Has anyone applied for carers to be backdated to pip claim? if so how long i it take, finally got my pip awarded now partners waiting for carers to be backdated. and i thought it was over lol
Took 3 weeks and was backdated less ESA overpayment to date of PIP claim. The backdated money came a bit later whilst they worked out what was due. My partner is self employed so we had a telephone call to ascertain his income/outgoings, claim was authorised day after phone call. Found the on line form fairly easy to complete. If only the PIP claim had been as quick and easy!0 -
Thank goodness for this site and this thread in particular. Despite never having posted here, I've been following this thread after I stumbled across it on a search for PIP advice. Posters are so helpful and reassuring towards each other, so I'm hoping for advice from one of you lovely people.
I had my assessment at the beginning of the week and have since received a phone call from DWP asking for my bank details. They confirmed I have been awarded the enhanced rate for both care and mobility and I would receive a letter within 7 days.
After such a long slog I was struck dumb and forgot to ask the obvious questions - does anyone know when I should receive the backdated money and subsequent payments? And are they paid weekly or every four weeks?0 -

Hi clairebear, I was originally awarded high care and low mobility PIP purely for mental health reasons - from June 2013 until June 2015. However, I have just gone through the renewal process - where I was not called for another assessment - and I have been awarded high care and no mobility until 2017. I could not understand why they withdrew the mobility component - without another assessment, but your posts have made me wonder. I have gone from 11 points to 2 with no explanation as to why. So my thoughts are that they are not awarding mobility any more for mental health unless you are in the most extreme phase of your illness. Just my thoughts and experiences - I hope they help. x
Thankyou for your reply. That is strange. Maybe they have looked at criteria again and realised alot of people will be entitled to mobility so are trying to change the rules around entitlement x0 -
Just to let you all know that I finally got my decision after a management reconsideration, I was awarded by ATOS standard rate care and enhanced mobility rate! It only took 23 months from start to finish. I sent my forms off in November with doctors report (which they lost), went for my assessment in July, had the decision 4 weeks later. I asked them to redo it as half of my medical problems weren't taken to account like my inability to walk!
So rang DWP today, I've been ringing every week, and the lady said it was nice to 'finally ' give some positive news. So hang there every one.Everything I know, I've learned from Judge Judy.

Hi all, don't know if anyone will remember but I have posted questions on here regarding pip timescale, I have had some great advise from everyone.. Just another question please have been waiting for descision to be made from pip claim since the 6th October when all information was sent back to dwp from capita, have phoned today and was told a descision has been made yesterday 27th November ( at long last! ) but it is not on the system, does anyone know how long it takes to go on the system? Is it worth me phoning back late today? Many thanks...0
