Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

big mistake today - Grandtwins had a bath and I forgot to go reset the boobytrap - of course Barnes took full advantage! OH was mad as fire!
it was my fault of course - so we are back to stage one!
arrrggh - I found another 'live' flea on him this evening! I suspect something isn't working! Never, ever, had this before - to spot on AND spray the house - usually all fleas were eradicated within a couple of days - its been over a week!
and I have an itchy bite - woke up with it and as Barnes sleeps with me .................!
Today is a bad day!
on the plus side, Barnes actually looks a bit better! his fur is growing back nicely and most of his scabs are dropping off! he is eating like a navvy and drinking more. (water).
He still wont 'lapsit'. tried putting him on my lap for strokes and he just jumps straight off - then straight back onto sofa to sit beside me! oh well! last cat was the same!0 -
Just checking in for my daily update of poo wars0

How about using capstar or Johnsons4fleas on him Meri?
It is a different drug than the spot ons so wont overload him, only kills adult fleas, but dose can be repeated?

ty Paddypaws - you are full of good advice - can you come stay with me?
my local shop actually stocks the Johnsons one - I haven't thought of using it cos its 'cheap as chips'!
I think I am getting there with the 'poo war'! providing bath is well booby trapped, he just complains loudly, then mutters a bit and chooses a litter tray to poo in! he isn't fussy which one but, funnily enough, yesterday he chose the covered tray and today the open one! I do hope he isn't expecting me to provide a tray for EVERY day of the week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
youngest GS was here earlier for a couple of hours while his parents did a 'bit of shopping' - he hates shopping so usually prefers to stay with me. Barnes was delighted at first - then GS started playing 'rugby' in the living room with OH (I aint stupid - I bought them a really small soft foam rugby 'ball'), so Barnes retreated to the stairs. GS decided he wanted to play on the computer then - so brought up Cbeebies for him, as soon as Barnes realised GS was staying put (and harmless) he jumped onto the desk then over the monitor and sat peering over the top of it at GS! he stayed there for an hour! motionless, just staring at GS who totally ignored him!0 -
aargghh GS must have taught Barnes how to turn my screen upside down! GS had a habit of doing that last year - and it isn't easy getting it right side up again! was working on Family History and I went to make a cuppa and heard keyboard clicking and was just in time to see Barnes jump off it - and display went T!Ts up! Even I don't know the 'shortcut keys' to turn the page upside down! but a child and a cat can do it so I feel rather dumb now!0

I'm guessing you've probably already done it but just in case you haven't. If I remember correctly you press ctrl, alt and arrow key at the same time. Can't remember if it's the up or down arrow key though, been a few years since I did it.0

Hi meritaten,
Catching up after my hols. Don't stress too much at having fleas, my vet says there's been some kind epidemic this summer. I've been fighting a losing battle with them for months, trying different spot-ons and sprays. Harley the kitten seems to be breeding the little blighters, I find them on him daily! When it gets excessive I use Johnsons4fleas tablets as it kills them within an hour or two without all the combing. Spot ons are having little effect.
Sorry you've not quite conquered the bath problem but I have amusing images of booby trapped baths in my mind0 -
I think the best thing would be to leave the plug in at the bottom of the bath and a little covering off water at the bottom. I really doubt once he jumps in and lands on the water he's gonna wanna poo in it
I'm quite jealous your cat poos in the bath actually, 1 of mine likes to pee in random places - and I swear he's done in it my bedroomCannot find it though even after washing the carpet

thanks Buttons - I was wondering whether to do this when I remove the 'boobytraps'! because I will have to at some stage! OH is getting a bit fed up of taking them off when he has his shower after work - then I have to dash up and set it all back up again ASAP!0
