Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!
Comments
-
sorry - late tonight! just got the grandgirls tucked up in bed and fast asleep!
been busy today and Barnes has mostly had to amuse himself! popped over town this morning as OH was in work.
came back and was having a nice cup of coffee when OH came home (two hours early! he was supposed to work until one but, for a change, all his 'jobs' went smoothly and quickly, so he was able to knock off work early). OH went out to um, customise the interior of his brand new works van (they never do it to his satisfaction). so I was able to whizz round and do the housework. then he wanted to go food shopping so we did that - the day was gorgeous and Barnes was waiting by the French doors when we got back, absolutely dieing to be let out! I still keep a watchful eye on him, that cat is devious! just when you think he understands the rules and is behaving, he will just go and do what he wants and sod you!
he did have a mad half hour after lunch - he ran in from garden as if all the hounds of hell were after him, through the lounge, dining room, the hall and up the stairs into the smallest bedroom - then turned round and tore down the stairs and through downstairs and out the French doors again! then turned round and did it again! and again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just sat there with my mouth open..............then he calmly curled up on a compost bag and watched the birdies!
We then had the grandgirls down for their sleepover - he loves that!
he is currently settled on the bed with them sleeping. I wont see him tonight - he will stay with them.0 -
My Eric does that "mad half hour" thing, only his lasts 2 minutes (well, he is 16 and a half years old !). Occasionally he does it during the night, makes enough noise to wake me up bless him, he's not as light on his feet as he used to be.0
-
HI Ericsmum! lol, Barnes has NEVER been light on his feet! sounds like a human coming down the stairs sometimes!
and tonight.........GD1 and I were in fits laughing at him. GD1 witnessed his 'preparations' to jump on the worktop, then he sat there smiling at us, I had been talking about how clumsy he is when he walked along the worktop, missed his footing and nearly fell off! he wasn't at all put out! and he has been having mad 'five minutes' all evening! and he pooed in the bath again today while we were out - and how the hell he did it without triggering the booby-traps I have no idea! I had made sure that the slightest touch on the curtain would set it off. must have been 'teleportation'! apart from that he spent a good couple of hours outside - because I swear I got him in before we left for mums house. and OH found him out in the garden when he got back from dropping us off! OH left him there as he was going to work on the car and its right outside the back garden. so he isn't 'garden deprived' today!0 -
its been a lovely day today! gorgeous weather until teatime. so Barnes had the afternoon in the garden.
GD1 slept over last night (not one of Atrix's girls, my DDs girl). she is a sweety, but she has Aspergers and complains that cats hate her! my previous cat nicki loved her and she spent a lot of time with him. Barnes loves her too (is it something to do with being ginger and white, I wonder?). he loves her so much he deserted me and slept with her last night! she was thrilled to bits, but complained he both snored and purred at the same time! and he took the band off her ponytail - that's a big problem for her as her hair is so thick and curly she HAS to put it in a ponytail or plait, otherwise its an hour to comb the tangles out!!!!!!!!!!!! (he does that to me too - only my hair is fine and silky, I just ponytail it at night otherwise I chew it in my sleep! and my mum used to tell me I would get hairballs!)
Took extra measures with boobytrap - I raided my craft stuff and got out some little bells and scattered them around the edges of the curtain. and found heavy containers to put each end. that has worked today...................so far.0 -
Boobytraps working so far!
Barnes got a bit agitated today as the sun came out - he wanted to go out too! so I let him out, rofl, he tippy-toed over the puddles on the decking, then tippy-toed over the gravel (he always does, he HATES the gravel), sat on the step and decided it was too windy, or cold, or whatever and came straight back in! and it was my fault - I got 'The Glare'!
he bu99ered off upstairs for a nice nap...............til lunchtime then came down and yowled loudly. ok, got his lunch, which he must have enjoyed as he cleaned the plate. then, because I was sat down playing with my rainbow loom, he came up beside me on the arm of the settee and put his nose right up against my ear and breathed noisily in and out! jeez - he did that for a minute or so, then sneezed....right in my ear!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was howling laughing, so he got offended and stalked off!
yeeeeuuuuch! got a babywipe and cleaned my ear, but, I couldn't stop laughing. still giggling now, thinking about it!
