Hi Meritaten, sorry I disappeared, DS was off school for a few days with a wee bug, followed the next day by his birthday and in between I was building a volcano for a solo talk he had to give at school on his birthday - there is no way I could have stood up at primary school and gave a presentation but he just loves it....in fact I still couldn't do it now
Anyway normal service has resumed and your absolutely right I love coming on here and reading up on Barnes and his antics, I have a 3 year old brother and sister and I just adore them, DH and both kids 'lovingly' refer to me as the crazy cat lady lol
So thank you for all you fab posts! xx:D0 -
oh thanks nonnie! I was just worried you were ill or something. you never fail to 'thank' posts and I have gotten into the habit of checking who 'thanked' my posts. noticed you hadn't 'thanked' and got worried!
yeah, I know the feeling of 'helping' with a school project - been there, done that and am now exhausted this weekend! one full 'red dragon head mask' now complete! tbh, K has outdone herself - her mask is AWESOME! C did a wonderful job on hers (but she did change her project as she rejected her first one) and G did the minimum possible! what was exhausting for me was trying to juggle the three of them! especially as Ks project was extremely complicated.0 -
Nonnie - thanks for 'thanking' me and letting me know that at least one person out 'there' is reading Barnes thread.
and now I want to know about your 'kits'! do tell!0 -
Took the defective toy back to PAH, was willing to exchange it for another one - but the only one left was broken! got him a 'kickeroo' and another one with satin covering (he loves his satin pillowcase) and a crinkly inner!
hidden them now - he can have one tomorrow at playtime. will rub catnip over it, he loves to play with toys smelling deliciously of catnip!0 -
Ooohh I haven't been to PAH for a while but those toys sound good, will have to pop over soon. My two absolutely love their Da Bird, they go wild over it and I have to store it on top of my fridge freezer so they can't get to it!
My little girl is a lovely pure black ninja assassin....a wee small thing who hates going into her carrier for the vets and actually burst out of the door and broke it the last time, boy she's fast but I couldn't stop laughing. On the other hand Fat Sam (because he is on a diet) is a big cuddly lazy lump who is just a character. Perhaps you might be able to answer this, have you ever known a cat to stretch it arms up to be lifted like a baby? Sam does this all the time and it's soo cute and like Barnes he loves being cradled like a baby, if I can get DH to help me tomorrow I'll post a wee pic of them x0 -
aww - I would love to see pics nonnie.
First Cat Timmy sussed out the cat carrier. he could open it from the inside! he had small paws and could get them through the front grid and he 'felt around, and turned the closer', then opened the door and escaped! until we tied it up. then when we got him to vets we couldn't get him out! we had to dismantle the carrier!lol
Barnes loves to be cuddled like a baby - but my other cats wouldn't have it. Nicki, my second cat, was a softy, but he wasn't a lapsitter either. and he wouldn't be 'cuddled'. he sat on my lap for grooming, and would sit happily there, but if you stroked him he was off! Timmy, (First Cat) was a feisty sort of cat.......you wouldn't dream of 'cuddling' him! until he was about 9, then he wanted to be cwtched a bit.0 -
Tribbles is in between currently. I've been abandoning him for a few weekends at my Parents to get him used to being there in an emergency, and also if I go away it saves on Kitty Jail Kosts. He's been an aloof cat most of his life. Just terribly imprinted on me as I had him from 5/6 weeks old. But I think as he spends time away, and then returns he's becoming more loving as the years go by. Now he's seven, and whilst I can't pick him up for a long cuddle, he will come for fusses and want to sit next to me adoring me.
Mind I will still pick him up for a cuddle, he just doesn't appreciated it, and he's a large heavy lump to lapsit, so I'm almost glad he doesn't.
He hip sits when i'm lying on my side and i feel like someones dropped a small heavy table on it, with the 4 paw pressure points.
He's awkward in a carrier. I have to use a big one, and he just moves back and forth. I've seriously considered buying him one on wheels or a pushchair typed one, cept I've got a full flight of stairs to get onto street where I live, so gotta carry him anyway.
I am still reading, I get it as a daily digest, so read from there. I love Barnes updates, so please don't stop.0 -
Don't worry - Will post about Barnes as long as people read the thread! a bit concerned you will all get bored though!
I love to read peoples pet stories - so if yours made you laugh (or cry), please feel free to come here to share it with us!
BBL with the 'proper' update!0 -
hmmm - got the Kong Kickeroo out today and tried to tempt Barnes to play with it. No WAY! I even rubbed more Catnip in it...........wasn't interested at all! Just looked at it (and me) with mild bewilderment, stood up, yawned and sauntered off for a windowsill nap.
am I disheartened? well, yes actually.......I thought he would like it at least! Perhaps he is having an 'off' day, though he did enjoy a game of pingponguppastairs earlier. Maybe he had had his quota of 'play' today?
will try it again tomorrow - or in a few days.
he isn't eating quite as much dry food as he should, so I thought 'Lets try a 'canned' food for his lunch. I took up the dry food at about 11.00 and put down a third of a can of Supermeat (Duck and Heart, he loves Duck usually)at about 12.30. he normally eats about then before his 'groom and treats'.
roflmao - he walks in kitchen and sniffs the plate suspiciously, licks it, tastes it cautiously, sits and thinks for a minute, then has a mouthful. jumps up and goes to the bottom of the stairs and proceeds to either laugh himself silly or cough up a furball (with no furball)! ohhhKaayyyy! then he comes back and eats a few more mouthfuls, and walks away. has a windowsill nap upstairs for a minute, comes down, has a few more mouthfuls. goes back for nap til 1.00 and then comes down for 'groom and treats'.
Left me confused - does he secretly like it? eating it cos he is hungry and nowt else on offer? he ate all his Gourmet Perle pouch tonight. usually he leaves a bit for Ron.
hmmmm might need to feed it him again tomorrow to see what he does.0 -
The top photo is one of my favourite of the two together because they usually always sleep apart, second is Sam's favourite place when I'm trying to use the computer and as you can see if I'm watching tv on the couch Sam is out cold
Sorry for the size of the pics, took me ages to do this but I can't seem to make them smaller, sorry x0
