I am ruddy cream crackered! had my two grandchildren from lunchtime yesterday until I got up my mums at about 3.30pm today, and had the bonfire party to cook for! They are the two with Aspergers btw and are quite challenging!

Barnes loves them though! both are quite nervous around cats as usually they get 'scrammed' (a valleys word for 'scratched'), and/or hissed at! So they treat him with great respect (which he thinks is his due), while at the same time enjoying being able to stroke him and play with him.
I have said last night we played 'hide and seek', later on when we went to bed I asked GD if she wanted to shut the door, and Barney out. she elected to leave the door open a bit. of course Barney joined us - GD1 had the unique experience then of having a cat sleeping on her tummy! she was fine until he started purring loudly - the vibration made her laugh so he got offended, jumped up onto windowsill, skidded a bit on the upvc and knocked two china ornaments off - smashing them to bits! GD1 was a bit upset but I wasn't too bothered as my 'good' china is all kept safe! I was just worried that shards may still be in the carpet and warned her not to get out of bed until she had her slippers on! I woke up this morning to Barnes sleeping just above my head, came down for tea and ciggy! Barney stayed in bed with GD1.
GD1 came down and said Barney had woken her by 'kneading' her arm with his paws! Oh and Barnes didn't come down til he heard 'breakfast' hitting his bowl!
Barnes didn't get his usual amount of kip this morning - he spent most of it either playing with grandkids or watching them intently!
he is beginning to realise that once we leave after lunch that is 'bye-bye' to the grandkids. so he is catching up on his sleep now!
  • Hows flea wars going?

What is it with fleas this year? I've just noticed flea dirt on visiting cat (easy to see he has a white collar) will have to check tomorrow when I last did my cat, hope he is up to date. Not sure if I need to spray the house again or not? I really would have thought its too cold for fleas now.

me and grandkids groomed Barney and every inch of him was 'groomed'. and he had loads more 'treats' than usual! so he enjoyed it! couldn't see any fleas or flea dirt. so assume the one I saw was a 'visitor'!
The advocat hasn't arrived yet (bluddy royal mail is carp here), but will deflea and deworm as soon as it does!

I am now giving my OH a one minute warning when his supper is ready - so he can get Barnes off his lap!
and tonight I heard OH babytalking to Barnes again - honestly, OH is getting shameless!

I have to give my OH a 10 minute warning - so that he can get the dog off his lap and go to the loo, and the OH isn't even in his 50's yet :)
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

how has today been? ok - I thought I spotted a flea on Barney but it was a bit of 'dirt' from his muzzle (we have the devil of a job keeping his face clean - he doesnt wash it himself)! and the 'dry' food sticks to it, as he likes to drink a bit, eat a bit, drink a bit - by the time he finishes, he has what looks like a 'handlebar moustache' each side of his mouth!

he has taken an interest in my 'knitting' for some reason! he used to ignore me when I was knitting, but, for the last few days whenever I have picked it up he comes and watches me intently! Sorry Barnes, but I don't think you could knit! or perhaps he would like a jumper? or the colours of the yarn I am using are interesting to him? whatever, he is fascinated.

I have only just noticed that sometimes he watches tv...........adverts featuring dogs and cats or balls bouncing around seem to get his attention - previously I thought he was just watching over the grandkids - but today I went out of the room and came back in un-noticed by Barnes and he was definitely watching the TV! so this afternoon noted when Barnes looked at TV - as I said these ads definitely caught his attention!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Harley, my kitten loves watching Hubby playing his PS3 footy game. He will even sit in front of the TV and try to bat the ball. Also any cat or dog noises grab all of their attention especially the "miaowing sound" one of my online questionaire co. plays to check the sound. Mind you, that miaow does sound like one angry cat!

First Cat Timmy used to like Snooker! he would happily watch it for ages!
Barnes will be expecting DG2 tomorrow - but, I have swapped days with his other grandparent. so don't have to wake up at stupid o clock.
I will tell him - just hope he understands and doesn't wake me!

Dam! just realised its mucked up my plans for tomorrow! I was going to go into town from his school - as I am dressed and out anyway - oh well, cant be helped. now, can I be arrrrrsed to get up and get dressed and go out?????????depends on the weather! and how my back feels.
  • Gizmo likes watching TV but only in bed. Hubby sometimes puts the TV on in bed if he can't sleep but I can and I usually put it on when I'm the only one in for background noise. He lays at my feet and watches the TV intently.

Grandgirls came down today after school - but, they had 'homework' to do, so Barnes was largely ignored after they made a huge fuss of him when they came in.
May be why Barney was amenable to extra 'cuddles' this evening when we came home from dropping them off at their home! oh boy, he was really 'cuddling in' to me!

I still get 'cat massage' if I lie on sofa - sometimes I forget that Barnes thinks it a 'request for a massage' and just stretch out to rest my back??????? next thing I know I have an increasingly heavy Persian landing on my tummy!
reminds me - I must weigh him tomorrow (without the palaver of last time hopefully) and do his flea and deworm!

you know, I am sure that when spot ons first came out - it was every three months???????? I could be wrong - my memory is not reliable!
I have had to clear the windowsills - OH complained that Barnes skidding along them and knocking ornaments off is waking him up!
I think Barney enjoys looking out at the local 'nightlife'. I know we have foxes around and many local cats roam at night. There are also Owls and Bats. and Humans of course!
