    Support Group

all figures are rounded and I'm ignoring his transitional protection as i don't know how much this is.
also im not including enhanced disability premium as I'm unsure if he gets it, again because his ESA id costs based.
    ESA support group £105
    Carers allowance $61
    IS top up £11
    ccarers premium £35
so around £212 plus his PIP and possible enhanced disability premium (£15)

Husband's DLA ran out on 14/11/14. He applied for pip back in June when invited to do so. Had a letter from ATOS saying they had received his paperwork and he would be contacted in due course. No further contact until a letter from DWP came saying that they had all the info and reports and would be in contact when a decision had been made. Not sure if this is a bad sign or not?
Anybody have any idea if the fact that he's not been invited for an assesment means refusal?
I should add that he has osteoarthritis and was on DLA for the pastv8 years. High rate mobility and low rate care albeit his care needs have increased in the last 2-3 years.

Thought I would update. Received a letter today confirming that PIP has been awarded. Standard rate for daily living and enhanced for mobility. Awarded until December 2018. The thing I don't understand is that PIP won't start until February but DLA award was up in November and now they say DLA will end the day before PIP starts. Very happy it's all sorted and was quick too compared to some I've seen on here.

Just to update, I have done the online application for Carers Allowance but I rang them prior to that, I asked them if I need to apply to I.S straight away for the carers premium, she said no, to wait until I hear if I'm awarded Carers Allowance.

A friend says to apply now because I can say I'm awaiting a decision for CA, I don't want to lose out on anything so can I ask if others know what's best?
    Thanks

you won't be entitled to income support until you receive carers allowance.
they will backdate it to the date of the carers allowance award anyway
  • Received a letter from HB this morning as regards a change to financial circumstances, it was for CT, they have now included PIP & added enchanced disability premium & carers premium in the breakdown, I know this might seem a silly question but if I get CA awarded as we already receive something like £3.40 IS the IS is in hubbys name now, do we then just inform them I've been awarded CA and they adjust the amount incoming to hubby or do I ask for IS? It's all a little confusing???

Also the premiums mentioned, are they just added through HB or are they extra amounts received in Income Support?

Sorry for the amount of questions but thanks for the replies x

Your OH will no longer receive any means tested benefit as you will be claiming for yourself only.
the housing benefit seems to have already been adjusted to reflect the PIP decision.
it isn't a 'cash' amount, but it means the amount of income coming into the household can be higher before it affects the HB claim.
you will receive carers allowance, which will be deducted from the income support ... leaving a payment of around £11 a week income support. they will then add £35 is carers premium that will be paid alongside the carers allowance and IS

Once again this process is leaving me really quite poorly.

I was awarded standard care in April last year, original application July '13, I was an original poster on this thread. My award was until October 2015. They now set "planned interventions" to take place a year before your award ends (not the case for everyone, certain circumstances and awards) so a PIP2 dropped through my door in October last year.

And then a combination of winter, the festive season being especially difficult for me and the worry over PIP, I am now in a bit of a state. Meds adjusted to no avail so far, sleeping absolutely dreadful even with the strong medication I'm on for insomnia and I'm basically functioning just about as badly as I ever have.

The good news, hopefully, is that I have not been called for F2F on this occasion, this off the back of being put in the support group for ESA in the autumn without an assessment too.

DWP have had my report back from Atos for about 2.5 weeks, as of Friday afternoon there was still no decision. I just can't bear it this time so have already, rather hastily I'll agree but past caring, written to the customer services team and my MP as they got things sorted for me first time around which was an absolute nightmare. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if there are aspects of PTSD, in a very mild way, associated with everything to do with PIP and ESA. Given it's already one of my diagnoses and my original saga left me in such a mess, it's not a big stretch to see that there are some relived traumas I'm experiencing.

It's just all so stressful. I am absolutely exhausted to the bones and have been for a few weeks. I will be glad when it's once again over and I so hope I don't have to go through the MR process again this time.
  • itis a nightmare i am surprised the media havnt picked up on all this . i have now been waiting 11months for my assessment. my dla ends in feb do they carry on paying it till a decision on pip is made?. the stress of it all is making me ill.

They will pay your DLA until a decision is made. My husbands ended in November and we just had the decision letter last week. DLA will be paid for 4 weeks after the decision was made and from then on PIP payments start. Hope this helps and all goes well.
