I slept late! planned to let Barney have an hour or so outside before builder came, but OH didn't wake me! Barnes had about ten minutes as he slept late too! Barnes then go shut into front bedroom - and he didn't like it after he had watched all the 'activity' (mostly parents taking their kids to school). he street generally is quiet after the 'morning rush hour'. he yowled plaintively, so I went up and put some treats on windowsill for him. but I had to ignore the occasional yowls from then on - until builder went home for lunch at twelve. freed Barnes and we had some lunch, G&T and a game of 'chuckthegravel'. and a game of 'pingponguppastairs'. and a nice cuddle! he had to go back into solitary confinement for a few hours - but I put him in his usual room for naps and he seemed ok.
builder knocked off at 3.00 and hopefully that is IT! he is coming back in morning to check the work.
and I think he has done an excellent job! it looks GOOD!
mates rates too! one of OHs rugby mates - and he seemed very surprised when I paid him the money OH had left for him.
Barnes got drenched with catnip after builder left, didn't please him much - I got 'the glare'. and he took himself off and started eating strawberry leaves.............and he took no notice of 'NO BARNEY'! several times! so he got a 'time in'! let him out and he was good as gold.
its gone half past nine and Barnes is still out on decking, curled up on a chair................I think its time to get him in now, but, he wont like it, he complains loudly before joining OH watching TV. what have I started allowing him out?

OH worked last night and had today off - which we spent shopping for wallpaper. and forgot to buy new coving to replace the one which was on the old wall! DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found a wallpaper I actually liked for the feature wall - in What! of all places. I didn't like anything in BnQ. all those huge flower patterns are just like that awful stuff from the fifties/early sixties. it does have a big flower pattern but at least the colours are nice. and its not too 'in your face'. and my OH nearly fainted at the cost of one roll of paper £25!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this one was a bargain at £9.99. we only needed two and another six of a plainer paper to do the other three walls. I think it should look nice.
but poor Barnes was shut in for most of the day - again! still he has had a good few hours outside now - I have just got him in and gave him his supper. may as well not put it down for him until he comes in as he doesn't bother with it if he is 'having garden time'. catnip infusion seems to be helping his 'scabby skin', its drying up and looking better and he isn't scratching so much.
I must do a Barney Shop on Saturday - supplies are getting low and for some reason he only has one variety left (3 pouches) in his gourmet perle, but all the sheba ones are different.
he has been quite a good cat today - I felt awful shutting him in again - but, we DID have to get decorating stuff.

we are going to have the wall knocked down between the kitchen and dining room - not yet but soon so we had a quick look at the kitchens - there are a few I like but, I want to go online and look too. there seems to be a 'sameness' about the ranges even in different stores. I want something more 'individual' if you know what I mean?

oh what a beautiful day today! barnes has been out ALL day! I had trouble getting him in for G&T!
he did enjoy a game of 'chuckthegravel', and came in for G&T, but, he has preferred to spend most of today outside. boring!
it is a bit of a mess here - and for some reason Barnes loves the dining table being piled with 'stuff'! he likes to hide himself within it.
OH has a 'thing' about cats on tables (even when they aren't being used) and goes nuts if he finds Barnes there on top of the table. so Barnes has been turfed off the table a couple of times.

living room (and dining room) look like bombsites. its amazing just how much mess OH can make when he is preparing to decorate a room. lol, oh well, the dining table is now piled so high with books, ornaments and even cushions from the settees, Barnes can hide from OH for hours!
as much as he loves it outside I think today got a little TOO hot for Barnes, he tried all the shady spots in the garden but, mid-afternoon he copied me and relocated to the stairs for a while - its lovely and cool there! wasn't in the mood, or too hot for playing today - he just sniffed in disdain when I got his ping pong balls out.
apart from that we have had a really quiet day - no grandkids for sleepover, no visitors, just me, OH and Barnes.

