I received a similar letter yesterday telling me exactly the same thing. My report was sent to the DWP/PIP on 27th May. I did not have the f2f (don't know why) as ATOS did the paper based review.

ATOS may have felt that they had enough information for a decision to be made. Whereas the f2f is to gain more information from you.

At last this fiasco has reached the medias attention! See today's BBC news online..doesn,t help people like me though...I have been waiting for 42 weeks......applied originally in essex now live in kent had f2f in harlow in January. Both Essex and Kent MPs involved have rung weekly since Jan.

I saw that too, wondered if there would be a 'challenging' interview on the today programme, listened from 7.30, no mention, though they did mention likelihood of benefit cap and 'no low hanging fruit' for ESA in news summary. Have read that it's all labour's fault, not sure how that can be so, regardless, there's nothing about what they're going to do to sort it out. Apart from blame others? In past few months I've seen that PIP delays are the fault of claimants (taking too long to fill in forms), ATOS (strangely not seen finger pointed at Capita), doctors (for not sending forms back that often weren't sent in the first place) and labour for not managing DLA properly in the first place. ESA in a mess too. 700,000 waiting for assessment and more people than ever being put onto the benefit (year on year increases). Not being cynical or anything but is there any correlation to increase of ESA claimants and drop in unemployment figures?
I'd like to see spokesperson admit it's in a mess acknowledge the additional distress caused to people already coping with a massive change in their lives and say what they're going to do to change things, for those still waiting for decisions, future claimants and those on DLA who are in fear of what's ahead for them.
I'd also like some kind of communication from DWP about my decision, and without me having to chase them up. Giving them til this afternoon then going to reluctantly, again, ask my MP if they can do anything. Was told once DWP got my report back from ATOS would be processed urgently. So far gone over the average time of 3 to 4 weeks. I'm beginning to lose my patience....

The BBC are asking for people's experiences with ESA & PIP. Have just started a new thread with the link.
  • I've just joined here and posted thread about my recent claim from my bank under the PPI section. Being a numpty I put my username in the title.
Anyway, I got reimbursed by my bank 6 weeks after I first applied.

This thread is about PIP - ie Personal Independence Payment which has replaced DLA, not Payment Protection Insurance, which you don't have jump through all the DWP's hoops for.
    Mods - please move.

Have you asked your MP if they can help? Be interesting to know if they can make any difference at the decision stage.

Are you in Northumberland / Newcastle? I emailed my MP as I'd been waiting for my assessment since last July. As a result of his assistant contacting ATOS I had a phone call 3 days later from them arranging a home visit for the following day. I know it's your decision you're waiting for but having your MP contact them seems to do the trick. By the way, as I'm in Northumberland my MP is Conservative! Good luck.

It seems that its not actually 3 weeks now to the delay is its 6!!! so they've said about another 3 weeks before I can expect a decision. That will take me to 25 weeks but any longer than that and I'm onto my MP. I feel desperately sorry for those who have waited ridiculous amounts of time and I know I've only waited 22 weeks and I shouldn't complain but it should never have got to this stage. Email being sent to BBC I think.
