its been a 'wet day' here - rained a bit, stopped for a bit then rained again. never really dried out. I opened the door and let Barnes out when it wasn't actually raining, but he just did a 'perimeter check' and hurried back in again! he complained a bit, but eventually went off to sulk upstairs.

did a Barnes food shop for the month............and left his list of 'dislikes' in the kitchen. arrrrgggh! so I hope I have got only the right 'Brands and Varieties'! otherwise Atrix's cats are going to be extremely well fed! (I have a bag of pouches that he doesn't like ready for girls to fetch up tomorrow Atrix). it annoys me that out of a 12 pouch box he will love 10 of them, but there is ALWAYS 2 he wont eat - usually rabbit.
and I managed to put him off webbox treat sticks now - I tried to hide his worming tablets in them yesterday and he sussed the ruse! today he refused the treat stick even though there was nothing hidden in it! and gave me 'The Glare'!

had to get up at silly o clock this morning, GS2 day - and got grandgirls for a sleepover (they are watching a film right now). can hardly keep my eyes open! oh well, its their bedtime soon - then I am off to bed too!

most of the morning taken up with grandgirls - not that I neglected Barnes, he got his breakfast early, as I got up at stupid o clock, unable to get back to sleep.
Barnes watches them (grandgirls) intently, they are kind enough to stop and chat to him, feed him 'illicit treats' (they think I don't know) and ask to groom him. I just get the feeling he wants to join in with them? dress up and make up and play hide and seek? he is NEVER very far from them. he slept with them all last night (except when the little one fell out of bed and he panicked in all the kerfuffle!) but he sneaked back in once they were all asleep, its so sweet to see him lying there in between the twins purring away to himself. I cant entice him out - he wants to be with them. awwwwwwwww!

when they went home he wanted out - but it was piddling down! so he took one look and went for a nap instead! he kept coming down and checking out the French doors - but, its been raining virtually all day! it did sort of stop once - so I opened the door and called him and he shot outside..............but of course the decking was soaking wet wasn't it? puddles even! he did do a perimeter check, but even I could see it was 'half hearted'. he wasn't out above a minute or two. lol.
Big sigh of relief - I found a chicken webbox treat stick and tried him with that - he ate it with relish so I do hope that I have been forgiven for trying to hide worming tabs in the liver variety stick. will try him with one tomorrow - otherwise TWO packets of Webbox treat sticks will be added to Atrix cats goody bag! which I forgot to send home with the grandgirls!

Oh, I came on tonight and I know I am late - but where did last nights post go? I typed it in and I know I saved it. I am SO sorry! I don't know what happened there!

anyway - yesterdays post was mostly how Barnes had been so annoying with GD1 that she shut the door when he was out of her room! apparently he couldn't settle and kept jumping on the bed and off again. then out and back again, did 'her head in'!

and the weather was so wet that I had a very miserable Barnes all day, back and forth the French doors, the front door and complaining to me it was raining!

today its been nice. last night GS1 had a sleepover - and of course Barnes slept with him! but, GS1 is a bit of a light sleeper and Barnes 'nocturnal wanderings' woke him up a few times - so many times that he had to sleep until nearly noon to 'catch up'! rofl - yeah, he is sixteen, he can sleep for Wales!
Barnes jumps over the fence into 'lefthandnextdoor' have now been curtailed (I hope). OH found some rigid metal fencing which he fastened onto the fence. and I found a plant which in the next few years will grow bushy enough to discourage any 'high jumps'!

roflmao - Barnes was sat on patio table this afternoon staring up at next doors bedroom window and 'singing' love songs to next doors cat................its so funny because he has been 'done' and so has next doors cat! must be 'True Lurve'!
Honestly, it does sound like he is 'singing'. if you like Opera mixed with Jazz.
I think Barnes outdid himself today - he caught quite a few wasps! but WHY does he chase them IN the house from the garden? and why on earth do wasps think they can escape cats by flying into a house? that must be one of the great mysteries. I cant work it out!

barnes did manage to spend most of today in his garden. the decking was wet and it was funny watching him picking his way across trying to avoid the deepest puddles. and not aware his tail was dragging through them!
Atrix was here this morning so barnes had someone to fuss him! he enjoyed that - and let Atrix give him a cuddle!
the grandgirls came down later on and he made a big fuss of them before retiring upstairs for a nice nap.
I modified the bath booby trap by putting empty pop bottles full of water at each end - he set it off ................and the noise was incredible - he shot downstairs! (I had to do something - he was getting through half inch gaps without setting off the dolphins). he returned to bathroom about ten minutes later and used the litter tray.
I am thinking of buying two identical shower curtains and stitching them together so that I have more fabric at each end to weight down. make it even more difficult for the little bu99er!

might pop over town tomorrow after GS2 gets picked up. I need a few things anyway.
and must find something to replace webbox treat sticks - he has now decided he cant trust them. so refuses to eat them.
they were his final treat to indicate 'end of grooming'. he seems very puzzled if I give him more dreamies and complains if he gets nothing else!

had GS2 today, and its half term so had the pleasure of his company for longer than usual!
lol, Barnes sat there 'catsmiling' at GS2, so I explained that cats cant smile with their mouths like humans do, so the slow blink is their way of 'smiling at you'. roflmao - they sat there smiling at each other for the next five minutes!

