another apology! I am so sorry people, I did come on here briefly after GS2 left about 7.30 and devoutly hope I didn't post anything as I had a banging headache and don't think I made sense - had to go to bed at 8.30. I was accompanied by Barnes who seemed to think I needed him. he normally doesn't even come in if there is any daylight left!
more storms last night - the cause of my headache I think - I was fine this morning! apart from a bad back - but I am used to that.

Did a Barney shop this morning - a new place has opened on the industrial estate about two mins in car from us - its small and they don't seem to have much stock at present - but I did ask if they would be getting some things in - and they said they would. I did get something (his missus you may be interested in this), anti itch wipes! Barnes has been scratching and I cant find any sign of bites on him. he doesn't seem stressed so I think its 'habit' now. so I am trying 'Petkin' itchwipes - says it soothes itch and pain. it cost £3.99 for 30 wipes. only used one so far so will report back on how efficacious they are.
also picked up their 'dry food' for Barnes - the price was very reasonable and when it comes to dry food he eats anything! its wet food he is fussy about - they only stocked whiskas and kitekat pouches so still had to go to PAH for his Sheba and Applaws and Gourmet gold. and dreamies! mustn't forget the dreamies! he will enjoy a few Thomas or Felix treats but his main love is definitely Dreamies.

went out for the afternoon (visiting SIL - haven't seen her for a year - visit was well overdue!)
and now grandkids are sleeping over - but its 'quiet time' now - so got a little time to myself.

Grandkids slept over - got up and was making breakfast when Barnes put in an appearance demanding his! okay - but I hadn't even had my own breakfast (cuppa and ciggy) and from then on it was all 'action'. Grandson No1 phones to ask if he, his sister and his mum can come for lunch. yeah, why not? more the merrier.................or not! DD arrives with kids and her exhaust hanging off. of course the two menfolk decide the exhaust is top priority and it then takes me 3 hours to keep our lunch edible! and supply grandkids with snacks to keep them going...............arrrghhh. it was chaos here. Barnes gets his G&T done by C - am resigned to the fact she just gives him as many treats as he can swallow. but, by the time we actually EAT lunch 3pm - its nearly teatime! the cat wants out! he spends the whole time sitting on the kitchen windowsill trying to force open the window (on the latch) and yowling desperately! even GS1 said 'he is shouting lemme OUT'! I am sure he was really happy to see us all go out then!
he was fine when I got home - happy to see me!
its MONDAY tomorrow! I LOVE Mondays!

lovely day today even weatherwise! hot and sunny!
I picked the pathetic amount of gooseberries I had on my fruit bushes this year (while suppressing the urge to strangle my mother! who had only 'helpfully trimmed back' those new canes last year). made a pie at least. and it is delish!
got about six raspberries and the blackcurrants are so sparse I am leaving them for the birds.

and I have accidentally given Barnes fish for his supper! I swear the box was only supposed to contain meat varieties, but he tucked in and when I picked the packet up to bin it - it was trout! I wasn't going to get 'the glare' by whipping it away from him, and he had eaten most of it anyway..............have to see how he is tomorrow!
(fish gives him 'the runs' - but he hasn't had any for months and months now, hopefully it wont affect him this time!).

I think he has enjoyed the peace today - at least he hasn't been hammering the window and yowling 'lemme out'!

Tuesdays - nearly as good as Mondays! we had a lovely day today, Barnes and I, sat outside for most of it - very warm here, but for most of today it wasn't very 'sunny'! and even though they said it would be 'fresh' - it wasn't! its humid!
Barnes tummy seems ok until now............and I can hear him in bathroom, he seems to be stamping around in the litter tray..... well this mornings poo was firm enough! I swear that cat is flinging litter against the bath panel - bbl!

bluddy cat litter all over one side of the bathroom and no poo! whats that about?????????????
oh well no doubt I shall find out - when his highness sees fit to let me in on it.
must have been too hot/muggy for Barnes today - he didn't want to play! not even chuckthegravel - that just got me the 'you have to be kidding me' stare!
he has drank loads of water though - have refilled his water dish about six times. and the birdbath! and that holds a good litre or so. um - he can only drink a certain amount from his water dish as its deep and he is 'flat faced'. so he can only reach about half inch or so of water.................. that's why he likes the birdbath, its nice and wide!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Meri, Tikka's started using the litter tray again and keeps trampling litter all over the place too. She's a bit put out, I think, because Blackie's come back from Grandma's and she seems to be trying to stake claim to both of the new beds I've bought them. Blackie sniffed at one bed, she was in it instantly so Blackie looked at the other bed and, like Mr Benn's shopkeeper, she magically appeared in it.

