his missus - I couldn't say..........you know your mum, and the area and your Scrappy, how do YOU feel about it? my son made a sacrifice in giving Barnes to me - but that was after assessing how Barney was. the situation is similar yes - but with two different cats and Barnes was NOT happy in a multi-cat, plus dog, home. if Scrappy is definitely happier at your mums then leave him there if she agrees.

I meant to take pics of my garden wall today - but have been rather busy. and the weather wasn't nice today so Barnes hasn't been allowed out - and he didn't ask either!
I will try to describe it though.
The back wall is only about Two foot high, then there is some decorative Wrought Iron Screen which adds another foot. I have Ivy growing up the wall and it cascades down about 5 foot on the other side of the wall (we are on a hillside).
Barnes jumped onto the top of the wall and into the ivy yesterday and stood there frozen! I think he didn't expect to be up to his neck in ivy! rofl, I had to pick him up and put him back in the garden.......but I could see him eyeing up the wall + ironwork and almost hear him calculating the jump down onto the road.
This is the vulnerable bit of the garden - Do I raise the wall? I don't want to do that as the plants need every bit of sunlight. put higher ironwork? (jeez - that costs an arm and a leg). plant bushes? I prefer option 3 myself.
I am going to re-design the garden anyway - me and OH been talking about it and I want to change it. so hints and tips on 'cat- proofing it would help.

Cant advise really, but I saw this and thought of you. Dunno if you could get one that high, and if it'll have same effect! :D

My moggy is back home and overly attached again. Kinda missed it, but he's still !!!!y about eating, can't decide what cat food/type he wants, howling at me if i walk away further than a room from him, and is threatening to have a go at me!
    :wall: Like normal :D

We had a better day with Scrappy yesterday. He was clingy but not scratchy and drooly, no wet patches, he went out with Blackie and we haven't seen that cat so maybe the dog's presence has deterred him. I'm going to keep him here for another week, see how he is without the dog and go from there. I don't think the issue is the multi cat home, I've had these four for 3 years, the problems started a year ago with the attacks by that cat.

No ideas for your wall. Do you think Barnes will actually want to wander out of the garden after being drowned in ivy?:D

lifeforms - I don't think it will work either, lmao.

his missus - I am sure he thought that the ivy had a solid surface. when he sank through it I couldn't see his face but I bet it was a picture!

Barnes CAN be quite athletic and I did see him today peering over the wall - I am sure he was calculating whether he could leap over the wrought iron onto the roof of the car and simply walking down the bonnet!

We had the Grandgirls sleep over and Barnes enjoyed their company. but they keep me rather busy - mainly getting them food and washing up after them! they also had a baking frenzy and made two kinds of fairy cakes with buttercream icing. they left about noon.
It was rather chilly here this morning, didn't warm up til about lunchtime. Barnes had his lunch and groom and treats. Then I had to go pick up mum to take her down the hospital to see her sister. got back and had to lie down for a while (my mum has that effect on me - I get headaches after a couple of hours of her company). then we decided to spray the house with flea spray, I took Barnes outside while OH did that and then he joined us while the spray worked its magic (I hope!). Barnes had one of those flea tablets yesterday as I spotted a flea on him. so with house done today I just need to be vigilant and get more flea tablets in!

Hi meri, we have fleas here too, grrr! Saw one on Scrappy last night and caught one off Tikka today. Flea tablets all round and another spray of the house.

Tommo has gone home today (Scrappy's still here) and, would you believe, that bloomin' cat has already been menancing my lot from next door's shed!!!

So Barnes is looking for a taste of freedom and adventure, eh?