barnes got a bit bored cos GS2 wanted me to show him how to make bracelets on the loom his mum had bought him. so we spent a couple of hours doing that. while barnes had a nice little nap on the other rug.
after GS2 left he got his catnip mouse out and halfheartedly batted it about, then completely lost interest and went upstairs to have a really good nap! (he couldn't go outside as it was raining this morning).

the afternoon was starting to dry up so after his lunch and groomandtreats, he went out. did his perimeter check - kept looking up at next doors bedroom window in the hope of seeing his 'ladylove', but she must have been busy elsewhere as he was disappointed.
he had an hour or so outside while I was on the phone to DD, but it started raining again so he came in and napped.
    and that's been barnes day!

the weather here today was a carbon copy of yesterdays!!!!!!!! how unusual in South Wales! normally every day is different. oh well, I should know by now to expect the unexpected.
cleared up about teatime, so Barnes was very happy to be let out - and after doing his perimeter check started to eat the chive flowers! I tried to stop him, but he really took a fancy to them! I am not keen on him eating them, humans can, but they are members of the onion family and onions are NOT good for cats! I ended up putting him inside and shutting him in for five minutes while I sat outside. ('time out' - the feline version). His breath stinks like garlic now. jeez - I hope he sleeps on windowsill tonight!
he aint gonna be happy with me anyway - its the day for the PINK tablets! OH has only just come in - I've fed him, and he will have to hold Barnes for me when I finish todays 'news update'. rofl - think barnes has been reading over my shoulder........he just sneaked upstairs
I stopped there, because it suddenly occurred to me that Barnes had heard OH in the shower ten minutes ago, and OH is rubbish at setting the bathboobytrap! just checked, and apart from making minor ajustments every thing ok! whew!!!!!!!!!!!

early night again I think - got GS2 tomorrow and as no text to say he will be dropped off at a reasonable hour - I must assume its stupid o clock again!

update - Barnes took the pink tablets like an angel! the first one went in like it should, back of the mouth, cat swallowed with me stroking throat, the second one I sort of missed, it hit his back teeth and landed on the middle of his tongue, I quickly held a 'dreamy' to his nose and he obligingly swallowed the tab and ate his treat! so he had a few more for being a 'good cat'!

arrrrghghg its happened again! either I am at fault or computer or forum is! I think I had better come back and check that post has actually appeared on forum. Sorry again folks!
anyway, yesterday was a bit boring apart from Barnes serenading his ladylove again. rofl - its so funny.

today hasn't been much more interesting either. I said that he had refused his webbox treat sticks didn't I? well the have treat sticks in Aldi's where I do my weekly shop, so I picked up a pack for him.
he loves them! so perhaps just a brand change was needed there!
got GD1 for sleepover tonight and earlier we went shopping for the afternoon - so Barnes was shut in. but as it was dry and almost warm later, GD got a chair out on the decking for herself - she set it up and came in to get her drink to find Barnes curled up in it! lol
the grandgirls always seem to want prawns for supper on Saturdays so Barnes gets a couple of prawns as a real treat. perhaps that is why he is so pleased to see them come in? he knows that he will get his prawn treat?
right - off now to watch BGT results. but I WILL check that this has really posted!!!!!!

its been nice here today - bit cloudy and sometimes a bit breezy. we got the patio chairs out about midday when it warmed up in back garden - four chairs - one for each of us and one for Barnes! who immediately sat in his! he had 'ants in his pants' though, he was in and out and wouldn't settle.
grandgirls came down for lunch and they started playing with Barnes, throwing the gravel for him to 'pounce on', um, I threw a few with them and threw one which landed in the birdbath full of water, and Barnes pounced after it..........the look of horror on his face when he realised his front paws were in two inches of water! rofl. he gingerly backed away, lifting each paw and shaking it free of water, he then stalked off and lay under the willow! the grandgirls and I were laughing our heads off!
Barnes forgave us and kept us company as we played with our 'loom bands'. he watches the girls intently and really loves it when they give him any attention.
so even though he had had 'groom and treats' I let them do it again! Barnes loved it - the girls loved it, win/win situation!

damp and miserable day today - but Barnes wanted out so I let him out. I think he feels he has to do his 'perimeter check' every day now. then he started gobbling the leaves of my Hosta! arrrrggghhh Barnes NO! he ignored me shouting at him and started eating them even faster! so he got 'Time out' again! in one minute he had chewed one leaf down to the stalk and made inroads on another. I must google to see if they are bad for cats to eat - honestly, I have to watch him like a hawk with the plants - If he wants greenery I can always give him some salad with his food!

the drizzle didn't seem to bother him too much - but, he did spend a bit of time sitting under the willow 'umbrella'. which is ok in light rain he stays quite dry. useless in heavier rain though - it drips through.

he seems to have decided on an early night tonight. He went up to windowsill straight after supper and I haven't seen him since.
(probably something to do with the fact his TV buddy has been called out to work and hasn't come home yet so TV isn't on).

I have googled hostas and opinion is divided. some sites say yes and some say no. Barnes ate it about 10.00am and he seems fine. ate normally and doesn't have vomiting or diarrhea. will keep a careful eye on him though.
and the hosta will be put out the front garden tomorrow. taking no chances.