Scrappy's coming home this weekend. Whilst he seems very settled at mum's she says he definitely misses having Blackie around and looks quite lonely.

hi, his missus - I think scrappy likes 'dual custody'! he gets the best of both worlds!

I dunno why, but Barnes refused to be groomed today! I got his bag of treats, his treatstick and combs and sat on the 'grooming mat' and he sat about 3 feet away and wouldn't come closer. not even for dreamies! Then gave me 'The Glare' (only amped up) and sauntered off out into the garden!
perhaps I went a bit far yesterday - I put a spot-on on him. but did give him an extra few treats! and wiped him with the anti-itch wipes. Try again tomorrow - and hope I have been forgiven for whatever it was I did!

I will have to keep this short - storm is coming and it looks like its going directly overhead...............even with surge protection I will prob shut down. cant be too careful!

jeez - its been HOT today! poor Barnes hasn't been able to enjoy his garden time at all! lazy critter had a lie in today so it was already hot out the back by the time he got up and breakfasted. he headed straight for the little porch where I keep the chairs and umbrella and stretched out on the massive tool box in there. its metal and stays nice and cool.
he did come in for his lunch so I had his dreamies and grooming combs ready - and he did let me groom him. Phew! glad I haven't got to go through the 'lets get him used to being groomed gently thingy' again!
to hot to play - so he just went back out to toolbox and napped.
I don't think those anti-itch wipes are doing much for him and his coat felt rather dry today.....................will give them to Atrix - perhaps his cats will get on with them better. Barnes coat is very very fine! and I suspect if I kept on using those wipes he would end up looking like a ginger dandelion!

OMG! what a night! after I posted on here I was looking for a nice holiday site in Cornwall or Devon, I heard OH lock the French doors and pull the curtains................but an hour or so later when I went to bed - NO Barnes waiting for me! Strange! every night he waits on window sill, then when I get into bed he jumps off and comes on the bed with me.
so I search upstairs, No Barnes, Downstairs, No Barnes.................feeling a bit panicked now I wonder if OH accidently left him outside or shut him in outhouse. He wasn't in outhouse and no sign of him outside.
I get his packet of dreamies and call him - when I call Barnes I always get a 'yow?' in reply.............nothing! I go out the front shake the packet calling Barnes..............Nothing!
Check the house again - every nook and crannie! NO BARNES! by this time I am very worried - so wander up the street - shaking the dreamies and calling Barnes and then down the back lane.............NO BARNES!
I really need to go to bed - got GS2 at silly o clock and need to sleep. decide to turn puter back on and entertain myself for another 15 mins then try again.........and repeat.................and repeat...................1.45 and I HAVE to go to bed!
wake up every half hour or so until about 4.00am then woken by DIL hammering on the front door! open living room curtains and Barnes is sat on Patio table!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know whether to hug him or boot him up the aaarrrrsssse! he decides for me by dashing in and diving into his food as if starved for a week! and I have to get GS2s breakfast too!
roflmao - he was fine! but he slept the whole day in the outhouse on the metal tool box! apart from when he came in for his lunch and his G&T! me? well I was a nervous wreck!

grandgirls slept over last night so he spent the night in with them.
then relocated to his usual windowsill for a good nap. then came downstairs had his breakfast and headed out - into garden. played with GA for a while and went for 'toolbox nap' which lasted ALL day! he didn't even come in for G&T when I shook the dreamies packet! or for his lunch. he didn't come in until about 7.00pm and had his supper. he went out after that but OH made sure he was in when he locked the French doors! I do NOT want a repeat of the other night!
