I have noticed that there is a backlog on people getting assesed\receiving a decision.

What happens if when I apply for pip and I don't hear anything till after my DLA claim runs out?

Your DLA will carry on as normal; as long as you've returned the forms and attended the assessment, if you need to have one.

I'm finding this wait very frustrating. They've had my report & paperwork since 11th March & it's been with the decision maker for ages. I know they're really busy & I'm not the only one waiting, but it's affecting my health to the point that I'm not sleeping at night. Sorry for ranting...I'm just over anxious :(

    Are you still waiting?
I got my MP invovled thats why I got a decision so quick. Just waiting for the drs to give me a letter for the mandatory reconsideration (I didnt get this originally as I can not afford the fee for the letter - so I will be living of value tinned spaghetti for a while lol)
I would contact your MP and ring daily - hope your wait will be over soon
