  • Just a thought have you tried leaving one of the trays without any litter in? This would then be a smooth surface, just like the bath :)

What really puzzles me is that he is happy to 'go' in either litter tray? then elects to use the bath? I need to think about this. from a feline point of view! I wish I had one!

I had to laugh today - Barnes was kipping on the kitchen windowsill and No 1 son decided to have a bit of fun with him. He started making those 'farty' noises with his hands and Barnes looked startled, then offended and came off the windowsill and walked behind a clear plastic bottle of lemonade and sat behind it - obviously under the delusion he couldnt be seen! then kept peering round the bottle at No1 son. DG and I were giggling away! even 5 yr old DG said to Barnes 'Its no good Barnes - we can SEE you!!!!!!!'
it was a lovely afternoon, quite warm, so Barnes, OH and I sat out on the decking for an hour or so! Barnes kept getting up and peering in through the French doors! no idea what that was about!
OH checked his fur and he really has been bitten a lot - lots of scabs which seem to be coming off and a bit of flea dirt! OH found one live flea - bit concerned as the spot on and household spray SHOULD have done their thing by now! I may use the little bit left in the can to 'redo' the house tomorrow. perhaps I missed a bit?

When did you last treat Barnes and the house? With the flea life cycle it's not uncommon for a few more to be found lurking.
My Lily goes outside and has monthly spot-on, I wouldn't be concerned if I found one or two on her because the flea has to bite, then ingest the poison, and then die. So it's quite possible to catch one somewhere in that process.
I would keep an eye out for more fleas on Barnes and the amount of flea dirt, if you feel it hasn't changed then treat the house again but right now personally I wouldn't.

just about a week ago now. There was more left in the can of staykill than I expected - but, its a lot larger can than the Acclaim I normally used to use. I was a bit worried I hadn't used enough - but sprayed all carpeted surfaces and was especially thorough where he likes to kip and groom!

Just read the whole thread. If he can't get on with the litter tray maybe you could train him to use this: I don't know a lot about cats but saw it in the DM.

its a thought tesuhoha - but fingers crossed either the booby traps or OH going into meltdown on Thurs seems to be working. he uses BOTH trays! perhaps I just needed to learn how to build better booby traps that he sets off jumping in the bath! because I have managed to do it to allow no gaps at the side he can get through.
BTW first cat, who was mainly an outdoor cat, would use the toilet if he was 'caught short'! we didn't teach him to - he just did it! and as I remember OH was a bit put out about that!

I couldn't get his Sheba Turkey in white sauce up the shop today (he has had chicken applaws two days running) so taken a chance on the Salmon in jelly one. I mean Barney's not OH! He ate most of it - I just hope its ok on his tummy.

Have you thought about a cover over the bath?
