I've run out of things to say! Barnes slept, ate and got groomed and treated!
He did come and have a cuddle, and dripped his drinking water all over my front, That Brucie chin holds a LOT of water!
arrgghh - perhaps its because I am distracted by things going on in the human part of family life! Apologies for the poor post tonight!

even so - I have noticed Nonnie is absent the last couple of days. U ok Nonnie?

Don't feel you have to post daily, Meritaten. Let's be honest, cats don't tend to lead the most exciting of lives - sleep, eat, sleep, eat, wash, sleep, occasionally chase a fly/moth/piece of rubbish...

I do wonder what mine get up to when they're out prowling the neighbourhood though.

I feel obliged to post his missus! I know that people read this thread daily, and as Barnes 'Manager' I don't want to disappoint his adoring fans! (He may sack me!)
He has had his supper and is napping on kitchen windowsill - its hailstoned too often for him today and his usual favourite windowsill is right in the 'line of fire'!
I think he realised that OH has gone in to work tonight - his van is missing from outside. at least he isn't searching the housing yowling as loudly as he can!

I usually enjoy recounting Barnes 'day', I lead a boring life too!

Barnes' Manager or Barnes' Servant? ;) We all know cats believe we are their servants at their beck and call.

Scrappy and Blackie are returning home on Sunday along with the dog. I'm not quite sure how it's all going to work out as the 3 who are with me have got into certain routines and may be unsettled by the other 2 coming back and demanding their old sleeping places back. Tikka & Casper also dislike the dog so will probably spend the week hissing/avoiding him (poor dog only wants a quick sniff to say hello) and Harley will be glad to have Scrappy back to play though I think Scrappy may have got out of playing with being at Grandma's.

I do think at least Scrappy will be returning to Grandma's afterwards. That cat's been around the past few evenings (even chased Harley kitten in one night) and mum says Scrappy's really got into going out at hers.

Barnes shared a cuddle with ME!!! today. I went in mums he hadn't noticed nor heard me come in and stayed upstairs, 20 mins later my father wakes from his slumber, Barney decides if he's getting up Ill go on down stairs, he see's me in the dining room and lets out a yelp (as if to say When did you get here? I didn't hear you come in?), he goes on into the living room says hello to my nephew rubs himself against mum, come back to the hall way and "talks" to me, I pick him up (like you would hold a new born baby), and rock him back and forth gently, the look on face was OI I like being cradled like a baby but im NOT A BABY! so I desist in doing it, he then stretches out in my arms, puts both paws on his tummy and stretches out his back legs and looks at me as if to say if your going to do something useful then tickle my tummy instead of staring at me and trying to sneak a kiss on the nose! 2 mins of a tummy tickle he let a yelp out saying "it's now put me down time and feed me dreamies"!

but I only ever give him dreamies when meritaten says its ok to do it, he may have a dicki tummy and I don't want to cause some supergloop-super sour smelling-bring water to your eyes poo's.

Hope Mum don't mind the post, thought I would share a perspective and give you all a snippet in the huge leaps and bounds progress he has made down mums, certifies to me that the decision we all made was the right one!.
quite shocked but humbled at the same time as he never ever allowed me to do this even when he was at mine!.

You are always welcome to post Atrix!
He lets me nurse him like a baby as long as I scratch his back at the same time.

its ok to give him dreamies - I don't feed the recommended amount so he can have some off the grandkids if they come in. a few over wont make much difference anyway. just don't give him 'treatsticks' without checking with me. unlike dreamies they are quite high in calories. He rarely gets a bad tummy - I am very careful to avoid his allergy 'triggers'.

Barnes came down to get his brekkie off OH when he came in at 6.15, but I was getting up anyway. he ate then went back to bed til 11.00 and got up in time for a bit of a fuss or play with GS2. he was surprised to see Atrix!

I do think it's lovely how Atrix is so happy for Barnes- not everyone would feel so good about it .

I was really hesitant at first, I know mum loves cats, but dad not so keen, its not dad hates them, its the fact that he gets attached to them and when they pass he gets really upset deep down inside, then he convinces himself that that's the last and then he gets used to the idea of a petless house plus his OCD with cleaning the house plays a part, so i hesitated in asking mum, i really wanted to find out if Barnes wanted to an only cat, even if it were a temporary time with mum, i could finally sus out that aspect and rehome him to someone respectful and experienced with no other pets or children.

i was shocked when dad said he would allow Barnes a temporary stay, after time went on and Barnes making progress in training mum and softening dad up, mum falling in love and had warmed really quickly to Barnes and his character, i knew at that point, Barnes wasn't going anywhere, plus it didn't seem right to take Barnes away from a situation that he obviously loved the arrangements of he's in his oils there it wouldn't have benefitted him taking him away placing him back with me and undoing what mam and dad has done so well for him and it could have taken months to find the right place for him.

i also reap the benefits of seeing Barnes regularly the kids reap the rewards to see him, play with him, and Barnes loves it.

im so pleased with what progress that has been made.

Not had a terribly good day - had to get up at sparrowfart - did Barnes food shop with two grandkids in tow, GD1 had sleptover and I had GS2 (her cousin) for his mum to work. that was ok except GS2 asked every two minutes if he could go to the park after. arrrrggghhhh - the answer was 'yes, ok' every time! and he was rather 'hyper' this morning.........showing off I think!
Succumbed and bought Barnes that remote control ball and wand thingy - and it doesn't work! put in the batteries I had at home and just got a whirring noise, bought all new 'Super' Alkaline batteries with same result! not sure I will have time to return it tomorrow, maybe Monday. I hate it when that happens! arrrghhh!
bought the Seriously range he loved last time - and he turned his nose up tonight! arrrrgh again! (mind you, I was 'Seriously' late doing his supper! due to making a papier mache dragons head out of an old supersize Lenor bottle and glue and scrap paper - don't ask! just don't ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I can hear Barnes in kitchen now, scoffing his supper - must have been a protest 'hunger strike' cos I was late! or he has somehow 'divined' what I just typed and decided to make a liar out of me!
and OH has devoted the whole day to Peeeing me off! honestly, men can be such TWITS!

I have had a hectic weekend, Barnes on the other hand, has had his 'usual' weekend. HE can disappear upstairs for 'windowsill naps' and come down and demand attention. and get it. HE can join the kids or ignore them. a few yowls and a tap from a paw and grandkids want to give him 'treats'. and he KNOWS that!
Spoilt rotten he is! and he deserves it - his routine is disrupted, he gets his groom and treats and his meals at 'odd' hours. well that's HIS opinion! He just takes it out on me later. he did his 'staring eyes behind the monitor' thing - never fails to startle me!
he waits until I am away from the computer then jumps behind the monitor, and when I am busy typing away - UP he pops and stares at me! all I can see is glowing orbs! I am getting used to it now, but pretend to be startled and swear a bit! he then elegantly hops over monitor and jumps onto floor, and I am sure he is laughing! Its a CAT JOKE!
