I would spray the house again, it wont do any harm. I would also try another product I use Indorex but I don't suppose it matters which one as long as you try something else just in case the one you used isn't working.
I think it more likely that the ineffective product is on the cat. What do you use? Is it one that should last 4 weeks?
You need to make sure that all the eggs have hatched they then jump onto the treated cat and get killed. To make the eggs hatch you need movement, for example they will hatch when the cat walks past. You can make this happen quicker by hoovering twice a day until they have gone.
Good luck!0 -
Seemingly still struggling with my Lily and fleas as well meritaten! I can't find any on her after extensive checking but she's still getting the irritated/scabby skin so they must still be biting her!
What spray are you using for the house? I think I need to get something different.:heart2:0 -
hi melly - I used StayKill this time - but it didn't seem as effective as the Acclaim I used when I had sons other cat staying here! It IS working in that any insect which wanders in is dead by morning (judging by the bodies)!
I have looked Barnes over very carefully and haven't found another flea or any signs of flea dirt. his scabs are healing up and dropping off and his fur is really thickening up. I am hoping the Advocat I have ordered will arrive tomorrow - and I think it will be ok to treat him a few days early!0 -
I just thought of something my friend told me. She had a cat and tried everything but couldn't get rid of them. She took the cat to the vets and he said they were rabbit fleas! The treatment she was using did not work on rabbit fleas maybe its worth checking? Do you have a rabbit near you? I know advantage treats cats as well as rabbits but not sure on the others.0

no - no rabbits as far as I am aware! tho I am semi rural wild rabbits do not roam the streets! tho I cant say if neighbours have rabbits - if they do they are well hidden!
I have seen the occasional fox though. but Barnes is a housecat! always has been. and for the last month he has NOT been outside!0 -
I am now giving my OH a one minute warning when his supper is ready - so he can get Barnes off his lap!
and tonight I heard OH babytalking to Barnes again - honestly, OH is getting shameless!0 -

Thank you shorelines - I honestly cannot believe the view stats for this thread - everyone has fallen for Barney! not surprised about that of course, as he IS the most beautiful, fantastic, sweet and funny cat in the world - to ME! I appreciate everyone elses cat is just as precious, lol.
Barnes is having a wonderful time today - GS1 and GD1 are here - so he gets properly worshipped! and he likes to join in games - we played hide and seek earlier and although Barnes accompanied the 'seeker' he wasn't very good at finding people!0 -

Hi meritaten,
Fingers crossed I've seen no fleas all week. I gave them all a flea tablet last Sunday, sprayed the house etc. but I didn't put spot on on them as they aren't due one yet. I'm beginning to wonder whether the spot on is attracting the beggars or whether "flea season" is ending (if there is a flea season) Mind you, with the cold weather, my cats aren't venturing out for long.
The bullying tomcat has reappeared so poor Scrappy is back on his chill pills as he's started over grooming again. I'd send him back to "grandma's" but dad's not well and Scrappy would be an added burden.
Do I assume you're keeping Barnes now that he and your Hubby are inseperable?0
