    Poo Wars - Meritaten 6 - Barney 0

We had a really good grooming session today - bit of flea dirt where I saw that flea - but I couldn't see a live flea (or even a dead one). hopefully the Staykill is doing its job! must do - I come down every morning to dead bodies! mostly those 'granny greys' as we call them. you know, the ones that look like little armadillos! sometimes flies and spiders.

lol, Barnes thinks that if I stretch out on sofa, I am in need of a 'cat massage'. I was stretched out this afternoon (think I am coming down with a cold - I felt a bit unwell), with my eyes shut and I had nine pounds of Persian jump on my tummy! The massage was nice though! I wonder if ..............if I stretch out on the floor, face down, will I get a back massage? worth a try!
yes he does weigh nine pounds now. weighed him this evening. jeez what a palaver, and all because I asked OH to help! usually I just get on scales with Barnes in my arms and note the weight, then I let Barney go and deduct the difference. Simples yes?
OH must have got on and off the scales about four times, then once with Barney - who doesn't like OH picking him up - and I just caught the weight,,,,,or did I? OH argued like mad I had his weight wrong - jeez, worse than a Bridezilla at Weightwatchers! No1 son and his wife were listening and giggling!
had to resort to MY method in the end! as the pack was easier to read in pounds and ounces I did it that way. so he is just under 3K. not as much as I would like - but not as bad as he looks!

    just musing now.............
When we had First Cat, Timothy, I used to buy Johnsons Flea powder and he wore a Johnsons flea collar. I can never remember having a problem with fleas with him. Second Cat Nicki - I used Frontline - and again no flea probs (Nicki was FIV though and he was always 'scabby').
Then Felix came as a 'Houseguest' for a few months - and although treated regularly with Frontline Spot on - we had a massive infestation of fleas. Acclaim did its job there!

My local shop seems to have withdrawn all its Johnson products (left the Bob Martins though), the owner wasn't there tonight so when I see him I will be 'having words'!
Except for the roundworm tabs! thank the goddesses! I seem to have nabbed the last pack! or it was overlooked, and Barnes has been treated as I spotted a roundworm in his poo today!

I will leave the tapeworm treatment until it is due next month, unless I think he needs it earlier .............unless someone can advise me differently?
I need now to find a stockist of Johnsons Flea Powder for cats - hopefully it will work! as I am still not sure he is entirely rid of fleas!

lmao - I wanted to make sure Barnes ate a good meal after his worming tabs - which I hid in bits of his 'Treat Sticks', so I 'dinged' his supper for a few seconds to 'warm it up and release the aromas'. OH thought this was OTT! DIL thought it funny too!
What's funny about it? Barnes likes his food at more than room temp! and if it tempts him to eat I don't mind doing it!
OH suggested I light some candles in the Victorian Lustres for Barnes while I am at it, but that IS OTT! rofl!

I always use flea and worm products that the Vet prescribes and to their direction. I think if Barnes has shown some sensitivity Vet guided treatment would be best.

This is one of those things where money isn't the first priority IMO :)

PS I have read numerous and numerous reports that Frontline has become ineffective.

Do you have a Pets at Home near you, Meritaten? I'm sure they stock Johnson's products, might be worth looking online at their web site.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

I second this for the first treatment only. After that you can then buy what they recommend cheaper over the net.

I also keep reading that many have had to change from frontline to advantage.

Have you looked online to see where you can buy Johnsons flea products? I know pets at home stock them instore and online. I use the flea tablet to kill the little darlings then the next day apply a spot-on to hopefully keep them at bay.

yes - I am sure vet has seen cat recently.

String is good - but I knit a lot and don't really want to have Barney thinking I am playing when I am trying to knit! (from experience I don't think cats know the difference between string and wool).

Hey! I could knit him some toys! now I need to search t' net for patterns! Many thanks Bagpussbear! I didn't think of that!

    Knit the cat some toys!

Poo War - Meritaten 7 Barney 0! a whole week! and he has stopped complaining about it!

lol - Barnes decided I was boring again so sat in front of OH and meowed politely. OH ignored him so he Yowled! OH says 'Barney wants something'!
'Yes, he prob wants you to give him a treat stick'. so I go and fetch treat stick and OH feeds it to him (I couldn't hear what he was saying to him).
I announce 'Supper' to OH and .....................nothing.
    rather louder 'SUPPER!'
OH says 'be there in a min - the cats on my lap'!

    !!!!!!! Barnes doesn't do lapsitting!

but the best bit is - OH got up to fetch his supper (he was having it in front of TV tonight) and Barnes sneaked into his seat - so OH relocated! rofl - Atrix will appreciate what a concession OH made to Barnes!

yes - I think PAH does too - I tend not to go into town very often, being MSE I like to go when my shopping list REQUIRES a trip to town!
