Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!
Comments

rofl - mellows him out? it sends him into a coma! honestly, he will sleep for hours after his catnip wipe down! you could march a whole orchestra playing loudly past his ears and he wouldn't open an eyelid!0

I did wonder if catnip from different places or parts of the world affected cats differently. anyone know of any 'Persian' Catnip?
because Basil tastes a bit different according to where its grown why wouldn't catnip?
hmmm - he is American Born and was there for about a year - perhaps I should be looking for 'baggies' of Californian Catnip? lol - the kong stuff and what's supposed to be the 'best' catnip from PAH doesn't really 'float his boat'. its the toy he likes (or not).
Lifeforms, I have seen catnip from other places and will try them. because this stuff I have, he wont eat and he doesn't seem to like the smell that much, but licking it off himself because I have um, drenched him in it and he wants to dry his fur..................its like, chillout, mellow, man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZONK! out for hours!
I gave him a catnip wipe down about twenty minutes ago, and just went to stroke him, looked in his eyes and OMG, hardly any iris showing - his pupils are almost fully dilated, in a well lit room! he is high as a kite! oh dear, roflmao - I bet he will sleep till morning now, cos he was thoroughly sponged down! I think I had best let him sleep it off.0 -
He probably is very stoned! I would shop around for catnip. Avoid the usual suspects though. I would imagine the cheaper is generic stuff. Bit like cat food, I do believe each cat has a preference to the nip. I have never found an in shop generic catnip item that the cat liked.
Yeowww is an American based product, actually so is Kong though. All I can say is there is a big difference to kong vs Yeowww with my cat (parents cats as well, as they both prefer Yeowww, and ditch the kong toys I passed on after mine turned his nose up at them).
http://www.duckyworld.com/ is Yeowww, and I know it sounds like product placement, but they claim catnip toys that actually work. Frankly I first bought some sardines just to prove them wrong, though it was me who was proven wrong. I haven't seen them in the shops though, but the one sardine on amazon is pretty cheap, cheaper than some toys in P@H, so I'd say risk one and see.
hmm, Having had a look, the singles are add on items only, so I've also bought them off ebay before as well, single is under £4 postage free here. (obviously searched cheapest one, no real preference in seller) But I will say buy one to try with Barnes, if he doesn't do anything with it I will buy it off you (actual price, and with postage to send to me) if you'd like, as I know mine will kill itThat way you can't lose out.
If it's cat nip on it's own, you can buy the stuff Yeowww puts in toys

Sorry I haven't been following for the past week. My head hasn't been in the right place recently. Harley kitten, the kitten dad found, has gone missing, been missing a week now and it's just so upsetting.
Nonnie, Blackie has ripped ears due to fighting, the ragamuffin that he is.
I think Scrappy will be heading back to grandma's this weekend. Less than 2 weeks with us, meritaten, and he's overgrooming already! Obviously there's been a lot of stress in the house this week with Harley disappearing but still...0 -
aww missus. that's awful!! I do hope you find him! keep us posted!
would you like to post a pic on this thread and give your general area? perhaps one of the 'lurkers' has seen him? its a long shot I know.........but if it will help?
Barnes, for some reason, will NOT leave me alone tonight! he has stuck to me like glue! he has wedged himself into the space between my keyboard and the monitor. okay, so he benefits from strokes when I am reading and not typing...............but, it cant be very comfortable for him! and this keyboard isn't exactly the quietest I have ever had. and my typing is fairly fast, as I learned to touch type many, many years ago! on old manual typewriters. computers are great though - no need for TIPPEX!0 -
come back to share with you an amusing moment.
went off to make a new 'catnip infusion' to wipe Barnes down before bedtime, and noticed he immediately jumped down onto my 'computer chair'. it just a bog-standard office swivel chair I have had for years.
Atrix's cat Felix used to love it - he loved you to spin the chair, the faster the better! (Atrix, remember how he would put out his paw and claws to snag you as you walked past, so the chair would spin and you would then 'spin' him round?)
so I gave Barnes a gentle 'spin', he seemed to like it so I have spent five minutes spinning Barnes! jeez - he is just like Felix! the faster it goes the better he likes it! rofl! and he isn't even 'stoned'. his last catnip rubdown was at 1.00 pm!0 -
bit late tonight sorry - had an hour or two down the 'Arms'!
was a GS day today and Barnes as usual did his 'meet and greet'! had his breakfast and disappeared!
came down in time for GS to say goodbye as he went to school. I cant work out how he times it exactly! if GS and I are catching the bus we go at 8.45, when OH is home its 8.52 or thereabouts. but a minute before we go - Barnes appears squeeking 'bye bye'!
OH was home today and apart from some pottering about in the garden this morning, he wanted to go out. so Barnes got a spin on the chair when we came back from school, another spin when I passed him to do coffee for elevenses, and a catnip rubdown at 11.30. because he had to have his 'groom and treats' at 12.00 because we went out for the afternoon.
came back to find him 'zonked on the worktop with all four paws in the air'............roflmao! I had left the catnip infusion uncovered and suspect he had been helping himself!
He has been awfully 'loving' to OH tonight - to the point where OH is going 'for crissake Barnes - enough' and 'Barnes! Claws! that hurts!'
(snigger) teach me not to forget to put the lid on the catnip rubdown lotion! I think I will 'forget' tonights rubdown - think he has had enough!0 -
jeez its late and I am a bit knackered! had GS again this morning and boy was he 'hyper'! then the grandgirls requested a 'sleepover' and I have only just now got them settled into bed. Fair dos, they have been good - spent the evening colouring in with my expensive colouring pencils - the cheaper ones I buy for them to use????????well, the girls know that quality craft stuff gives better results! so they use the 'good stuff'! Barnes has 'Supervised', demanded occasional strokes and cuddles and got them. he has had as much attention as he wants and he loves it! one happy kitty!
right now he is demanding attention from OH.........who is quietly going 'Barney barnes, had enough of the kids now have you?' and stroking him on his lap. lol.
It was an absolutely glorious afternoon here in the South Wales Valleys, so Barnes and I spent some of it outside in the garden. Barnes did 'perimeter checks' at least three times and then settled in the tiny patio area while I sat on the much warmer decking. we must have been out there about an hour and a half before Barnes got bored and tried to explore outside the gate. That's a 'NO NO'. The lane may be at the rear, but some residents seem to think it has a 70mph limit! I fear for the life of the little girl opposite, she is only about 5 and she likes to ride her trike up and down the lane - it really isn't safe.
Barnes must have enjoyed the Sheba Terrine supper - he ate it all and requested more! (he sits in front of empty plate and yowls, LOUDLY). so he got more!! why not? he isn't fat and if he wants seconds of something he enjoys, I don't see the harm.
Girls seem to be asleep now - I bet Barnes will join them just as soon as one goes to the bathroom and leaves bedroom door open. He loves those kids, and loves sleeping with them.0 -

Hi Meritaten!
I bought Sheba for Scrappy yesterday as a treat (he's back at Grandma's now) and I swear he was saying "nom, nom, nom" as he ate it, he was certainly making a funny sound. I don't think he appreciated us all laughing at him whilst he was doing it though. He turns into a really fussy eater at my mum's so I decided to go in with the big guns from the start, so to speak.
Still no sign of Harley kitten, think I've lost all hope now0