another really quiet day! nice in a way, but we were decorating so Barnes had to amuse himself. we did pop out earlier to the new Home Bargains shop - needed a few 'bits and bobs.
Barnes virtually had the chairs to himself, and I was amused to see that he went from one chair to another as the sun was hitting them.
I cant work out why he thinks the bird bath water is better than what is in his bowl? I put fresh water down about 4 times a day and the bird bath gets 'topped up' every other day? and it gets warm in the sun, where HIS water stays cool.....................strange that!
he is still out there, curled up on chair, I might as well go and put his supper down now - wont be long and I will be getting him in.
Oh - and his Brekkies dry food (he seems to love that) is only 79p a box in Home Bargains! so will mix that up with his Vitacat from Aldi.
didn't manage to do a Barney shop - will try to fit that in tomorrow. (though I am planning to escape the decorating by going over town tomorrow for a few hours).

    Hi Meri,

Mum came over to stay this weekend. My cats can't con Grandma anymore (but she'll probably let them anyway) when they go to stay in a few weeks. Last time they refused to eat the pouches I sent over but she has now witnessed them eating the food.:D

They're definitely enjoying the sunny weather and follow the sunshine around the garden during the day.

I am exhausted! started decorating at 8.00am and finished (or rather called it a day) at 8.45pm. I am losing the will to live! that paper is a !!!!!!! OH did the big pattern feature wall yesterday so we thought the other paper would be a doddle..............is it eck!!!!!! its one of those papers that SHOULD have a 32 cm 'repeat'. its more like a metre!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if you aren't careful although it matches in one place it doesn't in another so we ruined two strips. and on every roll so far we have been left with 3quarters of a strip - the wastage is horrendous. I haven't killed OH yet, so think I have been very restrained today. mind you, the air in here has been 'blue'. especially when I have said 'that doesn't match and he insists it does and cuts the paper..........and it doesn't! arrrrrrgggghhhh.
Barnes has been mostly left to fend for himself - I did plonk down some lunch for him when doing ours, but didn't have time for his G&T! still one day without wont hurt him. and he got his supper before OH had his, I don't think he minded as he was outside mooning over his ladylove. OH noticed him looking up at next doors bedroom window and wanted to know 'Why is Barney staring up there'? when I explained, he burst out laughing. informed Barnes that he was a 'prat' and chuckled to himself for ages.
I got to go back to What! for another roll of paper tomorrow - I just hope they have the same batch number! if not sod it - its going up anyway!
and I didn't get to do a Barney Shop - but I do have plenty of food here - just not the ones he really really really likes!

sorry there was no post last night - mum had an accident and we spent all evening in A&E. didn't get home until 11.45pm and I was exhausted. I may well post the circumstances of her accident on my 'Stupid Accident' thread!

she is fine now - just have to take her back tomorrow afternoon for 'dressing clinic'. and if its anything like last nights fiasco I am dreading it!
we waited over an hour to see the Triage nurse - another three hours to see the 'minor injuries nurse', who then called on the Triage nurse to apply Steri strips and bandage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, that wasn't a joke.....................I am compiling a list of complaints and I have 15 bullet points already and am not finished!
next time I am taking her up 'Charlies' - rep is rubbish, but I know from own experience the A&E is better than most. I wont detail all last nights hospitals faults, but those of us in the waiting room bonded over discussions of how it could be improved!!!!!!!!!!

he was absolutely delighted to get a midnight snack of Applaws chicken and pumpkin!
Yes I did do a Barney shop yesterday - as we roamed up and down the valley in search of such items as 'toggle plasterboard screws' which OH was insistent he had seen half price to BnQ! but we ended up there anyway - and OH had left his Wrinkly Wednesday card in the house!

poor Barnes - he was quite vocal on being left on his own all evening when we got back!
and he has been sadly neglected, and for some reason has been especially 'affectionate' today! I have been tapped on the back, got 'whupped upside the head' when he was behind me on settee back. I teasingly put my nose to his (which he usually turns his head from me) and he licked my nose! he also licked my hand after I fed him extra treats cos I dinged a bag of rice for OH!
AND I gave him worming tabs today and he swallowed them no problem!
I am not sure if he prefers to be neglected or he is reminding me that he is there!
