I know I am early tonight - but I am just waiting for OH to get in from work - got a call out not half hour after getting home from work. jeez - I hate 'on-call' week!
Barnes doesn't like it either - I put the TV on for him and even remembered to put OHs favourite programs on - but, he wont watch if his TV buddy isn't here apparently!
Atrix - I thought you said he wouldn't eat Wiskas? only the local shop had boxes of 12 sachets of meat in jelly for 99p. (use by was yesterday) so I bought a box. he ruddy well wolfed down the one he was given for lunch! I wish I had bought two or three boxes now. I bet there are none left by the morning!

and discovered he likes the 'Thomas' cat treats, chicken flavour, just as much as dreamies and they cost less for more treats! hmmmm - methinks this 'he will only eat the 'finest' foods a bit of a con - I just didn't let him see the packaging! in fact I transferred the contents to his usual boxes abd bag.............sneaky I know - but if it works on OH.........................!
we played 'chuckthegravel' for a while outside today - and he was very wary of the birdbath! if a bit of gravel did 'accidentally' plop into the birdbath he just gave me 'the look' and waited patiently for it to be chucked right down at his paws! then a little pounce and he gets his gravel! or at least I think it was 'his' gravel. anyway, he never ever misses one..............or so he would have me believe!!!!!!!!!

damp start to the day today - but I wasn't going to let Barnes out till later anyway. GS2 day today and I had an errand to run after school run. and as luck would have it I was just putting key in the lock when it started raining for real! still it cleared up about lunchtime. so after G&T and lunch Barnes was able to go outside. where he stayed most of the afternoon! he just popped in now and then for a bathroom break and to check on me.
went out with him later and played 'chuckthegravel'. he has progressed to trying to catch it in his paws before it hits the ground now ...............interesting, I am wondering if we could do this with his 'treats'.

I think local shopkeeper must have bought an entire warehouseful of Wiskas! he had loads there and tells me he has a good stash out the back! so I got another box - I know 'use-by' was up, but the food is sealed in foil sachets and I doubt it went off at midnight that day! should be good for at least months if not more! I would have bought more than one box, but I still had to carry stuff from the bus stop.
and he had another for his lunch today - which also went down well.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Regarding the toxicity of plants.

I have guinea pigs, and apparently they usually know after a nibble not to continue eating - the plants that are toxic taste bad.

The toxicity is apparently a bit like alcoholic spirits in humans - a little won't have much effect, but a lot will have v negative side effects.

Its rare for a pet to die from eating a plant. It does happen, but not often.

So take sensible precautions - but wouldn't stress too much about a little nibble.

Thank you danih. I did take the statement 'toxic' with having a broad meaning. from causing a mild reaction to a severe one - and Barnes seemed fine - any unusual behaviours or symptoms would have had us up the vets in a flash!

and he tried the hosta again today - I think its when the plants are wet he is most likely to chew them! he ignores dry plants. he did stop as soon as I said 'Barney no' though - he doesn't want a 'time out' or rather 'time in'!

grandgirls are here this evening so he got played with outside again.

this mornings thunderstorms didn't faze him one bit! he totally ignored them -because it wasn't hailstoneing - hailstones freak him out! and tbh - I ignored them too - preferred to sleep!
Barnes is perched on back of settee watching Gremlins 2 with the girls. OH been called out again - will this week never end? he must have worked 70 hours and its not over yet! its been a bit unusual this week because normally he gets mostly 'no water' calls (which means he isn't out long, just locates the problem and calls in the appropriate team to put it right, but this week its been 'burst mains'! and that means he usually has to remain on site, so it can be hours before he gets home. Barnes is missing him.

Was very showery today, but there were lovely sunny spells so Barnes did have plenty of 'Garden Time'. I had the grandgirls watch him with me while he was outside, because the plants were wet - and he was pretty good - he went to chew the Hosta then looked inside and saw us all watching him, so he left it and went down to the gate to 'lanewatch' instead.
as usual on a Sunday his G&T was late - But K did it and he got loads of treats - so he didn't mind, but I now have to buy more treats as there is only enough left for tomorrow instead of at least a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am surprised he ate all his lunch (and his supper!). he should have been full up!

He slept with the girls all last night. I peeped in early this morning and both girls were perched on the end of the bed and Barnes had most of it to himself!lol.

At least he got OH to himself this afternoon - I took one of the grandgirls up my mothers but the others wanted to go home. still, as much as I love them, it WAS nice to come home to peace!

Barnes has had a lovely day today - so have I! its my 60th Birthday today and not only didn't it rain, the sun came out! I had a lot of cards to open and ALL the kids and grandkids came to visit - so Barnes had a lot of 'meeting and greeting' to do! My favourite kind of day - lots of ME time, and visits from my favourite people! oh and presents! and they were lovely thoughtful gifts too. I am soooooo blessed.

mind you - I did think OH was taking the 'P' with his card - he usually gets one titled 'to a special wife' - but I did point out last year that that implied there were 'other' wives. perhaps it was aimed at the polygamous market?
so this year he got 'To my Beautiful wife, you make me happy every day'. which made me fall about laughing................fgs - I am 60 and any beauty is far in the past...........and if this is his version of 'happy every day'.............words fail me! Am sure he has Aspergers - like his son and grandkids. and 'Victor Meldrew' has nothing on him!
that aside - today has been one of the best days of my life - I was terrified that they would drag me out on one pretext or other and I would have a 'Surprise Party'. ..................it would be my worst nightmare - I don't like parties.
Sorry, post tonight has been all about me! but me and Barnes have had a lovely day - we like the same things! sunshine in the garden, visits (shortish ones though) from loved ones and we indulged ourselves with the things WE like to eat. (Barnes got an extra treat stick with his G&T because its MY birthday).

    Happy Birthday!!!

Very glad that you, as well as Barnes, had a very nice day of enjoyment!

I have mine coming up in a couple of weeks, frankly the only thing I want is another flat to move into. Sadly there seems to be an anti-cat movement going on with all the landlords in my area, and so far been knocked back from 4, and I had to turn down 1 due to it being very unsuitable for me. If I'm honest, that cat of mine is far less trouble than a child most of the time, yet you don't see NO KIDS on the adverts! :D Waiting to hear back from another one, a perfect place for me, but it's been a couple of days and no word, so doesn't look good.

Sorting and soft packing currently so lots of boxes around for the cat. He does seem most put out when I tape up the bottom, he likes running through them like they were tunnels. He's already investigated the tape gun, and found himself attached a couple of times. He really doesn't learn. He did this the last time as well, and it wasn't that long ago!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Happy birthday for yesterday, Meri xx

It was my birthday on Friday and Hubby took me away to Paris leaving Scrappy and Blackie in Grandma's care. Apparently they've refused to eat the whiskas pouches sent with them so Grandma bought some sheba pouches and some tins of tuna too! I can guarantee they'll be eating whiska tonight.

Sometimes I think they're more manipulative that kids ;)
