I've just phoned the DWP. They confirmed that they received my Report from ATOS on Friday (20th June) and it was passed to a decision maker at 8.30 this morning! She told me that they were given new instructions on Friday and that they now have to tell claimants that it can take up to 6 weeks for a decision to be made. At least the waiting is 'nearly' over. By the time I get my decision it will have been over a year since I first applied!

Omg!! Did they mention any compensation? my partner has given up work to look after me and carers allowance can only be backdated for 3months..mind you it's paltry as is PIP! You'd think we were asking for the earth but top allowance is worth only £138 a week!

Mine if the decision comes in 4 weeks time will be 42 weeks, out of curiosity the DWP these are sent to is it the local offices of DWP or would it be the one that deals with DLA in Blackpool?

It's backdated to the date you applied for PIP, you have three months from date of pip award letter to apply. Carer's allowance that is. May effect other benefits, if you get them.

It's a good feeling isn't it? Though a little like waiting for an exam result!

I'm not sure where the office I spoke to is but it is still somewhere in Lancashire! Also, they can only look on the system to tell you that the file has been received, etc, so it's possible that the actual decision maker could be in a local office. Sorry not able to be much help!

I thought any PIP award was backdated to the date of application if you were awarded a PIP award and were a new applicant.

However if you already had a DLA award and were transferring to PIP then the PIP award is granted something like a month after the decision is made.

So for example if you got High rate mobility DLA and no care but were transferred to PIP enhanced care and mobility the care award is only paid from after the date of the decision (but the DLA you are on continues to be paid until the decision is made) if that makes sense.

That's my understanding anyway, I am happy to be corrected if I have that wrong.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, however, I applied in mid Oct for PIP and still waiting. I waited six months for my assessment appointment and only got that when I did because my MP intervened, assessment was on 29 April. My report was sent to from ATOS to DWP 2 June so that's three weeks today. Has anyone any idea how much longer it may take? This whole process has floored me and I have heart issues and other medical issues too which means I spend a lot of time in bed floating in and out of consciousness whilst I wait for further investigations on the NHS, all we ever seem to do is wait!! Also DWP told me they only call with the decision if they reject your claim or if you have been awarded the standard rate is this correct? Any advice guys would be appreciated.
