rofl - Tikka loves tuna that much? Barnes has cottoned on to the feed two or three dreamies then slip him a flea tablet ploy, he spits it straight out now. so I have to hide them in his treat stick!
post later with his update!
Tikka has been known to hear/smell/sense a can of tuna being opened from a mile away, literally :rotfl: She can be nowhere in sight, somewhere outside and out of view... I position the can opener and turn the handle just a few small times and WHOOOM she's there twirling around my ankles:D0 -
lol - just like barnes can hear the rattle of the dreamies bag no matter how quietly I pick it up! unfortunately, it also sounds like bags of microwave rice - so on my lazy cooking days, Barnes comes running and 'sorry Barnes, that's rice not dreamies'! (yeah, he gets a couple of dreamies - what can I say? I am a softy).
I LOVE Mondays! OH back in work, no GS, the whole day to do what I want!
Sleep in, OH usually gives Barnes his breakfast now when he gets ready for work...........oh pure luxury! (barnes normally comes for an early morning nap and cuddle with me). get up and down a cup of tea - no need for coffee, I can 'come round' slowly if I want to.
Play with Barnes, watch tv, read a book, do some housework - this is the life!
Barnes seems to think Mondays are 'chillout' days too! you would think he found weekends as exhausting as I do - lol! he likes to sleep, eat, sleep eat.............um actually - that Sums up Barnes! If I didn't work at making him play - I think he would just spend his entire life eating and sleeping!0 -
Played with his 'laser pen' today and a handful of dreamies. as Barnes watches the red dot but seems disinclined to 'chase it'. I put dreamies in a variety of places then 'led' him to them using the red dot. He quickly got the hang of that and after five minutes he sort of 'speeded' up instead of 'stalk mode'. Stalk mode is slow! and I mean SLOW! you can barely see him move! lol
fur coming back nicely but he is still scratching at a couple of healing scabs and making them bleed again - like a little boy who keeps picking the scabs on his knees!!!!!!!!
forgot to reset the bath booby trap after my shower this morning and he used his litter tray twice and ignored the bath! habit may finally be broken but I will just remove the 'traps' (plastic dolphins) for a few days, then leave the shower curtains open a bit. if that is ok then perhaps we can have a shower without all the palaver!0 -
GS day today so its up at silly o'clock. no sign of him again, (sighs) she has forgotten to text again to say DS is fetching him up. I could have had another half hour or so in dreamland!
at least Barnes gets his early breakfast. and I get coffee and time to 'wake up'!
Barnes greets GS and bu99ers off upstairs to sleep! GS wants to go on computer so 'nanny' gets to sip coffee and watch the news for a while!
Get back from the school 'run' and Barnes wants groom and treats! at 9.25am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unheard of! okay, we do groom and treats. the little sod is still scratching off healing scabs! back to the catnip infusion. but I added a little sea salt too. he has had THREE groom and treat sessions today! and it seems, finally, to stop the 'constant' scratching. I will do it again before bedtime. but where the scabs have healed his fur is growing in nicely!
we had a lovely cuddle earlier - and he reached up and licked my nose! he has never done that before........I was almost in tears!0 -
my Giz doesn't let me cuddle him very often, but he does like to give me head bumps which my pasts cats have done but they were cuddly cats!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

well the catnip and sea salt infusion is working - but he really isn't enjoying being drenched in it three times today! even if he does get rewarded with 'dreamies'. (I must nominate the inventors of 'Dreamies' for a Nobel Award!)
I am getting 'The Glare' and he goes 'Squeeking' to OH! rofl.
its stopping him scratching though. its a short post tonight as Barnes is rather annoyed with me today, and kept out of my way as much as he can! he is 'hiding' upstairs instead of watching tv with OH!0 -
Barnes woke me up this morning! squeeked in my face! and patted me on the arm! looked at clock and it was 5.30!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! oh no Barney, way too early! turned over and TRIED to go back to sleep....he wasn't having it, kept patting me and squeeking, so I picked him up and cuddled him! he stalked off and I got another half hour of dozing before he did it again! lol.
ok - got up, got his breakfast and sneaked back to bed! but, it was light, I wanted a cuppa and a ciggy, arrrhhh - had to get up. GS day and as I hadn't had a text was expecting GS at silly o clock. um, his dad brought him up much later. I am getting a bit annoyed now - I am not a mindreader and a text telling me what time to expect GS is not much to expect is it?
Barnes seems to be a bit confuzzled too. he sat by front door for ages expecting GS. but GS didn't arrive at expected time so he bu99ered off upstairs then and napped.
apart from that we had a good day. thorough grooming and he got swabbed down with his catnip infusion. which is working. we had a game of catnip mouse and he condescended to bat a ping pong ball across the living room before stalking off in a snit! I have no idea why - but I got 'The Glare' as he went out!0 -
Barnes must know its Saturday - he let me lie in! and came and curled against my back. and enjoyed a nice lie in with me. I couldnt help waking early, but as long as I don't desperately need a wee/cuppa/ciggy I am quite happy to doze.
Barnes was in playful mode today - he went over to his toy basket and he started rooting around looking for something...........his first catnip mouse! he had a nice roll around and cuddle with that, then, went back to his basket and pulled out 'fishyonnaline'. okay, that requires my participation, so I played with that for a while with him. he got bored with that and went up for a nap.
he came back down an hour or so later and went through his toy basket again...........(whats going on here? he hasn't played this much in ages). he started fishing out ping pong balls, but he wasn't content with one - and he seemed amused by the way they scattered as he batted them out of the basket! result - 'pingpongballsundersofas' game! The game was watching me get down on floor and try to retrieve them from under the sofas, the tv stand, the telephone table etc. I don't like that game much! Can we play 'pingponguppastairs'? naw - he had had enough play and preferred to go nap!0 -
it has been the most glorious spring day here in sunny south wales! I dared taking Barnes out without a harness on and sat watching him 'explore' the garden (shouldn't take long - its tiny). I think he sniffed every plant and seemed to form an attachment to the 'box' plant. he sniffed it, he rubbed himself against it, sniffed it some more and finally thrust his head right into it! and stayed there apparently entranced! forget catnip - this cat is heavily into 'box'! he did try to get out through bars of the gate but a stern 'Barney NO' stopped him. he settled happily enough on some bags of compost (I should imagine the sun had warmed them up nicely) and kept OH company as OH pottered about. he seemed happy to be out, and I left him outside with OH as long as poss. (I was cooking sunday lunch). Both OH and I were out this afternoon - and when we got home Barnes rushed downstairs and yowled happily at us.
lol - he knows when I get in on sundays its suppertime for him so I opened a tin of Applaws chicken with pumpkin, he hasn't had that before and I was a little taken aback at how ORANGE it is. well, he wolfed that down and he was a right nuisance after .....................dumb furmummy that I am - I didn't realise he wanted seconds! thats half gone now. he will probably have the rest as a late night snack. he is watching tv with OH now and I can hear occasional squeeks and OHs responses - its quite funny, it sounds like Barnes is commenting and OH agreeing!0 -
I really enjoy reading these! Having just come back from a two and a half week "holiday" visiting my new niece, with my almost 3 nephew, brother and sister in law, my moggy has been staying with my parents and her two.
He's been getting up to mischief, kicked the Bengal out her own special box/bedroom - oops! So she's not been best pleased. But had finally settled enough to allow a few mins of quick lap time. Still does his trick of if you breathe, move, or in my dads case twitch, then he'll panic and run.
Should be interesting to see what he's like when he returns back today. Whether he's going to go all loving, or if he's going to be on the warpath because I deserted him! I have prestocked with Tuna though. Bribery0
