Bought Barnes his normal PAH dry food last Saturday as I noticed his back was a bit scabby and he was scratching a lot. When I did Barnes food shop earlier this month they were out of his usual food so I bought 'Go Cat' dry food. after a week back on PAH dry food am Pleased to report that he is less itchy, and his scabs are all dropping off! There doesn't seem to be anything 'wrong' with the Go Cat one - it just doesn't suit Barnes, even though I mixed in what was left of the PAH one for the first few days.
he also put on a pound this week! he loves those 'Seriously' pouches from PAH too - I have to go get some more as I only bought one box to 'try'. He is a really fussy eater - loves Applaws tins of chicken or chicken and cheese, the Gourmet Perle Pouches, and Sheba Terrine Pouches. he gets the occasional 'melt' from frozen meat, but often just turns away but sometimes he laps it up! he loves the shavings from the meat slicer!!!!!!!!!! loves Saturdays cos the grandgirls ALWAYS ask for 'Pub Prawns' (that's prawn cocktail served in wine glasses with seafood sauce, which they fight over making! lol), so Barnes gets a rare treat of prawns too. funny how he tolerates prawns yet cant tolerate fish. must be the reverse of those humans who can tolerate fish yet not prawns or other shellfish. he will accept a tiny bit of cottage cheese but isn't keen on cheddar. adores ice cream! (bad for him so he only gets it if he is sneaky - usually I wont let him have any, but, his human sisters take pity on him and sneak him fingerfulls).
I hid the flower vase BEHIND the Basil and he now naps on kitchen windowsill again! lol, it must be the vase as he can see the flowers above the Basil!

The girls must have gone to the bathroom in the night and left door open - and of course Barnes slept with them! I peeked in about 6.30am and he was on the pillow above K & Cs heads! left him there - they obviously didn't mind!

Go Cat biscuits gave my old boy cat crystals in his bladder so he has to go onto a expensive hills SD food.

He's out on the prowl at the mo so might get some sewing done. He's gone off to investigate a new cat across the road, she's a pretty little thing called Candy.

oooohhhh - lovely lazy day today! Barnes and I got up around 8.30 and I gave him breakfast. he disappeared to 'nap' for an hour or so. I didn't have many chores so decided to investigate some colouring techniques for the grandgirls. ALL of them are really into colouring! I found a couple of colouring books intended for grown ups (I nearly said 'adult' then, but that gives a different connotation). I have a good range of promarkers but want them to explore different 'media'. so I bought some 'cheap' colouring pencils - yeuchhh! I need better ones! will be searching for 'bargains' before the girls come down again.
Barnes came down a couple of times, checked I was ok, had his 'kiss and cuddle' and toddled off for more napping.
he was insistent that it was time for groom and treats at 11.45! hour early but hey, its Sunday!
bought new nail clippers so he got a manicure! or is that 'caticure'. Whatever, he HATES it. wouldn't even be bribed with dreamies. OH has to hold him in the 'Nurse' position and somehow keep his paws in place. and then he is saying 'oh come on, hurry up, he doesn't like it,...............Bludddy ell! I KNOW he doesn't like it, and YOU try finding his claws in all that FUR! then just as you get the clippers positioned, he jerks and OH loses his grip ...................arrrrgh!
we ended up with three out of four paws clipped and counted it a 'good' manicure! the other paw will be dealt with tomorrow - when OH and I have recovered from the stress!
Barnes came back for his Webbox treat stick though! he wasn't going without that! I wasn't forgiven - he has been a bit 'frosty' with me all day! wont let me touch him. oh dear - but he was getting 'Velcro-ed to the carpet again!
Thought I had better give him a really nice supper and the little bu99er ignored the Sheba Terrine. (then sneaked down half hour later and ate it, he thinks I haven't noticed).lol
Barnes must be upset with us - he didn't join OH for 'Telly Hour'!

    Hi!

Went to visit mum and my two little stooges on Saturday. They did eventually come to greet me, once the dog had had his mad 15 minutes, but then they returned to Grandma's lap and side. They're going to be in for a shock (well we all are) when they return home with the dog for a holiday on Sunday. I suspect they'll be packing their bags and plannign to return to Grandma's as soon as she's back ;)

Eric is so cute but he does look like he's thinking "take that camera away, I'm trying to sleep"

I wish you could hear him - he was purring like a little engine after eating handful of catnip "choc drops" from PAH.

It reminded me that I had some catnip teabags in his cupboard so I tied them up in an old sock and he spent the rest of the evening asleep on the floor with his head on the sock !

Do all cats like catnip ?

Barnes likes the smell of catnip, but, he wont eat it! his first pressie from me (catnip mouse which is really a hedgehog) gets played with very enthusiastically but gently IYKWIM? he takes care of it. its also his 'go to' toy just to cuddle.
other catnip toys have been played with much more roughly and the last one is just about ready for the bin! It was felt, but looks more like mohair now!

Barnes is giving me the 'frosty' treatment - he always does after his nails have been clipped. he aint too pleased with my partner in crime, OH, either! no TV companionship tonight! or it may be that Barnes didn't approve of programme choice?

I didn't even get a cat massage even though I was laying on settee. (He still checked on me - just wouldn't interact with me.
He still demanded 'groom and treats', but the second I was finished and gave him his treat stick he was off!

Barnes has 'defrosted' towards me - I am delighted to say! I think he missed cuddles as much as I did, cos he has invited loads today! His 'invite' to cuddle involves jumping up beside me on settee, Squeeking pitifully and gently tapping my shoulder. If I ignore him he gets more insistent and finally 'whups' me upside the head! That usually works - my 'training' is going well! lol
OH was down sons helping him lay laminate in their 6yr olds bedroom (may look nice, but, I bet they regret that when he is clomping about up there - or when he has friends over), Barnes does NOT approve of OH going anywhere in the evening. He has been looking all over the house for him. I bet a pack of treat sticks that Barnes wont watch TV with him now! Barnes does 'ignoring' really well.

edit - Lost my bet! Barnes is stretched out across OHs lap getting stroked.
