thank you I too cant have a dog because of the walking situation
I am hoping battersea dogs/cats home will accept us we have to travel there to register and then they do a home visit than travel up there again.
so I think it will be a while yet.
I just dug out my home videos and watched my youngest playing with beauty she was 7 at the time she is now 25
I couldnt face it before as I grieved so badly for beauty but having next doors cat visiting has helped.
I love your thread I hope you had a lovely day today

    Hi Meri,

I let Hubby take Scrappy to the vets on his own...big mistake! He cam back armed with a £15 can of flea spray even though I have 2 cans in. Apparently Scrappy had flea dirt on him but no fleas. Hubby fortunately turned down the vets suggestion of Frontline, I do prefer the tablets which are clearly having an effect. I've not been combing him due to his balding which is probably why he still has flea dirt on him. My Hubby is a sucker sometimes!

The cats all got another dose on Saturday morning, just in case...I read on the Daily Snail that there's going to be an influx of fleas this summer. Guess we'd better prepare for battle AGAIN!

I went up to bed last night and had that 'nagging feeling I have forgotten something', so got up and checked doors and windows, oven. all ok................then I came here and found - I forgot to post at normal time!!!!!!!!!!!!! so sorry!
ok, so Barnes Sunday was fairly quiet, had GS for sleepover, and his mum phoned in the morning and I was amused to hear him invite her and his dad for lunch! its no problem - I was expecting his cousins anyway and usually have enough veg to 's t r e t c h' the roast.
GS had a game of 'chuckthegravel' with Barnes, and gave him some treats and helped me groom him. GS is used to dogs, but is a bit nervous with cats - luckily Barnes loves kids and is very laid back with them. GS thinks Barnes is 'great'! and funny!
today Barnes and I got back to 'normal'! OH is back in work (HOOORRRAYYYY!!!!!!) so I wasn't out of the house and Barnes had my undivided attention. I do need to pop over to town but thought Barnes had priority today. we had a lovely day together - he is back to turning his head away from me going 'nose to nose',lol.
we have played chuckthegravel and pingponguppastairs, and had a nice cuddle.............oh, its such bliss to get back to routine!!!!!
and I wanted to watch the Tennis ....................I didn't see hardly any last week! I love Wimbledon in particular, I don't like most sport, and my other sport love I see a glimpse of every four years (when its in the Olympics). I mean Tae Kwon Do, its the martial art I practiced until my back gave in.
Barnes gets bitten a lot outside - I do too, why do insects target us? I don't even see the bu99ers - just get a reaction which itches like bu99ery!
he is still mooning over next doors cat......who ignores him!

Do you think Barnes is aware his lady love is oblivious to his presence or do you think he thinks she's playing hard to get? :D

I'm sure she's aware but is also playing hard to get

oh, I think she is aware of him - just not 'interested'! the silly beggar was staring up at her today and she turned round and stalked to the other end of the windowsill, curled up and went to sleep! and he STILL stared up at her window....................jeez, poor sod has it bad!
so I distracted him by chucking gravel into the plants, which worked!
I think he likes to pretend its birds, he goes into 'stalk mode' then pounces when I chuck one which he sees.
um, I do worry that I am going to end up with 'hill' of gravel on one side of the garden and bare dirt on the other! cos the grandgirls like 'chuckthegravel' too.................and they 'chuck' loads! rofl.
Its Tuesday so it was 'grandgirls' day - and I had to smile at such a sweet 'moment' Barnes had with 'C'. she played a bit of 'chuckthegravel' with him and when he got fed up he lay down on his side beside her, and she lay down on the gravel with him! he squirmed right up to her and lay with his body against hers and his front leg across her! altogether now.............AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
    It was so sweet!
I had bought one of those games from Aldi, Sea Battle (battleships - but Aldi always 'rename' things), and was teaching them how to play it - so Barnes jumps up and watches for a while - lol, he looked like he was ready to be an 'umpire'! he got bored after a few minutes and wandered off - but the girls were absorbed and played for an hour!
I can hear him yowling now in the bathroom. I guess I will have to go clean up his litter tray in a minute.

its GS2 day today and Barnes just greeted him politely, then went off for a kitchen windowsill nap........he has just figured out that in the morning the sun comes in the kitchen window (Warming the sill nicely) and doesn't come into 'his bedroom'. lol, he was sat there watching me come down the hill, and then curled up and pretended to be deeply asleep as usual - but I banged on the kitchen window and made him jump! earned me 'The Glare' though! lol made the most of the sunshine today as its set to rain tomorrow so Carol Kirkwood said. you could feel the change in the atmosphere too! so I think rain sooner rather than later!

I have to wait in for two deliveries tomorrow - I forgot about them and was planning to go over to town...........oh well, have to wait 'til I take GS2 to school on Friday now and catch bus from there.
I hate town on Fridays - Market day and its really busy!

Its lovely having the house to ourselves..........me and Barnes I mean...........I can watch Tennis and Barnes can watch for his ladylove without fear of being shut inside, cos me and OH are off on YET ANOTHER shopping expedition!

Barnes has had to contend with a stiff breeze today! I could see it shifting his coat about! and he came in and out a lot! not very warm out there today! and a bit damp on times.
he has been a bit more vocal than usual - on entering the house he seems to complain that its not 'sunny enough', 'too breezy', 'cold'! and he seemed to want to prolong his G&T! I finished and he just sat there staring at his Dreamies bag............what could I do? I groomed him a bit more and gave him more Dreamies! he must have wanted them (or more grooming?) because he hadnt yet had his favourite part - the TREAT STICK!
he is still mooning over 'hernextdoor'! who is STILL ignoring him! rofl - Barnes darling she is a lost cause! aint interested. and wouldn't be allowed out to 'date' you even if she was!
