None of these "goings-on" are stressing him, though? That's got to be a good thing.0

Well if they are, Arbroath lass - he is showing it tonight by 'lap sitting' on my OH, looking purrfectly happy enjoying strokes! which is what I came back on here to post about! I don't believe it! he prefers to sit on OHs lap! OH who shouts at him - who doesn't feed him - or clean his litter tray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! grrrrr - or rather, ROFLMAO - typical cat! Both me and Atrix (his former owner) say 'Barney doesn't do lapsitting'! and this is the second time I have caught Barnes on OHs lap.0
-
he didn't particularly 'like' having his paws washed - but didn't make a big fuss. just glad it wasn't gloss paint - that is a nightmare to get off pets (my springer loved to get covered in it - we didn't have one doorway that didn't contain black springer hair!)0

ohhhhh, it was 'silly o clock' start again this morning - and I really am still feeling 'ropey'. Barney discovered that the hallway had been 'Taped' and I had the devils own job stopping him pulling it all up! Between watching Barnes and dealing with GS (who was in a moody this morning) I just wanted to go back to bed! had a terrible night last night - my chest felt it was on fire and I woke up every half hour or so with a coughing fit. Barnes hasn't slept with me for a couple of nights - preferring to spend the night on sofa in lounge - I must get on his nerves!
ROFLMAO - Barnes decides to jump into dining room through kitchen 'hatch' and lands smack in the lid of the tin of paint - panics, and runs through into living room and round the room and over both sofas before I could catch him! sigh - after dealing with painty paws I then had to spend an hour dealing with painty paw prints on wool carpet, leather sofa and on one wall! good thing it was emulsion!
I have come to the conclusion that I don't have a 'chesty cold' - this happened the last time OH redecorated - it must be the paint affecting my chest!
eventhough low odor and is water based, whilst it dries and some evaporates you end up breathing it in anyway.0 -
My dad declared he didn't like animals, but tolerated them in the house because of my mum wanting lots, and it was good for us as kids. Didn't matter what pet we had, they all made a beeline for him when they could. Cats, dogs, even a giant rabbit we were given to rescue. I do have to say the rabbit really was his "fave" though he'd deny it.
The very last dog my parents had was so obviously his, adored my dad, and my dad would adore her back, whilst still being stand offish about pets in general. I think he missed them for a year or two during his bone marrow transplant/treatment/recovery etc, and they now have a rescued moggy who adores him again, and vice versa, though he'd still never admit it!
They know, Pets just know!0 -
lmao - I wanted to make sure Barnes ate a good meal after his worming tabs - which I hid in bits of his 'Treat Sticks', so I 'dinged' his supper for a few seconds to 'warm it up and release the aromas'. OH thought this was OTT! DIL thought it funny too!
What's funny about it? Barnes likes his food at more than room temp! and if it tempts him to eat I don't mind doing it!
OH suggested I light some candles in the Victorian Lustres for Barnes while I am at it, but that IS OTT! rofl!
Decided it was time to give Benji a worming tablet. Normally, I wait until he is ready for a bowl of food and then add a finely crushed tablet to his food - this does not always work. Now Benji is addicted to Lidl's beef flavoured dog chews. Treat time is when I get in from work, around 4pm. He gets up after a hard day's sleep, has a cuddle and then jumps on the coffee table for his chew (yes, I know, spolit rotten). Anway, I cut the worming tablet in half and broke the chew up and stuffed the 2 bits in the chew. Result, he ate all of his chew and tablet.
Thank you so much for this idea.0 -
you are welcome dollywops! if anyone can take any help off this thread - then its been worth it posting every evening!
I thought I spotted a flea on Barnes earlier today but careful examination when grooming him didn't show any signs of one. Perhaps it was just a speck of dirt? bluddy hope so, but I swear it moved like a flea!
Barnes is currently ensconced on back of sofa, with his human Sibling K stretched out under a crochet blanket watching 'Puss in Boots'. his human cousin E is on the other sofa under her blanket and both are scoffing popcorn. Its now 'Quiet time' - so peace reigns!0 -
If he has fleas, then there will be visible flea dirt. To test if it is fled dirt (flea droppings) put on a piece of damp white tissue paper, if the tissue turns red its flea dirt (the red will be the blood in the droppings) if not then its just 'normal dirt'. Apologises if you already know about this trick but it might help someone reading this.0

I couldn't see any flea dirt - but, I am almost sure it was a flea! I know I am paranoid, but, I hope it was a 'stray'! Barnes is scratching a lot though - so I am on a flea hunt now!
I swear that fleas are waiting outside the door and when I open it - they hop in! FGS - Barnes rarely goes outside and no animals come inside! where are the bu99ers coming from?0 -
