lol lifeforms - they do like 'thier' spots and 'special places' don't they?

well - I didn't see Barnes til after 9.00am! because one of the grandgirls had a lie in - and he had to keep her company didn't he?
his breakfast was there for him - and the patio door was open - so he disappeared into the garden for the morning.
the grandgirls had breakfast on the decking - not what I would want for brekkie but ...............tinned peaches and toast with choc and hazelnut spread was what they wanted!
the girls went home and it was just me and Barnes.....Barnes is in a bit of a strange mood, he came in for g&t a good hour early, stalked off before I finished (!!!!!!! without his treat stick!!), sat by gate, for hours this afternoon until it started raining. then disappeared upstairs and he wont come down - not even for rattling dreamy packet!
I did notice a small black cat sitting by the gate this morning (very early I had just got up and was having a nice cuppa coffee and ciggy out the garden. little black cat sat there for a good five minutes then walked off............wonder what that is about? anything to do with Barnes strange behaviour today?

mmm Sunday and no grandkids for sleepover last night - me and Barnes had a nice lie in! we got up about 9ish, I put the kettle on and gave Barnes his breakfast.
OH got called out then so we just chilled - Barnes out in garden and me watching 'stupid TV' in lounge. weather not great - not raining but very cloudy.
about 11 it brightened up so I put chairs out. Barnes immediately claims his! and snoozes there until he decides its time for G&T. today he allowed his usual groom, with extras! after we finished and he had his treat stick he sat there gazing expectantly into my eyes so I gently combed around his 'ruff', down his front (he was purrrring like mad at this) and down his legs and he let me lift his paws and comb down them! Front paws only mind you! but that's PROGRESS! he got extra dreamies for that! I cant believe he wanted to prolong grooming and let me do his paws!
as its Sunday I go out for the afternoon (duty visit to my mother) - OH spent the afternoon on computer - so he was left to his own devices. he seemed very happy to see me when I came home, lol, kept 'yowling' at me and wanted attention.
I came on computer as there was something OH wanted me to check out and heard OH laffing his socks off outside - apparently Barnes chased a blackbird, but ran through birdbath and got distracted by wet paws............rofl. yeah the 'fearless feline hunter - stopped to lick paws dry, prey flew away'!
spent the rest of the evening sat on patio table 'gazing at hernextdoor'. Barnes I mean not OH or me!

    Hi Meri,

Glad Barnes is ok after his cooker mishap. I did giggle though at the tomato stained fur part. One of my cats will try and touch the flames of the gas fire in winter, he looks like he's warming his paws.

I think Scrappy may end up taking permanent residency at grandma's. No, "when are you taking him back" just a "Next time you come over he'll need some more biscuits" He is certainly happy there...

I think you have 'fostered him out' his missus. just like Atrix did with Barney!
talking about Barnes - today was Monday, our 'grandkid free day'! and we had a lie in, I was a bit surprised to find Barnes cuddled against me when I woke up, then I dozed a bit and he was still there...........and I finally decided to 'wake' and Barnes came downstairs with me. (was really tired today - dunno why).
did Barnes brekkie and made my coffee, and realised it wasn't very nice outside..............cloudy - and COLD! opened the door for Barnes and he sat there and LOOKED at me! nope - he wasn't going out there! then he looked over at the wall, back at me and at the wall and back at me ........I got it - rofl - No Barnes, I cant 'switch' the sun on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not like the lights!
he did eventually go out in the few minutes the sun came out - but the breeze was so cold he came right back in complaining loudly!
I combed down his back legs today! he didn't seem to like it much - tolerated it because he got treats! he keeps his fur on his legs and paws well groomed - no matts. his tummy is fine even though he doesn't let me groom it very often. I think he is a well groomed cat! but not show standard! who cares - he doesn't have matted areas, he looks ok and he seems to be happy now being groomed by me!

Tuesday, another 'lie-in' day. the grandgirls arrive after school so Barnes and I can do as we like till then! and today we liked..............cuddling on the settee! was playing with my rubber bands and Barnes jumped up beside me (scattering a few hundred bands I was sorting out, yowling pitifully at me). Searched memory banks and yes, I had provided his breakfast, fresh water and I was sure his litter trays were clean............he then stepped delicately on to my lap and sat there looking at me. I looked back, a bit nonplussed as he isn't a lapsitter, what on EARTH does he want? I tentatively stroked down his back and he sort of shivered, then edged closer - another stroke and he got closer still.......the penny dropped! he wants a 'cwtch' (Welsh for a 'cuddle' - pronounce it cutch to rhyme with 'butch').
So we had a lovely cwtch for five minutes! then I spent twenty minutes picking up loom bands!

he must have heard Atrix's car from outside - before the girls were through the door he was waiting to greet them! he squeeked at each one - he was so happy to see them.
I wondered if he recognised the sound of OHs van? I must take note and see if he comes in or comes downstairs when OH pulls up - both my dogs (deceased) were waiting at the door as his old vans came up the street! I haven't really noticed if Barnes comes in to greet OH.........I will be looking for that.

my previous 2 cats recognized the sound of my car and would come running to be let in for their dinner.
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

Our 3 cats recognise my nana's car when she pulls up, Gizmo and Misty jump on the window sill to have a look and Salem waits patiently by the door to greet them and get his obligatory fuss.

In fact a knock on the door and Salem is there waiting to see who it is, the other two bolt upstairs and peak round the banister before deciding whether the person at the door is worth coming to see.

I think my cats hear our van's reversing warning beeps when we pull in at home as they only seem to appear on the window sill when we reverse in, not when we just pull up to the door.

um - I think Barnes just ignores OH coming home - no reaction at all to his van pulling up or him coming in!

GS2 day today - and we missed the bus! only a minute or so late coming out and the bus went up the hill as we were coming down the other one! its a twenty minute wait or a fifteen minute walk and GS wanted to walk. never again! I would rather go home and phone a taxi - that was PAINFUL! my back condition is getting so much worse. was so glad I had my stick - but the painkillers were not working this morning. sorry to moan - but I haven't felt right all day and been popping paracetamols like smarties!
Barnes was waiting for me when I came in though and let me have a cwtch. and cry into his fur. he was a real comfort. he hasn't been far from me all day - he has declined all invitations to go out (and its only been 'drizzling'). preferring instead to perch on settee back near me. his claws need clipping so I haven't lay down - he thinks that's an invitation to come and 'knead' my tummy! and power up his paws, they get really hot! Cats seem to think they are Reiki healers - they may be right.............but not when claws dig into you!
even OH is saying Barnes claws need clipping - I HATE that job. but, it will have to be done. before Barnes is permanently stuck to the carpet!

I hate saying it - but I still haven't clipped Barnes claws. I must do it tomorrow, he actually dragged the hall runner with him just now. my hands are a bit shaky today, too many painkillers perhaps. eased back now so should be ok tomorrow.

lord it was hot this afternoon - too hot for Barnes, after lunch he decided the dining room was cool so been napping on the dining table - much to OHs annoyance.
I think its supposed to be hotter again tomorrow, we used to soak the dogs to cool them down - but I don't think Barnes would like that much - a water baby he isn't!

apart from that - its been too much effort to do much today...........! so will be back tomorrow!
