We had GS2 again today - he was off school cos he has a bad chest infection. and his mum had an appointment. so Barnes got 'kidtime' again! GS helped me do 'groom and treats'. couldn't help noticing how gentle Barnes was in taking Dreamies from GS's hands! I told GS to put them on floor in front of Barney, but Barnes wasn't waiting for that! he just took them out of GS's fingers! made GS giggle as Barnes licked his fingers as he took the treats! he doesn't do that with me! Barnes is brill with kids - he really likes them. very gentle but playful. for about ten minutes...........then he goes for a nap!
When GS's mum picked him up, Barnes reappeared and settled down next to me. so we resumed our 'lazy days'!
GS isn't used to cats - he has a dog. but, he is gentle with Barnes and they do seem to like each other!

I'm beginning to wonder if mum is lonelier than she's letting on. Last night I was moaning about one of my old cats, Blackie, who doesn't like that he's being locked in at night and is pooping around the house because he refuses to use a litter tray unless I get up to let him out should I hear him cry and she said she'd take him. He'd not be locked in at hers and he'd be company for Scrappy.

Mum would never let Dad have a cat because they live close to a busy road (hence why I ended up with Harley ktten last year) and now she's offering to take another one of mine, be it on a temporary basis.

I suspect she is his missus. probably trying to 'keep busy' too. or perhaps she thinks scrappy needs the company. How would scrappy react to a new kitten for company? that would keep mum busy!

I don't believe this! was sleeping nicely when OH is shaking me awake saying 'GS2 is knocking the door'. I fumbled my way downstairs and open the door - to no-one. looked at clock and its 6.15!!!!!!!!!! gawd - OH is getting paranoid too!
not worth going back to bed, but mourning lost 20 minutes sleep, I make a cuppa. turn on tv and catch the weather forecast..........oh lovely - heavy rain! then remember he has to stay home from school with chest infection. Yay .......................oh hang on - this is GS2 - he wears me out in an hour or so, and it is at least 4 and half hours before his mum is going to pick him up.
so Barnes had a VERY early breakfast (he then sat on the stairs waiting for GS2).
who came in his usual time.
    we then
made GS some brekky - does any one know another kid who likes a bowl of rice crispies and milk to be dinged in the microwave? not to mention he had already HAD Weetabix at home?
Have you lot made a 'Pirates Treasure Map' at 6.45am? I made the mistake of promising to help him make one yesterday, as soon as he finished breakfast he held me to the promise.
Barnes came down to 'play' - he got a scant few minutes as one of GSs favourite programmes came on.
Barnes made himself comfortable on a cushion on the settee and settled down. GS2 wanted me to play football with him. (he has a very soft sponge 'football' he is allowed to play with in my house).
Groan -it isn't much past 8.00am!
played footy for a while and poor Barnes took a shot right in the face! not from me - but GS2 collapsed laughing when Barnes shot off settee and ran upstairs. I had to explain that he had frightened Barnes, so off he trots to go say sorry. We didn't see Barnes after that. he decided windowsill naps were safer!
as soon as GS2 left he cautiously came downstairs and checked the place out. satisfied there was no danger he reclaimed his settee pillow!
and I collapsed with exhaustion on other settee! I couldn't even be bothered finding the remote so watched Mr Maker!
  • Barney was fine with cocoa they liked eachother, not fine with miley lilly and cassie though making him stressed.
he used to live with another cat before he came to me and he overly showed his love towards her eventhough he's had the snip!.

Yeah, but cocoa is laid back too! miley is um 'anti-social'? lily and tinks didn't get on with Barnes did they? and cassie the Yorkshire Terror may have been outside Barneys experience..........as cassie is a DOG!
  • he was fine with tinks, he didn't swipe at miley or hiss just walked away and kept his distance from her miley would stare big eyed at him and I think it put him off. lilly didn't like him and the feeling I think was mutual, and he didn't like the dog one bit although she's soft as cotton and just wanted to sniff and lick him there was no way he was having any of that. he would lay on the bed with cocoa or tinks with no issues or even play tag your it at 4 am (and other more acceptable times)in the morning round the house.

He does like a lot of Human attention though Atrix. he loves to be played with, nursed like a baby, have a conversation, and be the centre of attention!

will post a bit more later - for now GD1 wants to check out Lolcats thread.

I was sorting through his food and meds today - and I have a confession to make.............at the beginning of the month I didn't give him all his worming tablets! I have been so used to giving a 'one dose, dual or multi wormer I had totally forgotten that PAH was out of Drontal and I had picked up a dual wormer - gave him one dose and forgot to give him the rest! luckily PAH had the right Drontal today! so he has now been properly wormed!
I also picked up different dinners for him - I think he was getting a bit bored with the ones I had last month. leaving more than he should. he has had one of the new brands/varieties tonight and scoffed the lot! funnily enough it was the 'own brand' Seriously Good. the chicken and liver one - its all gone and plate licked clean and NOTHING left for Ron! its not that cheap though!
I also bought him a laser pen and those crinkly shiny ball things -two for a pound. I thought he might like them as he absolutely loved playing with the wrapping 'bows' at xmas!
I have read about the warnings with laser pens - so wont be using it every day. I also made sure that he had 'treats' when I let him 'catch' the dot. he really enjoyed playing and he played for about 20 minutes - even pingponguppastairs doesn't last more than ten minutes with just me playing with him!
the crinkly shiny balls? oh, he is scared of those! he hides when I throw them! lol.
