The Goverment has pretty much said the idea is to give less people. They did argue that, at the same time, they'd be giving more support to the ones who need it most - yes, that's why ILF is due to be closed.

Your third paragraph is so true - I have numerous rare conditions. One of the side effects is my balance. The DWP "doctors", who have never seen me, claim there's no such issue.

I have also found that I have been taen more seriously after a diagnosis - but nothing has actually changed. It just seems that because I now have a piece of paper with a diagnosis, I'm being taken more seriously.

Our assessor seemed to struggle with the fact there is no treatment, you have a condition surely you have treatments!
he has anti depressants, Tablets for leg spasms and tablets for fatigue but no treatment for the condition itself there isn't any!
And a huge thing about the actual diagnosis and what tests were done. Hubby was done private under his works scheme (which didn't do us any favours at all) as there is no MS nurse support on the private network, but there was a huge importance about what blood tests he had his dx was 2008 all we know is he had far more done as they screwed what they could from them being private compaired to what he would have had at the NHS hospital but not really any idea what they were all those years ago.
I don't actually remember if they did tell us what they all were for I do remember one special one being done that had to meet a deadline to make the train to be tested in London (no idea what for ) BUT never got the results for that one so that proved how important that one was lol!

I've just received my award.. apparently the decision maker decided my claim just 4 days after my assessment according to the date of my award letter!! I'm fuming. Sounds like the DM read a completely different report to mine because I watched the assessor fill it out and she wrote completely different things to what the DM is saying. That's if he even bothered to read it properly within those 4 days. Standard rate for living component and nothing for mobility. Guess I'm going for mandatory reconsideration!!:mad:

Sorry to hear you didn't get the news you wanted. I just had my assessment yesterday, was terrifying, could't sleep the night before. That's a quick decision, so did receive your decision just 4 days after your assessment?

The decision letter was dated from the 24th and I had my assessment on the 20th so I guess so! I'm more upset at the fact that it's completely ignored everything that I answered during my assessment. I sent in medical evidence after my assessment because they had lost the documents I sent in previously, but they wouldn't have even received the medical evidence before the award was given. It's like they based the decision off of someone else's claim :(

I've had the same thing as you. Although the DM agreed I have substantial mobility difficulties and scored 12 points on the mobility side of assessment didn't award me the mobility component. Have asked for a MR. Fingers crossed they sort it out

Before you ask for that Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) you need to ring DWP and ask for a copy of your assessment report. Do this asap because you only have 28 days from the date on your letter to get the MR in. Good luck.
