hi all been following the thread and well done to all those awarded and keep fighting if refused! well its been 1week and 1 day since f2f and just found out I have been awarded standard rate for both happy and shocked its so quick!! I scored 10 points for mobility but I believe I should be on higher rate can I ask for an mr on it? and they do still pay me rate until its looked at? is that correct? also does anyone know what else I am entitled to as I wanna make my life easier and will use the money for things like handrails in bath and stuff x

You should be able to get handrails for the bath and lots of other aids free through your GP or physiotherapist. I got lots of free aids which have really helped.
  • You can contact disability services through your council too. I have just had handrails etc installed while on the waiting list for a stairlift. Also on the list for a wet room as the bathroom aids are no good for me x
  • Hi All,

I have applied for an appeal as i was awarded lower rate mobility and my Mr was declined, I have been in contact with the dwp to see if they have received the papers from the courts and they received them on the 16th Sept and they have 28 days from then to get them returned to the courts. I have just received a phone call from the DWP and my appeal has been overturned and they have awarded me standard care and higher rate mobility. I got my consultant to do a report for me and the DM said if that report was in with my original application i would have been awarded what they have awarded me with today. I cant thank the people on here for there advice and support. My appeal has been stopped and i am due a nice lump sum in my account for 40 weeks back pay.

Good luck to all those who are fighting to get what they deserve and good luck to all who are in the process.

Just goes to show the more evidence you give ie Gp and consultants report the better.

    KEEP FIGHTING PEEPS. XXXXX

You can also ask your GP to refer you to an occupational therapist, or you can refer yourself. Just ring Adult social care in your area. They will do an assessment on you and give you what you need to help you with daily life. My OT has helped me a lot. Please don't pay for what you need. x

    Hi Shell9486
Its always been a private number that comes up on my phone. They have rang me always around 1.30ish.
Get as much info as possible even a report from the GP or consultant to help you. Ring them a couple of days after you send the MR off so you know the have it and send it signed for so there are no excuses they have not got it, i kept ringing every couple of days as there is no time limit for MR and i also got my MP involved otherwise they will just look at it as and when. Good luck with your MR and keep us posted.

    Hi,
The auditors are people that check files just to make sure that the assessment providers are doing their job properly. Unfortunately this means they can hold onto your assessment report file for as long as they want. This happened to me with ESA and they held my file for 6 weeks. It's nothing to worry about so don't panic. It just means a decision will take even longer. As soon as it's back from the auditors your file will be sent back to DWP. Good luck.

Finally today Capita phoned to say my case with them is now closed and they have now passed it back to DWP for a decision, how long should it take now? The whole progress has been ongoing since January so am truly getting desperate, many thanks
