so Blackie and Scrappy are now semi-permanent or permanent residents of your mums home now? lol glad that scrappy can do without his chill-pills though.
QUOTE]
Meritaten, this has yet to be decided/confirmed. Mum's off on holiday in a few weeks so they'll both me back at mine for a week (along with the dog - blimey, my house is going to feel busy!) so I think we'll see how they are at mine. Thing is, that bully cat's been around again this morning so I'm back to locking them in, which Blackie doesn't like and, the bully cat has already attacked Scrappy 3 times in the past, all leading to visits to the vets...
Does Barnes do that "bum wiggle" just as he's about to pounce on his stalked prey?0 -
I dunno his missus - I have never seen him stalk before! when playing he just pounces or casually bats toys around.0

I haven't seen much of Barnes today! he has spent most of it 'napping' on upstairs windowsill.
He did come down about 3.45 as its Tuesday and the day his human sisters come here for a few hours after school. he greeted them with affection then bu99ered off to nap! didn't see him til about 8.00 when he came down and yowled loudly outside the kitchen. I told him I had already done his supper! he ate some and is now watching TV with OH. before he retires for the night he will eat some more supper have a drink and a wee. then join me to sleep til morning (hopefully).0 -
I think Barnes is quite a 'solitary' creature at heart. he spends an awful lot of time on his own - by his own choice!
was thinking about this today - he likes to have a couple of hours TV time with OH on the settee in the evenings - but during the day he spends most of it on upstairs windowsills napping! now he is perfectly welcome to join me on my Settee (once I have finished my chores). I have the TV on (to drown out next doors TV) and usually read or craft. he chooses not to. he does come and check on me every hour or so. gets a kiss and cuddle and back upstairs he goes!he may snack from his daytime bowl and have a nice drink of water - but he doesn't hang around! after 'groom and treats' we usually play - but ten minutes and he has had enough and is off for a nap! he sometimes wants playtime in the evening - which is fine with me.
only rarely will he join me on settee and that is usually to give me a cat massage. somehow he 'knows' if my back is really bad or I am feeling a bit poorly! but its not a regular thing! depends very much on Barnes mood.0 -
You paint such a vivid picture of your life with Barnes (or should that be his life with you ? !). I "tune in" every evening to see what he's been up to.0
-
Thank you Erics mum!
I know Barnes has a large fan base by the amount of 'views' the thread gets, but, its nice when people post to say they read it.
his missus asked if Barnes does the 'bum wiggle', so I have watched him closely when he is jumping up to the windowsills. He doesn't bum wiggle, but you know that 'rocking' action that high jumpers and long jumpers do before starting their run-up? he does that! then takes a leap, most times he succeeds but sometimes he only gets his front paws on and slides inexorably backwards like a cartoon cat! he lands with a heck of a thump too!
and that's given me an idea............why don't we have a Q & A session? If you want to know anything about Barnes I haven't mentioned, just post and I will endeavour to answer!0 -
The past few evenings OH has been telling Barnes off for napping on the kitchen worktop - after Barnes has watched enough telly and before bed.
I know why now. Got flowers for Valentines day didn't I, and put them in huge glass vase on kitchen windowsill! now that has offended Barnes sensibilities, windowsills are for cats NOT vases of flowers! he also cant move the vase - its way too heavy! so he naps just under his usual place. OH really doesn't like cats on worktops - I am not too bothered as I clean them BEFORE I cook anyway.
He wins - I will move the vase!0 -
please be aware that lily pollen is poisonous to cats, if it gets on their coats and they wash it off it attacks their kidneys.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Yes scaredy, I love lilies but haven't bought any for just that reason since getting Barnes.
but its good to remind people, its easy to forget to cut the stamens off if someone has given you some.0 -
apologies people! late posting I know, as grandgirls sleeping over and I just now got them settled down. we were on lolcats thread and I didn't realise the time!
K had a good giggle at Barnes. apparently, he was napping on the worktop and she stroked him, startling him and he swished his tail and sent a teaspoon flying across the kitchen.
moving the vase of flowers right across the kitchen windowsill didn't work............he wont nap there even though there is plenty of space. now is it the vase or the flowers he objects to I wonder?
talking of which, I only have some basil and parsley growing there now, stopped buying other herbs to give Barnes more 'room'! I love fresh herbs but am using dried instead.
Talk about ruling the household! lol, I work around Barney!
He 'helped' me get two of the girls to bed and OH took the one who had already fallen asleep. I think he was hoping he would be left in there to sleep on Ks pillow above her head, but OH turfed him out.
rofl - I heard him go upstairs earlier and for some reason he yowled all the way up................heard him pad into the bathroom and thought 'My gawd, he is announcing when he is going for a poo now!' and he was! does he expect me to wait outside bathroom door and swoop in and clean it up as SOON as he is finished? I think so! Sorry Barnes - Adoring I may be - but it gets cleaned in MY own good time!0
