    Poo Wars Meritaten 8 - Barney 0

Flea wars - Am definitely on the verge of victory! careful grooming of Barnes revealed no fleas and very, very little flea dirt! (fingers, toes, legs etc all crossed I haven't spoken too soon!)

Barney is right now 'squeeking' to OH! he is so funny (Barnes NOT OH!) he has this funny squeak when he fancies a bit of conversation............attention seeking is a really loud YOWL!
Gone in to investigate and Barnes is kneading the cushion next to OH in preparation for a nice kip.
OH didn't see me when he came in earlier - and I heard him 'babytalking' to Barney....................roflmao
    on the lines of

    Poo War - Meri 9 - Barney 0

Flea War - Meri appears to be winning!

I just noticed that there are over 13,000 views on this thread!!!!!!!!!! I am Gobsmacked! I don't normally notice such things, but for some reason did today. and only a few of you post!

Barnes had a surprise visit from GS today - pleased him no end!

I quite fancied a 'cat massage' so stretched out on sofa about 'groom and treat' time, sure enough, Barnes came down and sauntered into dining room, spotted me on sofa...........then at full gallop he ran toward me and launched himself into the air - to land smack on tummy! he started my massage and we were both 'getting into it' and the bluddy phone rang! Barnes jumped off of course and I answered it - I wont tell you what I said to the unfortunate person who very kindly offered to sort out my PPI claims! it makes even me blush!

I tell you, I think not only has Barney got an improved life, but I think both you, and your OH, has too! Think it's worked both ways. He's slowly weedling his way into your OH's life, and whilst he might proclaim to not like, or want to do anything with Barney, he's not hiding it well :D:D

Some cats are just sneaky. Keep up with sabotage in the bath, eventually he might grow out, but as has been said it is the best place for an "oops" outside the litter box, so easy to fully clean and bleach etc.

*Also I don't mean he had a horrible life with your son, just sometimes cats/pets need new homes when change happens. My old cat went and lived with my mum when I moved, as a life indoors for him would have been terribly unfair on a ex feral used to wandering around outside. He lived very happily for 6 months or so (old old cat) and loved it there, eventually dying in a warm field edge grassy spot; his idea of heaven.

I think a lot of people don't always realise that what was a suitable home, may easily become an unsuitable home for pets, and this is why re-homing can be good.

Keep on with the tales! Don't worry if most readers don't post, if they're like me, they're loving the updates and antics!!

    Still reading !!! :D

My OH routinely grumbles about his cat .......and sometimes threatens to get her rehomed ....but if you see him with her when he thinks no-one is looking - it's hard to tell which is the bigger pu ssycat .........when she took fright and vanished after he was burgled he was distraught -walked miles looking for her ...asking people to look out for her, putting up posters-the works.............. and then when she came back and I woke him at 6am to tell him ....he grunted , rolled over and went back to sleep .....Men !!

It made me laugh too - OH thought I had gone out as the front door was locked and key taken out - but, I needed a bath and always lock the doors then. OH was early coming home! Bathroom is directly above the front hallway and I can hear a pin drop, never mind ordinary conversation!

Barney had a lovely visit yesterday evening with his human siblings! He got extra treats as they love to feed him (and he needs to put on weight), and best of all he got to sleep on the pillow right above K! He has (very reluctantly) stopped doing that with me now, cos as soon as he gets comfy, I wake up, pick him up and plop him down on his pillow at my feet! he was quite happy to perch on the sofa back above them to watch their DVD during 'quiet time' before bed too. right now he is on the bedroom windowsill watching the birds fly past. the sun will be coming through it and he thinks its the purrfect place for a nice nap!

Woken up at 5.45am by the boobytrap going off! had to get up to 'reset' it - and Barnes had already done a poo in litter tray! What WAS he playing at? I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence. I had difficulty going back off to sleep then!
Oh the bath was clean - my refined method dumps the plastic toys in the bath (noise is deafening) as soon as the curtain is disturbed!

We had a lovely groom and treat session - Barnes is slowly allowing me more 'liberties' and didn't complain when his tummy was combed!!!!! no fleas and I picked up hardly any flea dirt - just a speck or two!

I must remember to order Flea powder or whatever I think might work - I think spot ons cause his skin allergy so they are out! Need more worming tablets for next month and Tape wormer for next week...............so must do that ASAP!
His fur is growing back nicely and he is a bit livelier, and seems content.
I now have Two Ampoules of Spot On (Frontline) which I have no intention of using! If Atrix doesn't want them do you all think a local Cat Rescue could use them? I mean its £10 worth isn't it? shame to just throw them away. I would throw in some tins of food too and some treats! Plus there are some Cat Toys Barnes doesn't play with - he prefers his ping pong balls, the fish on elastic and a stick and his catnip mouse/hedgehog.

A Local cat/animal rescue centre would usually take anything, regarding the frontline, as long as it's in date, and is intact they should take them, but I'd suggest taking it to a non-national one, ie not the RSPCA centres, but you'll probably find local ones who don't have national sponsorship, and would very much need things like extra food, toys etc.

Our local one runs things like an amazon list for people to buy and donate things via, but gratefully take in anything they can use, blankets, food, flea medications etc.

I am pretty sure Atrix wont want it. So will look up the smallest, worst funded 'cat rescue' near me. The only trouble is, I will have to send OH or Atrix or I will be coming home with at least one new cat! On second thoughts - that's a good reason for not asking Atrix! he is worse than me!

No flea dirt today! he also seems resigned to having his tummy combed too - which to be fair, he manages to keep quite mat free!

I am always amazed when I watch him groom himself how 'flexible' he is! quite the contortionist! just wish he would 'wash his face' himself - he is the only cat I have had that doesn't do this! I wonder why? I do it for him during grooming but as I only use plain water it isn't doing much for the stains from the dry food around his mouth - any tips anyone? he likes to eat a bit, drink a bit, eat a bit - he reminds me of my old aunt who had to have a sip of water after every mouthful! lol
