I would advice you to go with your hubby and speak for him. Take extra evidence with you if possible and think before you speak because some questions are asked multiple times but in different ways and they're trying to trick you. Good luck and please do let us know the out come.

I had to go with him he wouldn't have got there alone his walking is so limited it is really a case of drop off at the door! then I park the car.
Trick questions hmmm not really the interview lasted 5 mins short of 2 hours, mostly talking, there was a huge amount of time was spent on the fact he cant prepare a meal and no he cant, I think its probably very hard for anyone to understand why! He decided to get the veggies ready Last christmas and that was only spuds and carrots for 3 and Sprouts for 2, I went out did the grave run with wreaths and visited 2 families with pressies, got back 2.5 hours later and he was still doing them!
On the rare occasion I go out I leave the oven temp already on and a meal all prepared all he has to do is turn the oven on and he always messed that up and also managed to explode a microwave meal and I still have no idea what he did wrong. so he truly cant cook a meal that is already prepared let alone prepare one.

Talking about shopping I think they might have been looking for a slip up on the size of shop,I had to tell them several time he cant shop a weeks shop at all anywhere and he cant do any large supermarket he wouldn't get from car park to door let alone do the shopping! In a small store he would only go and get the odd item and can only go to a small express if he can park right outside the door if not even that would be too far, then I often get a phone call even though he has it written down with the price and he can actually phone me with the pizza in front of him ask me which one I want and I say any but not a thin and crispy and guess which one he came home with and decided to buy 4 of them when he should only have got 2!
Also there was quite an emphasis on showering/bathing but not as much as the cooking, We do live in a disabled adapted house so we have a disabled shower ( done years ago for my daughter) but he still needs assistance with that as he looses balance even sitting and can happily fall off the chair. I think there would have probably been suggestions there is they were not already in place, like he was asked about grab rails at the toilet we have never had them we built a false wall instead my daughter was unable to hold a grab rail but a false all she could lean on which works far better than the stupid rails

He also needs help with dressing as he cant do shoes and can get trousers on but often cant get them off again.
Everything that they had been told though I think was actually assessed by what they asked him to do which I feel didn't have any bearing on his answers, my brain however works and his doesn't so I can see what they were doing and he still doesn't even several hours later! he did them all with flying colours, one question if you have a pound and spend 7 pence how much would you have left, well that was quite obviously for the budgeting and he can take 7p off a quid BUT he cant budget has no idea how much the shopping should cost and does not even check his change and its quite often short, no idea if he has been short changed or just lost it!
He also had to do a lot of movements with his hands sitting on the chair which as far as I am concerned mimicked sitting and washing there was a memory test where he was shown 3 things which were put in a drawer and asked at the end what they were, so that blew out the bad memory and they have probably eliminated all the plates, food, jars, mugs etc that just drop out of his hands as he says he has no feeling in then yet he felt the tissue touching all his fingers!
There was a examination bed in the room but I guess that is for show as there was no suggestion of getting on that for anything.
They said they wern't going to make him walk as they can see he has difficulties and then she came out with us ( walking behind to observe obviously) and he actually managed to walk quicker then that he has done for months, still his foot drag and walking like he is drunk but still quick for him!
So another waiting game I am expecting I will be back in a few weeks asking how to go about the MR, if they are scoring him on their questions then it will probably be zero!
The Staff were lovely very apologetic about how long the wait has been to get the appointment although its not their fault, Another woman there today has only waited just under 10 months when ours has been 49 weeks so they must be catching up here!
So beware people and realise why you are being asked to do these things at your f2f!
Good luck to every one still waiting for the f2f now thats now over and we are waiting for the ESA assessment lol!
  • I have put in an appeal after M.R. never changed decision. I was wondering how long has it took dwp to reconsider their decision once sent to appeal. Appeal sent me a letter last week saying it will take 22-26 weeks for an appeal date so am hoping dwp will reconsider.
Do dwp have a deadline once its gone to appeal to reconsider as I saw someone put they have 28 days to provide evidence is that for everyone's case my letter just said they have requested all paperwork from dwp but never mentioned a timescale. Anyone who has been through this and can give me advice I would very much appreciate it x
    Hi Clair bear,
I too am in for a appeal. The dwp provided evidence within 28 days in my case. My appeal date is set for January. So only a few months wait.

This just means your file has gone to be checked. They do this randomly and it's to check that Atos are doing their job properly. Nothing for you to worry about. However Atos can't tell you how long it'll be in audit for they're only saying this to make you feel better. Auditors can you keep your file indefinitely but when they've finished with it they'll send it back to DWP. It happened to me and they kept my file for 6 weeks. It just means you have to be a little more patient with a longer wait for your decision. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply I can't really complain I only applied in April and got my assessment fairly quick compared to others so what's a little more waiting it's just the unknown xxx

  • Evening everyone,

Well today's daily call to dwp has finally paid dividends and the decision was finally showing on the screen and I was told it had been available since yesterday ( although not showing when I called yesterday at approx 4pm).:j

I have been awarded standard dl and enhanced mobility. I still won't believe it though until I receive the letter but it looks like my journey is finally over.

This thread has been a godsend with support, advice and following people's journies along this very long winded process, which has seen the majority of us suffering from additional stress and worsening health issues, which we should not be subjected too.

Tonight, well I am feeling less anxious and thrilled that this is coming to an end.

Don't give up guys(not sure if my complaint and threat of mp involvement had anything to do with it) but persevere. :)

I told them about some daily living problems I have, which I should get points for, however I don't have any evidence of this, they only really have what I have told them when they were asking me questions, can I still get points for certain thing's I can't do around the house and struggle with even if there isn't any evidence but just only what I said when answering the health professional questions?

Hi all. - I can' t believe I've only just found this page!! Go on competitions page among other pages on a daily basis & only after trying to find out wait post f2f that I found you all. I applied for PIP in January and finally had my asssessment on 20/10. Chabba - my form was sent off to be audited but, for me at least, it was quick - had the assessment Monday,, got a letter to say it was being audited on the Wednesday and then got a second letter on the Friday to say the auidit had been completed and everything was satisfactory. Based on comments I have read here, do people think it would be worth me calling to see if a decision has been made some time next week? I found my assessment very stressful and feel that some of the mobility questions were quite ambiguous. I was asked how I managed in a supermarket - I explained I never go alone because I don't know when my back will give up & I was then asked how many aisles I could manage. My husband then prompted me that I always use a trolley (preferably a small trolley as I can't manage putting things in a deep trolley) and I explained that I am always accompanied - either by my husband or my teenage children. I was then asked awhether I could manage 3 aisles - I explained that I send my children off to get things & bring them to me and again I was asked how many aisles I could manage. As my husband pointed out afterwards (typically!) we shop at a small supermarket - sometimes I may be able to manage 2 or 3 aisles but that is not going all the way up and down and, if it was a larger supermarket, I would possibly not manage one, let alone three! This whole process has really stressed me and left me unable to sleep & I dread the thought of having to possibly appeal. Mind you, I feel better for reading some of these posts, so thank you all x
