Poor Barnes been sadly neglected by me today!
My fridge died yesterday afternoon and I didn't notice until about 6.00pm, when I wondered why my bottle of wine was still warm???????????? Panic stations - I did the old trick of putting the milk in a pan of cold water with a cold wet cloth draped over. The meat (a lovely joint of pork) was vacuum packed so I did the same with that and put them in the coolest place in the house.
hit the puter and searched for cheap larder fridge - Not paying top price if its only going to last four years!
found one in curry's and it was cheap and 'in stock'! reserved it. of course shop doesn't open til 10.30 and then I had to do a 'mini shop' in aldi for a chicken some salad stuff and milk - because what I had was really OFF!
and was expecting DD and GD for lunch - which didn't happen, DD cancelled at about 12.00, but joy of joys - DIL phones to ask if I can have GS2 while she goes to work.
was really busy and its sunday so its the royal command appearance (up my mums).
so apart from Barnes getting G&T from me and GS2 - nothing to report! Sorry folks!

Monday, lovely Monday - just me and Barnes and OH in work and PEACE reigns in the Meri household!
for some reason Barnes wakes me by sneezing in my face! Yeeeuuuchhh! a real wet one! (sorry if that's TMI), get up and wash face - brush teeth while I am at it, then think, 'oh soddit' may as well have my shower and dress now................but Barnes had other ideas - he wanted his breakfast so yowled at me- LOUDLY! lol

I am convinced Barnes listens in on conversations between me and OH! a few weeks back OH complained that Barnes has always pooed in his litter tray when he went up for his shower after coming home from work. so I said I would pop up and check when his van drew up outside and he could make his own coffee..................since then Barnes has waited until OH comes IN - and only then goes up and has a poo - and announces it loudly.
    rofl

Atrix came down earlier - Barnes was very pleased to see him - less pleased that Atrix held him while I popped his worming tabs down his throat - he chewed the first one and then swallowed it, the second went down when I held a dreamie to his nose! Barnes I mean - not Atrix!
I gave the anti itch wipes to Atrix a couple of days ago - I said they didn't seem to do much for Barnes fur - well his cat didn't like them either! must be the smell! so its back to catnip infusion! doubt if that would work for excessive licking though!

sorry I didn't post last night. the reason being that this forum is annoying me big time! or rather some posters are. I don't know if people are aware of how bad some boards are getting! you cant even post supportively unless someone takes exception!!!!!!!!

spent a while on PMs helping another poster too.

anyway, Barnes I fear, is deliberately winding OH up! DD her husband son and daughter were here just before OH came in. I said 'Watch Barnes' (who was enjoying the fuss they made of him). He heard the front door open and close and ran to the dining table and stretched out on it. (Infuriates OH when he does this - and its a 'new' thing with him). OH shouts at Barnes and gets him down - so Barnes goes upstairs...............I say 'He is going for a poo, cos he knows OH likes to go up for a shower about now'. and sure enough...............the smell comes wafting downstairs!
OH is not happy but I am laughing my head off and so is DD! the others just look puzzled! which makes us laugh even more!
Who says animals don't do things to pee us off? they obviously don't know cats!

GD1 slept over last night and she doesn't like Barnes sleeping with her, so, much to his disgust, she shut the door and he couldn't get in! I got very vocal complaints off him! she did let him in with her for a morning cuddle though - so she was forgiven!
he didn't like the fact it was raining today. but he did have a child to play with though. then the other three GDs arrived and he retired upstairs!!!!!!!!!!!Too much for him?
he didn't complain when they did his G&T and he got at least half a packet of dreamies and two treat sticks (I had to divide the treat sticks between them).
greedy beggar still demanded his lunch straight after though! so I made FIVE different lunches today! including Barneys (the easiest - I just opened the sachet and dumped it on his plate - no finesse at all!). and I forgot to do mine! or couldn't be arrrsed.
but I am not hungry cos I feasted on the kids leftovers - I had forgotten about that pleasure from when my kids were small!
plus me and the youngest had made cookies - god they were good!
all went home about 4.30 and its really nice and peaceful here now! I love to see them arrive - closely followed by loving to see them go home!
Barnes has been outside during one of the rare dry periods today and I was startled to see him rush inside as if all the hounds of hell were chasing him - two minutes later it 'hammered down' with rain! how on earth did he know?

while he was outside, youngest GD went out with him to play 'chuckthegravel' - but he was more interested in rubbing himself against her and raising his face to hers for kisses............honestly! he wouldn't leave her alone and ignored all the gravel chucking in favour of kisses and strokes!

Barnes was obviously in need of admiration from his young friend!