I hate fleas his missus! sorry you are having to battle them too. as you know OH sprayed the carpets and skirtings in the house yesterday, and I spent part of this afternoon Steam cleaning the mattresses and pillows. ( I have a large quite powerful steamer). Hopefully, that will have done the trick.

checked Barnes carefully and couldn't see any fleas or dirt - but even with my specs on my eyesight isn't great (Specsavers kindly reminded me its time for my eye test this week so I must make an appointment).
went out this morning as I had to get the grandgirls birthday pressies and didn't realise how cold it was, the weather has been so nice this week. got in the car and glanced at the display and it was only 6C! and me dressed for early summer! should have been wearing boots socks, and a winter coat!
by the time the sun came out and it warmed up a bit OH had the back gate wide open painting it - so Barnes didn't get to go out today. he didn't complain though. just lay in the sun coming through French doors happily enough.
May have been because he was absolutely full from lunch - he had another tin of the Chicken and Pumpkin - he absolutely loves that - he ate the lot! then he had one of the small pouches of sheba for his supper and ate all that too. I will leave his dry food down now in case he has the 'midnight munchies'. I really must do a food shop for him - couldn't squeeze it in today as PAH was not on the designated route for todays shopping trips. (Atrix will understand what I mean by that, lol) so I hope they are open on Monday but unless he demands seconds his supply should last til then.

    Hi Meri,

Hope you don't mind me sharing with you but here's a photo of my brood all piled onto me last night.

I think they've missed cuddles whilst the dog's been here. It's not often all 4 cats are in such close proximity to each other without a hiss or a thump ;)

The mornings have been chilly this week. The first part of the garden to catch any sun is the lid of the recycling bins store so the cats start sunbathing there and slowly make their way up the garden with the sunshine ending up on the bench in the evening:D

Lovely pic his missus! gorgeous cats! I can remember being in neighbours house as a child and their cats all wanting to sit on my lap!

my house the front garden gets the morning sun and the back garden the afternoon/evening sun. and it can get very hot on the decking!

Last night Barnes was 'weird'! I shut off computer and went off to bed, Barnes followed me up and jumped on bed. instead of settling on his pillow he wanted to curl up on my head! arrrrggghhh I hate that and he knows it! I took him off my head about three or four times! he got arsey and went back downstairs. I woke up to find him curled up against my back! was only about 5.00 so went back off to sleep - and the bu99er was pulling my hair!!!!!!!!! picked him up and cuddled him - and he wriggled out and stalked off again!
woke up and he was sniffing my face - jeeeez Barnes! cuddled him and he relaxed and went to sleep..........Thanks be!
Wonder what all that was about?
Today he had his usual groom and treats, he had the pleasure of the grandkids for lunch (he hid! too many at once I think).
I was out all afternoon - but he has been his usual self since I came in.

OH had the day off today so we went over to PAH to do a 'Barney shop'. I try to get something different for him to try each month and he gets a new toy. we also popped into poundstretcher and had a wander round pet hut. They had a type of Flea Spot On I hadn't seen before. its by Armitage and it doesn't use the chemicals, it uses essential oils. I have tried all the conventional spot ons (without much success), and for the last month or so have relied on johnsons flea tablets. so I am giving these a go - not expensive at under £2 a treatment. will report on how they are doing! I did the first one this evening and it doesn't smell at all unpleasant. and Barnes has accepted it really well - all the others have had him frantically scratching, but he doesn't seem bothered at all - now if they actually WORK..............I will be ecstatic!

lovely afternoon again so we spent time in the garden - only one escape attempt and he stopped on the command of 'Barney NO!
It is supposed to rain tomorrow - bring it on! will save me watering all the pots!

    just popped back to tell you all this;

Barnes had ate all his supper (gourmet perle sachet) and I was about to put his dry food down for him, I had filled his bowl with his usual dry food and opened the box of a new dry food I wanted to try him on. Then the phone rang, so I left the open box on the worktop. I came back to see Barnes sat on the worktop next to the open box and dipping his paw in.....lol, he hadn't noticed me so I just stood and watched him.
He took a couple of morsels out with his paw, then thrust his head in the box and crunched up a few more, apparently he couldn't get enough so he knocked the box over - and quickly scarfed up as many as he could! rofl!
he noticed me then, so I put a handful of the new dry food on top of the old food in his bowl and put it down for him. jeez that went at the speed of light! he left the old dry food though I think he likes the new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He doesn't have much of the old dry food left - so I will mix the new one in. and buy the big pack next time.
Which one was it? its the 'Seriously Good' chicken variety from PAH.
