The only other cat who I knew liked 'cradling' was an old ginger tom belonging to my neighbours when I was a child. Old 'Ginge' was MR Bs cat. and a right old sod! but when MR B died he was a like a lost soul - and one day (much to MRS Bs horror) I picked him up and cradled him....and became his new best friend! but no-one else could do it though. I was devastated when Ginge died - and the awful death he had sticks in my mind to this day (and could explain my weakness for ginger cats).

It was this family that taught me about cats - Ginge and Kimmy were the resident cats but MRS B was forever taking in strays and finding them homes.

my mum HATES cats - I couldn't have one so my neighbours cats were my adopted pets - luckily neighbours daughter was my best friend and quite happy to share the assorted cats and kittens and teach me 'cat care'.

Me and Barnes had a lovely cuddle today - after his groom and treats he sat there looking all sad, so I scooped him up and we cuddled............awww, he patted my face, he purred, he stretched and cuddled back down - then licked the bit of my chest he could reach, he closed his eyes and purred and purred..........why do I now feel guilty I denied him all this pleasure because I thought he didn't like being 'picked up'?
lol - he is a 'soppy' cat. but, I wonder how he would react to OH 'cuddling' him - as he seems ok with lapsitting with OH?

Barnes had a lovely time playing with a necklace I had left on dining room table........he batted it round, knocked it off the table, picked it up and put it back on table to bat it round again.........not aware that I was watching him. he got so 'taken' with the necklace he picked it up and made off upstairs with it!!!!!!!!! I have no idea where he has hidden it! lol. I don't mind, its only a cheap bit of costume jewellery.
a bit of 'magpie' in his ancestry?
everyone here seems to have seen the weather forecast for tomorrow - which indicates rain will put a damper on the fireworks - so are having their parties tonight. Barnes seems totally unfazed. he is fast asleep on my side of the sofa.
I note that he is due for deflea and deworm next thurs - will put my order in for his 'meds' tomorrow. to make sure it arrives in time. Post is not reliable here - some things can take ages to arrive! will endeavour not to blow up their server this time!

made sure Barnes had his cuddle time today. the look of bliss on his face - takes me back to when my three were babies, I could (and did) cuddle them all day!

Well Barnes WAS on my side of the sofa..........but OH has had his supper is now settled down for his TV, so Barnes is on sofa back behind OH with his tail lovingly hanging down and resting on OHs shoulder. AAAWWWWWW!

My kitten seemed a bit panicky about the fireworks going off on Saturday but seemed fairly unfazed by it all last night. Perhaps they know they're safe inside.

Both of ours aren't bothered by the fire works either.

Your comment about Barnes making off with your necklace made me giggle. Gizmo is rather "taken" with my make up brushes, he makes off with them when ever I have them out and I'm not paying complete attention. I still haven't found the eye shadow brush he made off with beginning of October. I'm guessing it must be under the bed in between the suitcases and christmas tree... unfortunately I'm a little too big to fit under there and can't lift the bed and remove the tree at the same time but will no doubt find it when we get the tree out at the end of this month.

Salem also has a habit of bringing my pyjama's down stairs when I'm not in the house, it is handy sometimes as it means I can put the straight on when I get in.

Well, Barnes brought the necklace back down from wherever he had stashed it - to play with on the table again! I think he likes the noise it makes!

Weather is fine so lots of fireworks going off - and he doesn't seem to even notice them! he has had his supper (which seems to get asked for earlier and earlier, which I am taking as a good sign his appetite is returning) and is now curled up on the sofa.

Barnes is so affectionate - I have never known this level of affection from a cat - only from the dogs, and not even as much as this - the dogs seemed to accept me being 'in and out'. Barney cannot bear not knowing where I am and when he is awake I am not supposed to go out of his reach! I get followed everywhere! if I do go out, I get home and Barney is on kitchen windowsill watching for me! Even OH has remarked that Barney is very attached to me. he can be curled up asleep and then wake and come up to me and 'inhale' me and then rub his face against me, then go back and curl up and sleep again! I have to 'sneak' out for a ciggy - if Barnes hears the front door opening cos I have gone for a fag, he comes and yowls by it!
lol - I am flattered by it - but I can see that some people may not like that level of devotion. the site I read about Persian Flat Faced did say they were dog-like in their devotion to one owner. I think I can vouch for the truth of that!

minding GS day today and it was his first day back at school after half term hols. Barnes was up and ready for him at stupid o clock! demanding some breakfast first though! jeez - I am hardly awake til Ive had my cuppa and ciggy! at least Barney now has his internal clock set to right time! he has been waking me an hour too early!

GS was a bit tired though so they sat and watched 'Oribble Istories'! I did too as it cracks me up! Why isn't this on mainstream tv? its too good for just kids!

Grandgirls came down after school and were messing about chasing each other - unfortunately Barney thought they were chasing him and headed into the living room at the speed of light! I made them stop and apologise to him.......rofl......He wasn't having none of it! he very pointedly turned away from them and ignored them from then on! OH Dear!

I think he was quite happy to see them go home and only then asked for his supper!

I think he's found his forever home. He likes the kids visiting! But then loves his solo time with you and your OH :D

Hows fleagate going? Any closer to eradicating them completely?

The fleas seem to have sent in an advance party! found one on him during groom & treats today. he isn't due for defleaing until next Thursday, but I will do it on weekend.

I am in two minds - whether to spray the house again or not! I still occasionally come down to dead insect bodies. so think the Staykill must be working - but if it is, how come Barnes keeps getting fleas? where do they come from - he hasn't been outside in over a month now! (too wet for one thing).
is it just fleas are now getting impervious to all 'Flea Sprays'? they have survived for centuries - are they becoming like cockroaches and 'indestructible'?

So, its still War on Fleas!
