I love your stories about Barnes but it occurs to me I haven't posted!!
We have a rabbit and half a cat. Or Bunnie is a rescue rabbit and she is lovely full of personality and behaves like a cat in many ways. At the minute she is having a strop because we have substituted some of her dry food for veg, so she has trashed her cage and in case we couldn't understand her feelings about veg she took a dump in her veg bowl!! :-)..... lovely.
Half a cat belongs to a neighbor but she spendsa lot of her time with us (they know and are happy for her to do so). She is very vocal and very good at making us understand what she wants. She isn't a cuddly cat either but lately she had been happier about me picking her up and she loves suiting on our knees. She had been around for a few years now. When we got the rabbit a few months ago she ignored us for days and made a real point of it. She tried to eat the rabbit a few times (never got close enough to do any damage just reading her behavior) she now just looks on in amazement if we are playing with monster. I guess it must be the equivalent of someone having a pet ham burger or something to her!!
Will think of some funny stories.0 -
The only thing my mad moggy is up to currently; is to show his displeasure with I accidentally toe him during the night. Sleeping on sofa, as bedroom is down to around 10 degrees, and the storage heater being on in living room takes that up to around 17. Far too cold to sleep in bed without extra heating. So he has a bed next to storage heater, but if I sleep on the sofa, he wants to sleep with me, down the bottom near my feet.
I move a lot during the night, and apparently when I turn I sometimes toed him (as i have to disentangle my legs from either side to do a flip) I sound nuts! But he started to bite my toes through the duvet if I toe him. It's actually worked though. I must be subconsciously not toeing him during the night any more as I've stopped awakening to him munching on my toes. To be fair to me, it wasn't a toe up the backside, but often just a gentle push through the duvet as they moved. I don't kick him, honest!
The poor thing is a nervous wreak normally. Very obsessed with me, I got him young, 5 weeks or so old, so really attached himself to me, and doesn't do well with company. But today someone finally came to fix the roof in the bathroom (long story!) and he was very troubled by all the sounds, and banging. He'd be sat on top of me for comfort, but with his ears pulled right back, and eyes wide. I dunno why this particularly bothered him. He's ok with the often roadworks outside, and the police car sirens that come all the time (living on an exit road for a police station)
Thankfully in the hours since they packed up for home he's calmed right down, but I wonder if he's like it again tomorrow when they start again.0 -
ah Thanks people - I am reassured that I am 'not alone' on here! and I absolutely love 'cat stories'! or any pet stories really!0

Welcome Dozey Crow! feel free to post at any time!
Barnes had a lovely day today! DIL and Son worked today so we had GS. from 6.30am - OH let me sleep in a bit longer and Barnes stayed with me. but, he played a bit with GS and watched Cbbc and Cbeebies with him for a while.
Then after lunch oldest GD arrived - Barnes was pleased! he has had plenty of kid company today!
a few people have commented on how well Barnes is looking. he is certainly putting on weight and his fur is fluffing up nicely! I cant quite believe how easy it is to keep him 'well groomed'. Takes about five - ten minutes a day! I always had the impression it took hours and involved lots of 'detangling' and brushing and combing! But then, he isn't being groomed for the 'show'. Just to keep him comfortable and matfree.0 -
Keep talking! I might not reply often, but I do tune in daily for my Barnes fix.0

oh sorry people - reading back I hadn't noted his weight for you (and for you Atrix - you commented on how much he had put on since August), well I couldn't get a really accurate reading as the bu99er wouldn't stay still - but he is now between 5 and 6 Kilos! almost doubled his weight! its good to know as his next worming is coming up soon and he needs more than one tab now!
he is eating well, poos are normal (and in the litter trays, Goddess be praised) and he is lively and appears content!0 -
can you remember how to get photo's up of him. be nice to just update people with more picks so they can see the progress made.
get the camera out snap some photo's!0 -
er - no Atrix. hate that photobucket thing! and Barnes does NOT co-operate with camera! as soon as he sees it he 'smiles'! I want his eyes open but he smiles with them shut!
I agree - he looks great and I want people to see that.0 -
Atrix has taken loads of pics of Barney! am in the process of uploading them to photobucket.
er - Atrix, my computer isn't as powerful as yours and cant cope with the amount of pics you wanted to upload AND let me on tinternet too! so I had to cancel after about 31 and two hours uploading!
I will upload more tomorrow.
Atrix came down today and Barnes was in playfull mood! so we played 'ping pong' (Barney is good at this except he lies down and your balls have to go within a few inches of his paw - if it is you get the ball back!).
Then we played 'ping pong uppa stairs'! which involves you throwing the ping pong ball 'uppa' stairs and Barnes chases it and bats it back down - he may or may not chase it down and bat it into dining room!
in which case 'Barnes SCORES'! he also scores if he bats it into kitchen - you get the idea? Barnes SCORES! he WINS! if he doesn't then itsa stoopid game and he stalks off!0
