Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

jeez I am tired today! so is Barnes apparently, as he didn't get up until after GS left for home at 11.30, then sauntered down and demanded lunch!
no prob Barnes! now he is demanding a second supper! do I give it him or not??????? he hasn't had much dry food today, yeah, ok. I know, I am too soft - but the poor cat is having a miserable time of it - pampered and fed dreamies, food put down at regular hours, played with, and groomed to look his best.............hard life for a cat!
for some reason even though it hasn't been a BAD afternoon weatherwise, Barnes preferred to stay in living room with me. I couldn't take the very cool breeze outside today, sun was lovely, but the breeze made it feel like april not august!
Barnes is really winding OH up! he was on dining table again when OH came in - even though seconds before he was on back of living room sofa! and he doesn't do it when its only me here! rofl. naughty boy! I laff because Barnes must really feel secure here - otherwise he wouldn't be winding OH up would he?0 -
he has been a bit 'standoffish' today! I know he doesn't LIKE getting drenched in catnip infusion - but it IS helping! his sore patches are healing up lovely! he does seem a bit 'stoned', after he has had a good lick and dried himself off though, lol. after todays session he lay on the patio table and 'catsmiled' at me for an hour! rofl. and he is off his food a bit - totally refused supper tonight and hasn't asked for anything different. give him time though - I may get woken up at midnight with yowls of 'Feed ME'!
no grandkids today - tomorrow is Friday so its silly o'clock again. Barnes isn't too keen either - he has stopped meeting and greeting if GS2 comes before 7.00am. don't blame him - wish I could too!
still, at least the weather has been nice - me and Barnes taken full advantage!0 -
Barnes does seem to be having such a lovely summer exploring and enjoying the garden. Reading his exploits never fail to amuse and uplift me0
-
Thank you 'oldestgnome'! its knowing that some people regularly read Barnes thread (it is HIS thread - I am just his amanuensis), that stops me from disappearing from this forum over the last six months.
Friday - so its GS2 day - Barnes does manage to come down and greet him at about 9.00am..........but, I suspect he just really wanted his breakfast! and funnily enough I was cooking GS2's bacon at the time. Do cats get hungry at the smell of bacon frying I wonder? I know I do. and I don't even like bacon that much!
Took him over to play area after breakfast (GS2 not Barnes) and spent twenty minutes or so playing with him. Barnes was waiting on windowsill..............GS2 spotted him and was thrilled, 'Barnes is watching out for us, Nanny'! so they went out the back for a game of 'chuckthegravel'. after which Barnes was knackered so he retired upstairs for a windowsill nap.............in the front bedroom as I had left the door open when I changed the bedlinen. Still, it was a change of scenery for him.
I need more catnip! haven't had chance to go over town and had to 'raid' Barnes toys for enough catnip to make a fresh 'infusion'!
I have found that Barnes seems to tolerate the fish varieties of Sheba - I still don't understand how they got in the box - it lists only meat? at least it hasn't upset his tummy. I have emailed them asking about this, but haven't had a reply except for the standard 'your email has been received..............'
I swear his claws are growing three times as fast as usual! they really need doing again. I do wish he would find something outside to 'claw' ---- plenty of opportunities out there - even my trellis!
he is yowling in the kitchen .............He had drunk most of his water and couldn't reach the rest! Top up required!0 -
sorry - bit late tonight - I got involved on another thread!
Barnes slept in! didn't get up until nearly lunchtime! scoffed some dry food then demanded his 'lunch'.
strangely, although it was dry outside he didn't go outside!
in fact I thought he had gone outside the boundaries of garden again and did the 'shake the dreamies pack'. which he responded to from behind my computer monitor! dunno why, but he likes being there! prob because it makes me jump when I see two EYES pop over the top of the monitor in the dark!
Did the Catnip Drench and he just licked my face! I soaked him, he must be really 'itchy' because he seemed to know that catnip soothes his itchy skin. and he gets a lovely 'high'!0 -
Sunday - was having a nice lie in when Barnes decided it was way past time for me to get up and provide his breakfast! he walked up and down me' til I got fed up and got up! it was after 9.00am though! and he is used to breakfast being put down for him at about 7.00am.
checked the calendar and Barnes is due for a 'spot on' on Tuesday, I will do it today as I can see bite marks. no wonder he is itchy! the catnip helps but perhaps the outdoor fleas love it too? this period of rainy weather may help as he is inside more. and may I hope it drowns the fleas outside?
