Before you try leaving water in the bottom, I would try other options first. I have heard cats don't like jumping onto tin foil as they hate the noise but never tested this myself. If you use water he will get his paws wet and then have to use the litter tray meaning the grit will stick to his paws easier, you don't want to put him off using the trays completely and he will traipse litter over your floor with wet paws. I am sure water in the bath will work but maybe only as a last resort.0

got the booby trap down to fine art now I think (although Barney is obviously plotting, he spends a lot of time on bathroom mat now).
Barnes got up early this morning to greet GS (his sixth birthday today) and had an early breakfast - which wore him out so he went back to bed! and even GS cajoling him couldn't get him up!
roflmao - I was rather tired after lunch so stretched out on sofa and Barnes treated me to 'Cat Massage'! not only did I get the full 'front paws' treatment, his back paws gave a massage too! he purred like crazy! I think he enjoyed it more than I did!0 -
Just a thought, somebody else posted on another thread, and I've noticed it too with our new cat. If you feed your cat some of the high-protein better quality foods, you get less poo.

Luckily my cat goes outside most of the time. But your post did remind me of the time I saw a cat food on sale that claimed to produce 'low odour poo' :rotfl:. Don't know if the idea took off or not, it was quite a while ago.0 -
New cat still isn't allowed out so we're seeing whatever he's producing and TBH it doesn't whiff too much either. Nothing like as bad as our previous cat who was often quite squitty and you certainly knew when he'd been using his tray as he did more when he got older.Make £2025 in 2025

Barnes normally poos just once a day - and tbh its not that whiffy now! I stick to his dry food he has always had and feed either Sheba trays or Applaws Chicken.

Though he did try to jump in the bath earlier and set off the 'booby trap'! which had me running upstairs, and him dashing down in a panic!0 -
Just a quick post tonight - busy elsewhere!

Barnes woke me up this morning by pulling my hair! looked at clock as it was still dark and it was 6.30! jeez - then realised it was Friday! minding GS day! and he arrives at 6.45! just time to make a cuppa and have a ciggy!
But, has Barney got a calendar in his head? I mind GS on Wed and Fri usually!
Clever Cat!0 -

Barnes is really fed up with me today! I am sooooooo boring! on that dam computer all day only breaking off to feed people/cat!
Sorry folks - I am on a roll with Family History ! I gotta share..........I had the good fortune to find a member of the family who came from the 'aristocracy'! I cannot believe how well documented all the BMDs are! (that's Births Marriages and Deaths if you don't know). with one branch I have now gone back to 980! that's right - I didn't miss off the 1 in front!
its so much fun I cant stop! and teasing OH cos now I know where his love of Norman Castles comes from - years of DNA memory of living in one!
and one branch leads to another just as illustrious! and well documented..............so many leads so little time!
I found another live flea on Barnes today - and it didn't even seem sick! I couldn't catch it - so will def pick up another brand of flea killer (when I had first dog we always used Johnsons - which worked brilliantly and was cheap), as my local shop stocks it I will see what they have tomorrow) and some worming tabs as to me 'fleas and worms' go together! I know you wormed him Atrix and I gave him the last dose - but, I think he needs it!0 -

your cat now so you do as you think best for him.
could he be allergic to the spot on treatments furr loss and increase itching in the area around where the spot is applied do you think?0 -
I am not sure about allergic to spot on - def allergic to flea bites though as you know!
I don't think the worming treatment has 'worked' either - he is eating like a navvy and though putting on some weight ..............I still think he looks 'scrawny'. I will try worming him again and using Johnsons flea stuff, and if I think he isn't improving - he is off to the vets!
though he seems fine in himself...............bit livelier than when he first came here!!!!
and would you believe I went into local shop today fully intending to get the flea stuff and worming tabs.............and your girls got me so distracted I came out with sweets - and no cat stuff! argggh - will get them tomorrow!0
