my Giz will eat ham and a bit of cheese, but my old Sugar cat used to eat tuna sandwiches (mixed with salad cream!) bread and all!! peanut butter, mini cheddar biscuits, crisps, buttered toast, ice cream, cheese, blueberry muffin to name a few things!
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

my first cat Timmy absolutely loved Sultanas! and they were a fave snack for me - he used to knock the bowl out of my hand and scarf up as many as he could before I could clean it up!
my first dog Anni seemed to prefer people food - anything you ate she would eat too! but, her absolute favourite food was 'cucumber'! I used to use it as training 'treat' for her! and I can also remember DD and her 'sharing' ice creams from the ice cream van. one lick for DD - one lick for Anni..........not very hygienic - but they both survived!

Barnes got a groom and treats first thing this morning courtesy of C!
he still expected his 1.00pm one tho - and I was rather distracted with the grandgirls and ignored his indignant yowls!
Teaching the two oldest girls how to make Sunday Roast Dinner!
lol - the youngest one is just like her dad - not concerned with HOW it gets on the table - just with eating it!
then I took them up Great Grandmas. and I swear that I left the bed in Master bedroom unmade.
got home and Barnes didn't come running downstairs to greet me. I got out his fave supper...........and the smell didn't tempt him down. so asked OH where Barney was . got a shrug and a 'I dunno'!
well, he was comfortable on the bed in Master Bedroom where OH insists he isn't allowed! and I KNOW he didn't have access to when I left the house! and the bed was made in OH style! (messily).

Eric and I shared smoked salmon sandwiches for our tea - perhaps Whiskas or Felix should introduce it as a new flavour !

He gets a small tin of tuna in spring water once a week and a packet of "value" prawns (those tiny ones) once a month. I like chicken kiev and his nibs always licks the plate clean of the garlic butter. I tell him not to come kissing me in bed with smelly breath (he doesn't understand me though !).

Went to visit Scrappy yesterday (he's a good excuse to keep checking up on mum ;) ) He didn't seem overjoyed to see us though he did come to us both a quick stroke. Mum says the dog seems more settled :) As we were leaving Scrappy bolted upstairs as though to say, "I'm not going with you!"

How does Barnes react to Atrix when he comes to visit, Meritaten?

A bit like Scrappy. I think Atrix gets a bit upset that Barnes doesn't 'fuss' him! in fact, Barnes can be a bit 'standoffish'! his manners are still good - but, he isn't very 'cuddly'. and Atrix was used to cuddles from Barnes I think.
Barnes loyalties have transferred to me and OH and THIS HOUSE I think. he still lOVES Atrix and he loves the grandkids - but 'this' is his home now. 'His Kingdom'! it isn't that he loves me more - but, his HOME is here now.

Barnes is losing 'condition'. Atrix and I had a chat today and we think it may be dry food............. he always seems to have a scabby skin. I need to research this and what can be done.
we know he is really allergic to fleas - I think I have eradicated that problem.
(for now - no sign of fleas in last few weeks).
Atrix and I both agree that fish causes him problems - he gets an upset tummy. Barnes WONT eat rabbit! (so Atrix's cats get any Rabbit pouches).
I am due for Barnes food shop on Saturday so will be researching the dry foods ingredients and perhaps changing his treats. Dreamies doesn't exactly give you the ingredients .............just tells you Fibre or Protein. neither do the Webbox treat sticks. The ingredient list on cat foods isn't very informative! Atrix thinks he may be wheat or gluten intolerant. will research that. and see if I can find out exactly what goes into Dreamies and the Webbox sticks.

a nice lazy day today! for Barnes and me! would have slept in but next doors phone rang constantly from 7.45 to 8.15!!!!!!!!! arrrghh - she isn't there! down her sons! the old lady is as deaf as a post and the phone ringer is turned up high! lol and the walls are not exactly soundproof - she has no secrets from me!
and its get up at stupid o clock tomorrow - which Barnes loves as it means he gets Breakfast early and gets 'kid' time.
GS2 treats him with respect but likes to play, and gives Barnes a few 'dreamies'. while I down coffee in an attempt to 'wake up'. I find it difficult to wake up in the winter - in the summer I am 'raring to go' - I just hate dark mornings. though I have to say that some sunrises are worth waking up for - but that's rare this time of year!
so Barnes and me 'chilled out' today. We lounged on settee, cuddled a lot, watched mindless tv programmes, did a little bit of housework, played a bit of pingponguppastairs - exhausted Barney, who then had a six hour nap!
Tell me this - Olympic athletes spend hours a day 'training' - a cat spends 16 to 18 hours sleeping.............and can out perform a human athlete! surely sleeping is the best training an athlete can have? I should sleep more - Nieghbours and grandkids notwithstanding.

now how do I make a boring day interesting for you? I don't think I can! you know that it was GS2 day - so got up, downed black coffee and gave GS his biscuits and a drink, and then took GS to school. came home..........the only thing different was that Barnes was sitting on kitchen windowsill pretending not to be watching for me. usually he goes back to bed when I take GS to school! I think he was watching for me cos he was sat bolt upright and staring through the window until he he saw me, then curled up, and when I came through the door he blinked sleepily and slowly got up and jumped down to come greet me! Great Acting there Barnes! he must think my eyesight is defective! or the window only works one way!

rest of the day was pretty much a repeat then of yesterday! oh I do like 'retirement'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elderly neighbour back home now - the phone got answered this morning! I am used to that - so hopefully I will get a nice lie in tomorrow!

Meritaten, does Barnes miss being around other cats do you think now he's at yours? Mumm said that although Scrappy was going out more, she said she thinks he's lonely being an only cat as the dog obviously won't play those kitty tumble games like Harley does.

Mind you, Harley will be heading to mum's next Friday anyway to stay whilst we're away on holiday.

No I don't think he does his missus. he seems to like being the 'only cat'. Atrix suspected that when Barnes lived with him. Atrix has a few cats, Two gorgeous Ragdolls and a couple (or three) moggies. plus a Yorkshire Terror! and Barney didn't really 'fit in'. and got very aggressive. which is so unlike his normal placid self.