I wonder how Barnes will cope with winter now? now, that he is an indoor/outdoor cat? he seems to think the sun always shines on his garden and gets very put out if its cold, windy, rainy or all three! he also seems to think I control the weather from the switch by the French doors! its funny how he looks out the doors - sees its raining and looks at me, looks at switch, looks at me and pointedly looks outside again! I get the message Barnes, but unfortunately that switch only turns on the lights - not the sun! (ooohhh wouldn't it be nice if we had a 'sun switch'?????????? LOL)
grandgirls having sleepover tonight - I know where Barnes will spend the night - and it isn't with me!
He is STILL winding OH up! he seems to know when OH will pass through dining room and he seems to position himself on the dining table only seconds before OH walks in! but of course looks like he has been there ages...............fakes being fast asleep the little sod! of course I get 'why didn't you get the cat off the table'? Eh? I didn't even know he was on there! AND Barnes has the knack of using his litter tray minutes before OH wants a shower! and this weekend he proved he was psychic by OH showering 'off schedule'! and of course Barnes had just done a particularly stinky pooh!
Keep telling OH he is just entertaining Barnes by reacting so strongly! ignore him and he will stop doing it! OH seems unable to see the sense in that!0 -
well of course Barnes slept with grandgirls! they were so close together though in bed that poor Barnes couldn't get in between them (his favoured position) so he perched on the top of the pillows. Smiled nicely at me when I glanced in to check if they were still sleeping this morning (they were).
came down and put out his breakfast, but, as usual, he wasn't budging till they did!
the weather hasn't been too brilliant today - during sunny periods its still been cold - so he hasn't been outside for more than a few minutes between showers! and its ALL MY FAULT! got 'The Glare' and few yowls of disgust when he was forced indoors! to compensate I opened the front bedroom door for him to 'streetwatch'. that was boring, so he decided to have a 'behind the monitor nap'. which was ok, except that DIL wanted to use the computer and was startled into screaming loudly when Barnes suddenly jumped over the monitor straight onto the keyboard! I would have laughed, but she is six months pregnant!!!!!!!!!!
Naughty Cat!
Talking of DIL - I don't know what exactly she DOES to my computer - but every time she uses it - when I boot up the computer has a hissy fit! usually its just the 'not shut down properly message'. Today she has really done a number on it! I had to repair the hard drive and do a system restore!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no wonder laptops don't last more than a month or two with her and my son! they commit murder on them! Their six year old is far better! he at least understands you have to shut down properly and there are 'some thing you just must not do'!0 -
It is exactly one year since Barney came for his 'sleepover'! So, I have decided it is his 'official Birthday'!
therefore he is 7 today!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARNES!
What a year it has been! he has brought so much love and joy to me - I cant thank Atrix enough for letting me having him. most of the time anyway...............
OH and I have learned to live with a 'boobytrapped' bath and two litter trays in the bathroom! though OH always gets the 'stinky' treatment, rofl!
OH has learned to pile the cushions on the settee neatly next to him, instead of throwing them to the unoccupied side of it! because Barnes likes to perch on them to watch tv!
I cant get away with not vacuuming every day - Barnes' fur on the carpet is a dead giveaway it hasn't been done!
I have someone to talk to all day! ok, all I get in response is a 'Yooowlllll' - but its an improvement on dead silence or OHs 'Huh?'
Yes life is a rich tapestry now with Barnes!
today, I thought he had escaped when the kitchen window blew wide open when I was cooking - but he was on upstairs windowsill!
and when I THOUGHT he was on upstairs windowsill..............he had got out of the narrow gap in kitchen windowsill - which I only found out when I went out front for ciggy during a lull in showers.............only to see Barnes sauntering in the front gate and down the steps!! looking very wet, bedraggled and miserable! he was so glad to get in he hasn't set paw outside since!
(he is now sitting on printer watching me type his 'blog'!)
Now I wonder what the next year will bring............................?0 -
Awww that was lovely ......happy birthday Barnes !! :bdaycake:0