I think Barnes likes kids singly rather than 'en masse'! lol. he is much more affectionate to a single child. but, against that, he does seem to love a bedful of grandgirls! when all three sleep over, Barnes makes sure he gets to sleep with them! good job I have a king size bed!
been a bit of wet day today - Barnes has hardly been out - preferring 'windowsill napping' instead. and I got the blame! he comes down, stares out of French doors, looks at me - looks at light switch (and Ive told him loads of times it doesn't switch the sun on). then stalks off in disgust!
Plus he woke me this morning at 6.05 - I leapt out of bed convinced I had overslept for GS2 and they must be at the door - halfway down the stairs I remembered Son was bringing him this morning at around 7.00....................Dammmit Barnes! that wasn't funny! I am awake and up now and need a drink and a cuppa and ciggy.

no sleepovers tonight - can have a glass or three of wine and relax. and no kids to get up for tomorrow! life is good!

I'm quite missing my fluffbag. He's been staying over at my parents during my move. He went on Thursday or Friday last week, my brain is fried. He was just starting to pace as I was doing the last of the packing, and his stuff was all disappearing too, which i think just made him a bit upset. He's not a lap cat really, but he'd sit next to me on the sofa and give me puppydog eyes with his head on my leg, so I decided he needed to go earlier than planned. moved on monday. Gah. The new place looks worse than if a bomb hit it. But slowly getting there. Got (his!) sofa all sorted today, got him a new box (as his old cardboard one went seeing as it had mould on it) ready for him. he has a brand new cat tree to destroy, and his litter box is all clean and sparkly. Finally found his cat food bowls (pretty much the only box marked with it's contents on the outside, but happened to be pretty much also at the bottom of the box pile) and cat food. It's ready as much as it can be now, for him to come back.

Discovering that I've lived with mould in the last place for quite a while was not fun, as furniture was moved and had to be cleaned, so heading up there this weekend to have the joy of carpet cleaning with the carpet cleaner, else it needs to be biohazarded. Then I think on sunday he's coming back. I'm standing by for a few days of loud "you've left me, even though you're in the next room" yowling. hope my new neighbour upstairs doesn't complain already. It's been a nightmare to get permission for the cat to come with this flat.

It will be very nice to not have to lug fattykins upstairs again though! Think that is worth the move alone :D He's quite hefty, prolly about 7/8kg i think; big boned, honest! Mind you, he's been picky at my parents so might even have lost a few pounds

I wish you and 'fattykins' every happiness in your new home!

its been a strange sort of day Barneywise. woke up to him hacking up a furball on the duvet, he refused his breakfast and kept looking at the wet food/treats cupboard - when I gave him a sachet of sheba he walked away from it. and stared at the cupboard again. No Barnes, no treats before breakfast and certainly not when you 'hairballed' my duvet cover!

raining this morning so he went upstairs for a sulk, er I mean window nap. every time I went to stroke him he dodged my hand and made it plain he wasn't in the mood.
He went up to bathroom and although he had already 'poohed' in the litter tray he set the trap off! I think he does it now to see me dash upstairs!

grandgirls sleeping over - so I wont see Barnes once they have gone to bed. only two of them - the little one decided she wanted to go home after just half an hour.

We are all avid fans of 'Splash' so watched Tom Daley win his Commonwealth gold medal!
I know there are a lot of critics of the show - but, I was surprised how knowlegable I have become! I thoroughly enjoyed each dive and knew what the judges would be looking for! me and the grandgirls scores were quite close to the judges scores!

Barnes slept with the grandgirls last night - all night. I poked my head in the bedroom at about 9.00am and he was fast asleep on the pillow between them. and stayed there until C got up at 11.00am! lazy sods!
His breakfast was there for him - but he thought it was lunchtime! so yowled until I gave in and gave him some 'lunch'.
he has been 'in and out' dodging the showers today...........had his supper but yowled a lot..............oh dear, perhaps the girls didn't give him enough treats for his G&T? so as GD1 is staying over we gave him dreamies and treat stick. so he has finally shut up! peace is restored!
GD1 says he can stay with her tonight - if he is a good cat and doesn't sleep on her head! or play with her hair

Its done it again! lost my post! I know I posted last night as GD1 'helped' me with it! aaaaarrrgggghhhhh! what is going on here?

anyway - Barnes slept both nights with GD1 (just come in from driving her home). Didn't sleep on her head or play with her hair - which she hates. He was ever such a good cat! he got in a couple of good 'lie ins' with her too! lazy beggars, but it does give me an hour or so of 'me time' in the morning. by the time they get up I am wide eyed and bushy tailed! or as wide eyed as I get in the morning!
he seems to be licking his back a lot again - so out comes the catnip infusion - which he hates having put on.
I shall be drenching him again in a few minutes - just waiting for OHs supper to cook then I shall 'Do' him!
Cant be late going to bed tonight as I have to get up at 5.45 cos DIL is starting work at 6.00pm tomorrow.
