Barnes 'disappeared' for most of today! joined the kids briefly when Grandson came up for a few hours - then 'hid' again!
So, I haven't seen much of him today. didn't even have time to do 'groom and treats' - though I suspect OH did that while I took grandkids up Grans - his treats and combs etc were not where I left them!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea whether Barnes likes or dislikes bad weather - will soon find out!0 -
I rather think Barnes was glad of the peace and quiet after the grandkids left at midday! I know I was! as much as I love them - a whole weekend of grandkids is more than sufficient! lol. give me a day or two and I will be missing them............and so will Barney! anyways, Barnes almost sat on my lap! his front half! and I spotted a flea! and I couldn't find the dam thing during the groom and treats. poor Barnes got 'flea combed' for ten minutes and it still didn't make an appearance!
Food
I went out week before last and got a months supply of 'gourmet' cat dinners from PAH - who had offers on Sheba and Gourmet Perle and Sheba pouches. along with a huge sack of PAH dry food (which should last him at least three months for £5.99) it cost me £23. broken down that means the 'Posh Grub' cost me £17 which comes in at less than £5 a week. and so far he has enjoyed them all - I picked up a variety of the tins and pouches. and so far no tummy wobbles!
(OH came along and surprisingly, made some suggestions on Barnes 'likes and dislikes' - he seems to know Barnes intolerances and 'faves' as well as I do.............?)
he has been 'requesting' his 'supper' earlier - he now 'asks' for it as early as 6.00pm, where he was usually ready for it about 7.00. and he is leaving less of it for 'ron'!
a good sign I think!
still don't know how Barnes copes with storms - we didn't have one!
next challenge is Halloween - all those people coming to the door and they don't get invited in! how IS Barnes gonna cope?0 -
Is barnes wanting to eat earlier because of the clocks going back? My liitle darlings never grasp daylight saving time. Roll on March when the clocks go forward and the little darlings let me have a lie in.0
-
hmmm - thinking back on this hismissus, I am pretty sure that he had been asking for his food earlier and earlier for the last couple of weeks - of course the clock going back hasn't helped as he just thinks I am being a bad mummy now! He wanted his food at 5.45 and I was busy prepping OHs supper so said 'Barnes 'in a minute'! he then trots off into living room and complains VERY loudly to OH!0

arrrgghhh - he HAS got fleas yet again! I got OH to hold him while I went nose to tail with a flea comb and still didn't get the Bu99ers - Barnes has gone to hide now - he did NOT like the thorough combing! Still - I now know he has NO matts! and his scabs are healing ...............but I saw two fleas and they were lively! I just couldn't catch them! so bluddy frustrated! Barnes was coming along lovely - but if I cant kill those fleas he is going to go back downhill again! SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!0

perhaps talk to your vet about Capstar tablets? they work within 1/2 hr, so i've read. And can be given more frequently.
i've no experience of them myself though.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -

our vets do bioactivation treatment. look into it.0 -
I use johnson flea tablets, they usually work within an hour and do kill all fleas. It has no lasting effect though. I use it on mine the day before I do a spot on. 2 of mine have fleas again but aren't due a spot on for another 2 weeks! I'm going to try Advantage next time as a few people have recommended it on here.
I'd re-treat your house and any bedding Barnes sleeps on too.
It's no consolation but it seems lots of people are struggling in the battle against fleas this year.0 -

One other option would be a Program 6 month injection.
But meanwhile I would be giving him the odd Capstar tablet to kill those adult fleas.

Interestingly they also sell the oral form of Program without a prescription