he soon re-appeared as it was time for 'groom and treats'. I found bite marks on him, so he got another flea tablet. Anyone know where I can buy them in bulk?0 -
Hi Meri,
Found a flea on my Hubby this morning so I'm off to buy flea tablets at lunchtime. If you do find them cheap in bulk, let me know
Oh, I'm not going to give Hubby a flea tablet, by the way!0 -
lol - it did cross my mind that you were getting the flea tablets for your husband - thank goodness you disabused me of that notion in your last sentence! I wouldn't have slept tonight!
its been a bit showery today, so Barnes only had brief periods outside before he got rained on! and the forecast isn't great for the next few days. Now he has tasted the delights of the great outdoors he wants to be out all the time! and doesn't understand why it isn't always warm and sunny out there! Its my fault, he thinks. I make it rain! or breezy. I explained to him its in the hands of the 'Ceiling Gods', but he isn't having it...........I get the 'The Glare' full force if he is rained on and has to come in!
at least he hasn't sneezed in my ear today! was up at silly o'clock again, had to go to town after taking GS2 to school so my back was playing up a bit - took a couple of painkillers and settled down with Lee Child (Tripwire - I had borrowed it from Library years ago - but found a paperback in the charity shop and wanted to read it again), so got a crochet blankie out and snuggled up with hot coffee, book and Classic FM. Bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Barnes joined me and we read and napped for an hour or so (well, I read and Barnes napped).
Am usually a fan of heavy metal/rock - but I do adore some classical music, and its perfect music to read by - I think Barnes liked it too.
it was nearly time for groom and treats and Barnes sat 'in the grooming place' and started without me - then all of a sudden he went stiff and fell over on to his back! I thought "oh Sh*t he is having a seizure" and rushed over to help..................except his tongue was stuck on a matt in his fur and he had pulled at it, got it stuck between his teeth too, and toppled over backwards! he was fine!!!!!!!!! just had a clump of fur stuck in his mouth! so he had an extra careful groom today - you could say I went over him with a 'fine toothcomb' - literally!
scared the hell out of me though - my staffy had Major Mal seizures and they always started the same way - her nose would go up, she went stiff then crashed down onto her back! I was envisaging monthly vet visits and bills!0 -
Glad to hear Barnes is ok and it was nothing serious.
My cats always look at me as though to say, "make it stop" whenever it's rainy. Sometimes if it's raining out back, they will actually trot to the front door then look surprise that's it's raining out front too!0 -
lol his missus!
well, it was wet ALL day here - despite the normally quite accurate Carol Kirkwood promising it would dry out during the afternoon. didn't happen. poor Barnes kept going to French doors and looking out, then complained a bit, but nothing I could do about it is there?lol.
He set off the Bath Booby Trap this morning, I ran out of living room Yelling 'BARNEY - YOU BAD CAT', but he whizzed past me before I got to the bottom of the stairs, I went up and reset it. and he set it off before having a poo, so at least I didn't have to do a clean-up! He pretended to be napping on the sofa when I came back downstairs. It was over an hour before he could bring himself to go up and have a poo in his litter tray.He doesn't seem to associate me with the booby trap (I make sure the door is shut while I am setting it). So at least I don't get Glared at.
LOL - I caught him admiring himself in the mirror this afternoon after he had had 'groom and treats' and his lunch! He wasn't aware of me passing the door as he stared intently into the mirror for about two or three minutes...............I crept away laughing quietly. Vain Cat!
Repeat of the snuggle up and read session - I finished my book, and enjoyed it too! Trouble was, I had opened a very large bag of salted nuts, and it was only a raging thirst that alerted me that I had eaten nearly half of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shouldn't snack and read - when I think of all that salt!!!!!!!!!!!! or I should put a small portion into a bowl like I do with the grandkids.0 -
argggh just typed my post for tonight and lost it!
well its only a short one today.
was out and about most of today so Barnes had the house to himself.
Strangely, while OH and I were having lunch, the bath booby trap went off. and it definitely wasn't Barnes, cos he was sat on the rug waiting for his groom and treats!
sorry its such a short one today - but hardly any sleep been running round like a scalded cat all day and am really tired and ready for an early night!
so night all, and I will try to make up for it tomorrow.0
