    Hi all,
As promised an update on my MR, I rang today and they have awarded me higher rate care and mobility! I initially just had higher rate mobility and appealed as they did not acknowledge any of my care needs. as you can imagine I am over the moon and a nice large back payment winging its way to my bank on Thursday.
Anyone who is going through the same, hang on in there and I sincerely hope you all get a good outcome. Thanks to all who have supported me through kind messages. This site is invaluable through this long and stressful process.

  • Awaiting appeal date told may be 22-26 weeks. Dwp have been given 28 days to reply to courts and myself with response to my appeal so I called dwp last week and was told they hadnt recieved anything from appeals.
I called appeals to be told they send letter and email to dwp I asked what happens if dwp dont reply in 28 days he told me dwp drag their heels as much as possible. The judge can fine them, give them an extension or just proceed without the response from dwp.
So at least its not just the customers they ignore.
I called dwp back the same day and was told they recieved it on 23rd October and she wasnt sure why I had been told otherwise.
I called again today as the 28 days is up this week to be told I will get a 5 day call back I dont hold my breath.
Anyone else had to go to appeal if so did they get a response from dwp and if so how long did it take for response any advice regarding appeals would be appreciated x

Really pleased for you Nana55. You can finally relax and start to try to get back to 'normal'. It really is such a relief when you finally get the right decision - I was lucky that I didn't have to go to MR as the whole process is so soul destroying. X
  • Thank you for replying, i phone dwp and was told they have to get it authorised because it is a large amount and its nothing to worry about. Still worried though!

Because my back payment covered 51 weeks it had to be checked and authorised by a manager. I was lucky because I had it withinb a week of being rewarded. SunshineSusie had to wait a few weeks for hers to be authorised but I think they've got the system working better now (for backpayments!). Try not to worry as it'll be in your bank soon.

Yes I had to wait for it be checked despite having the payment letter. I was told this was normal due to the amount being backdated. when it took more than five days and I was going round in circles trying to get somebody to acknowledge it was taking longer than seemed fair I got in touch with my MP she then was, somehow, able to get in touch with DWP who explained in an email that I'd been subject to a glitch in the system and whilst I was being told it was being dealt with it wasn't. I was also told that they were going to alter the system so backdated pay wasn't subject to any further authorisation. Seems like it was an empty promise?!

It is worrying but you will get it. Keep an eye on how long you wait, if it's more than five working days, call them again, if they still can't see that your payment has been processed email your mp. Worked for me. Good luck!

Great news, Cant imagine what it must have been like to have gone through having to appeal after having such a long wait. Enjoy your back pay, hopefully Christmas is going to be better for us than it was last year!
  • Hi clairebear.

I have put in for appeal, i also am waiting for a response from DWP the dead line was today, and i have had nothing from them? i may give them a call tomorrow to see whats going on, as for a call back in 5 days, they said this when i asked for MR and it never came so i would not hold much hope for any call back.

I will let you know if i get anything of them.....and if they call me or not.

can you update in here so i can see please and ours seems to be around the same times.

    Thanks

  • Hello Everybody

I am new here and have spent the last few hours reading from
    the beginning.

I have applied for PIP for the following conditions, Depression which I have had all my adult life, I'm now 50, Endometriosis which i have had for 13 years, Chronic Insomnia, Plantar Fascitiis with heel spur, which I have had since July.

Do these conditions actually mean anything to the DWP? I had a letter yesterday saying my claim was with ATOS and I may be called for interview anytime up to 26 weeks or more, or they might have enough information not to need face to face.

Would be grateful if anybody could tell me if it worth waiting that long, or longer as most of you have, should I carry on with it or would my conditions not count for anything?

    Thanks in Advance

Hi, PIP awards are not based on your condition/diagnosis, they're based on how the condition affects you in daily life. So if you're having difficultly everyday with things like washing, dressing, undressing, cooking, walking etc then you have every chance you'll be awarded. People are actually waiting 1 year and longer for assessments so you maybe in for a long wait as most people get called for assessment with PIP. I have posted a link that explains the points scoring and descriptors, take a look at it and it'll help you understand it better. Good luck. http://www.sense.org.uk/content/pip-closer-look
  • Hey guys . quick question have just found out that my pip claim has not been successful . I am asking for a MR . I have just been informed though that if my MR is accepted then I won't get the backpay to the original phone call ( 12 months) and will only get it backdatedb to when the original decision was made ??? . is this correct and if so how could they possibly justify this. Thanks in advance .
