Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

GS day today - and I woke without help from Barnes and came down in time to have a cuppa and ciggy before GS arrived. (feeling quite smug about that!)
GS had had his breakfast and didn't want anything except CBBC, at gone 5 CBeebies is going out of favour! good - I love Horrible Histories and by the time that comes on at 7.45 I am awake enough to enjoy it!
All went well until I wanted GS to get dressed for school - despite the ten min warning and the 'countdown' he was furious because I told him to come and get dressed and he hit me with both hands - he can pack a punch too! It bluddy hurt! then when I turned to get his clean pants and vest he hit me twice on the butt! That does NOT help my bad back! if we hadn't been pushed for time he would have done 5 minutes on the naughty step! not least for scaring Barnes - who raced off upstairs in a panic! I was glad to dump, sorry, LEAVE him at school! my own kids would NEVER have done that and I was at a bit of loss how to react - I just told him that he should never hit nanny and if he does it again - I don't care if he is late for school - he does the naughty step (which he absolutely hates).
Barnes has been extra nice to me all day! hardly gone upstairs, and seems determined to 'comfort' me! bit annoying really - I cant move for him and had to give up on my crochet as he decided to get 'playful' with the yarn - which he has never done before! so we got the string I made on kumihimo disc and attached a cushion tassel too and he really played with it! (he has ignored it for months!) I feel he was 'humouring' me!
right, its his suppertime now so maybe I will post later!0 -
No1 son came up earlier and brought his dog - who he attempted to keep in the porch but she wasn't haven't that! she wanted to come see me! I acted as her 'midwife' when she gave birth to her only litter and since then she seems to view me as a 'special human'! lol
she didn't even notice Barney! who regarded her with deep suspicion! but kept quiet and just watched her! of course I fussed over Stelly and Barnes did NOT look happy! I do hope he forgives me soon!0 -
Barnes is currently on the back of the sofa watching 'space buddies' with the grandgirls - probably thinking its confirmation that 'dogs are dumb'! wouldn't catch Barnes accidentally leaving earth!
he was pleased to see them and Atrix!
We have had a very quiet day though before that! apart from OHs nephew who called in - and became a Barney fan. I don't think he knew I had a cat as when he spotted Barney he went 'Whooaarr! what a gorgeous cat - what is it'? of course Barnes went into 'greet the visitor' mode, and was at his most charming!
I think nephew would have took Barney home with him! he was captivated! I got loads of questions about breed, why his face was so 'squished', his colour, his temperament - it was like 'Mastermind'! and through it all Barney just smiled, wound round nephews legs, sat looking adoring up at him (that's fake btw - its just the arrangement of his face!) and gained Persians a 'devotee'. rofl 'Forgive me for I have sinned - I said ALL Persians are like Barney'!0 -
So, grandgirls had a sleepover and Barnes loved it!
they decided to shut the door on him overnight though and he slept with me. in the spare room - which I had forgotten to put away the ornaments on windowsill............so Barnes cleared them off to make room for him! lol. luckily they 'bounced' and didn't break!
He had GS there for his groom and treats and three grandgirls! I had to dole out the treats to each of them......but he had a great time! let each of them 'groom' him and give him treats - but I was a bit surprised that it was GS who wanted to feed him his final 'treat stick' and broke it into little bitty bits to 'prolong' the experience! GS really seems to love Barney and is very very gentle with him. GS has a dog of his own, but is a bit nervous around strange dogs - he seems to prefer my Barney!
lol - they found the kumihimo rope with tassel and played with Barney with it - who really got into it and....totally DESTROYED the tassel! YEP, there were silk threads everywhere!0 -
for some reason he is a bit 'scabby' again. and I see no signs of fleas and his claws look ok............?????????? any ideas anyone?
I just found him sitting on the worktop looking longingly at the Pyrex dish in which I cooked OHs supper..........chicken curry. now, he is very good at not sitting on worktop usually - the other worktop is usually just used to enable him to get on kitchen windowsill to people watch. He hadn't licked the dish or anything - just gazed at it, looked at me - looked back at dish, licked his chops, looked at dish and back at me! that's plain enough isn't it? lol
Nooooo - he is NOT having chicken curry! he has a 'delicate tummy' I am not risking that! no matter if he DOES fancy it.0 -
lol - was making OHs supper and got out a pack of microwave rice (so I was feeling lazy tonight! its still rice innit?) and next thing Barney was skidding into the kitchen! I think its because the rice packet sounds like his 'Dreamies' packet? and the excitement was because he doesn't normally have 'treats' at night? I felt so bad for him I gave him a few 'Dreamies'. Would have been 'mean' not to wouldn't it?
me and OH bought a new Christmas tree today. we don't have 'real' trees now but the one we have had for the last couple of years is a real PITA! prelit - Hah! just means the lights get tangled round the branches! oops (you didn't see that Atrix - as you are the next proud owner of a beautiful prelit tree!).
Barnes was most interested! hope he doesn't go in for tree climbing! or 'tree diving' or decides to 'redecorate' every night!
silly me - worked out that his 'scabby areas' are all on the front end - there fore I suspect that even though his back claws look okay - they need clipping. will do that tomorrow!0 -
oh dear - It SHOULD have been GS day today - but DILs shifts mucked about again! Barnes was concerned I had overslept and patted and nudged me awake just before 7.00am. and wouldn't take 'He isn't coming today' for an answer! so got up and gave Barnes brekky and went back to bed ...................where I couldn't get back off to sleep so had to get up!
was out most of the day but came back briefly at lunchtime (groom and treats time) with Atrix. gave Atrix his treats (Barneys I mean) who gave them to Barnes! Happy Cat!
Groomed him tonight and tbh, I am a bit concerned about an area on his throat just under his chin............it MAY be a large scab or it may be something else. I don't want to 'dislodge it' but I will be looking very closely at it tomorrow and if still worried will pop him up the vets.0 -
Its definitely just a scab! and disintegrating too. panic over!
c'mon people - I am talking to myself again and it unnerves me! INPUT please - what has your pet done to make you laugh or an 'AWWWWW moment'?
OH hasn't witnessed Barneys 'mad five minutes' before! Barnes does this when in a playful mood - but OH stared with his mouth open when Barney whizzed into the living room - took a flying leap onto the sofa back, bounced off and whizzed back out of dining room, up the stairs jumped on bedroom windowsill, jumped off again and zoomed downstairs - all the while making these mad 'yowly, growly noises!!!!!!!!!!! this is just his way of telling me he wants to 'play'!
He must be feeling more confident of OH now - as usually its just when Barnes and I are alone he does this.
so we had a nice game with the 'fish onna line' and with ping pong uppa stairs!0 -
my Giz isn't a lap cat or a cuddles cat, but in the mornings he will roll onto his back showing his flufty tummy for a snorfle and and stroke.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

lol - Barney is becoming a 'cuddlecat'! he tolerates longer and more frequent 'cuddles'!
but touch his tummy and ................you get the 'stare'!0
