Hi all, just wondering if anyone could answer my query? When they (helpline) say 8-9 weeks for a MR to be carried out do they mean from initial phone call I made to request a MR or from the date the case manager rang me? I ask because as so many of you are aware the promises of a callback never materialises within promised times. I was promised call back within 5 days actually received it 5 weeks later. I requested MR on 22nd Aug. So in a nutshell do I go from this date or 2 weeks ago when CM called.
mAny thanks for reading and good luck and best wishes to all of you.

hi thomas tank, mine took 9mths I think ot all depends where you are in the country, the waiting times are crazy I have read that if you ring on a monday morning you may be able to get a cancellation, when I rang all they said is that its in date order and appointments are system generated. hopefully you will get one soon.

After reading this I phoned up Atos about my pip claim, result.!!!!! I am being assessed on Thursday, as their was a cancellation. I rang for my claim on 28th April, just 22 weeks wait. I am on DLA and my condition has worsened, so I have my fingers crossed.
Feeling very nervous, as I have MH issues plus other conditions, so can my oh do some of the speaking for me? Also can I look at some notes I will take with me as I will forget what I say.

    Hi All,

I have applied for an appeal as i was awarded lower rate mobility and my Mr was declined, I have been in contact with the dwp to see if they have received the papers from the courts and they received them on the 16th Sept and they have 28 days from then to get them returned to the courts. I have just received a phone call from the DWP and my appeal has been overturned and they have awarded me standard care and higher rate mobility. I got my consultant to do a report for me and the DM said if that report was in with my original application i would have been awarded what they have awarded me with today. I cant thank the people on here for there advice and support. My appeal has been stopped and i am due a nice lump sum in my account for 40 weeks back pay.

Good luck to all those who are fighting to get what they deserve and good luck to all who are in the process.

Just goes to show the more evidence you give ie Gp and consultants report the better.

    KEEP FIGHTING PEEPS. XXXXX

    :T
Really pleased for you. I am awaiting the outcome of my MR. It's all so stressful, I was awarded higher rate mobility but nothing for the care component. The report I was sent did not reflect my f2f accurately at all. Xx
  • hi rosie 51 glad you managed to get a cancellation, I dont see why you cant take notes with you but unsure if your oh can speak for you as I read someones husband tried speaking for them but was politely asked not to, you are lucky you havent had a long wait :) let us know how it goes x

My claim is now completed with capita and with dwp,I know they say around 3weeks to sort it and decide but has anyone had a decision and quicker,I know 3 weeks isn't bad but I'm so desperately fed up as been going since January and now have an awful feeling they will say no,I'd appreciate hearing how long it took for you?

    Hi

I'm a little confused about this process, I have rung Atos again and been told I'm at the "Scrutiny stage". I was very polite with the lady on the phone, I know they are just answering calls but she couldn't really tell explain to me what this meant - who was scrutinising it, what would happen next or the time scale for that ? She just kept saying she only knew the 26 week time scale and everyone is working very hard to clear the back log. My call was logged on April 15th and form returned very quickly, I have been turned down 3 times in the past but really believe that was because of my naivety when filling in the forms.
I'm mid 40's and had 4 hip replacements, 1 x knee and been told I need 2 x ankle fusion/replacements and now confirmed both elbows need replacing (had the injections in both ankles twice this year and once in each elbow)

Can anyone explain the next stages of the process please ?
    Many thanks

Have you rang DWP to ask if a decision has been made? Mine took just 2 weeks from date of f2f. I do know they usually send a letter out saying they have all the evidence they need and a decision will be made shortly. Once they send that you know it won't be long. Keep ringing to ask, i did. Good luck.

Hi, April till now isn't very long at all to be honest. I would take no notice at all of the 26 weeks they tell you. Most people i've heard stories from have waited 8+ months with some waiting a full year for just the assessment date. If you do get a date for your assessment soon then you're very lucky. Once you've had your assessment (which everyone has to have) your assessment provider will send your completed report back to DWP to the decision maker. Once it's received (some take longer than others and depends on how quick your assessment provider is) if the decision maker decides that no further evidence is needed a decision will be made. I waited 2 weeks after my assessment for a decision. Always remember that PIP is about how condition affects you in daily life and not about the condition itself. Good luck.

Hi, yes your OH can speak for you. No harm in taking some notes either. To be honest i think this will help you. Good luck.
  • My form was received by Atos on 25 October 2013. TODAY I've had my f2f ! So almost a year waiting.

The nurse was very kind but I was able to spot the trick questions. We were chatting about how I had travelled to the centre and I said 'by car'. She asked if the supplied map had been helpful and when I said no, she asked how I had found the directions. I replied AA route planner. Result: answer to 'can you plan and organise a journey' answered in a simple conversation! Another question: what would I have done if I had got lost. Answer: ask for directions (which answers the question about approaching people you don't know)

All in all, it was a positive experience. She seemed to understand Rheumatoid Arthritis and how it can affect people differently.

    Now the real wait begins........
