I could not believe what a shambles this PIP was until you go through it.
My daughter developed sudden sight problems and was registered blind by the doctor. ESA was sorted within weeks and at the higher rate without an assessment.

PIP is a different matter....Forms submitted and my daughter received a text saying nothing will happen for not less than 6-9 months.

I must say that I was somewhat surprised that the government benefit system is in such a mess in respect of PIP and needy people needing financial help. I am somewhat surprised that the Labour party is not bashing the government with this shambles in the media, but it just seems to be hidden by all parties.
I did write to the shadow health minister, My MP and the RNIB and so on, but I doubt it will do much good...

What an awful situation for people to go through who have need of financial help.

My daughter's situation is not so desperate as she lives with us and we can look after things, but my wife has had to give up work and could use some carers allowance, which you can't get until the person gets PIP awarded, unless anyone knows otherwise. ????
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

💖 Hi, isn't the 29th just a normal day? Not a bank holiday.. Therefore I would think you'll get your payment on the 29th hun?

Bit late to answer this but only Tax Credits are paying early for payments due on 29th. Everything else including PIP will be paid on this day.
  • Hello,
I received a letter this morning about my PIP claim.

Letter says that they have now got the information and reports they need about my condition and how this affects me and they will contact me as soon as they have made a decision.
Can anyone tell me if this means that i won't have to go for an assessment?

    Thank you

Hi Tornado, I received the exact same letter during my PIP renewal, and my award was continued without an assessment. There have been a rare few cases throughout this thread where this has been the case. Hopefully the same for you and you will hear very shortly. x

    Hello,
    Thanks for replying.
It's only 3 months since i sent off the application, i didn't think i would have a decision as soon as this.

Hope your wife gets her letter soon, nothing worse than waiting for the dreaded brown envelope, lol.

    Thanks again.

    Hello,
    Thanks for replying.
Hopefully mine will be the same, unless they say i'm not entitled to PIP. I hope they do renew it, if they don't then i don't think i can face the appeal process, not well enough at the moment.

Do you get the same amount of money now that you are on PIP?

    Thanks again.

Hi Tornado, I only applied for PIP - I had an assessment the first time round, and was awarded high rate care and low rate mobility for 2 years - but because the process took so long - I had my renewal a year before my original award was up. It took them less than 3 months to complete my renewal without another assessment, but I did include absolutely every medical letter I had received in the previous 12 months. However, they did remove the mobility component completely. Hopefully you will not have too long to wait. x
