Oh Mer, I feel for you, had similar problems last year getting my bathroom done and worst of all the plumber was a 'friend' whom I can honestly say will not be doing any more plumbing in my house :p I hope the shower head is now where it should be and the riser rail is now the right way up! Pretty awful mistakes from someone who should be experienced :( Can hubby finish it off for you?

Glad your birthday celebrations went well, ours did too. Been a busy week so not managed to really get on here, dd had her university interview and I was a nervous wreck  however, she did really well and has received a conditional offer so she is thoroughly delighted, next day she had her Higher Music exam, so as you can imagine again I am a nervous wreck, jeez I'm sure I do the worrying for the whole family :rotfl:(Glad to say that it went really well though)

Hope you've had a better week but I can't see it having been that good if your bathroom isn't moving along, keeping my fingers crossed that you've had a wee miracle and it's almost done xx

mr D!ckhead builder will be told to [...].

I may as well have let OH have done it - this guy is his twin, only with forty years 'experience' of fitting bathrooms kitchens and general building work.

Kinda makes me glad I can do some of these jobs myself - Been busy the last few weeks ripping out an open fireplace ready to slot a woodburner in. Several wheelbarrow loads of rubble later, and quite a bit of cement/concrete, I'm finally ready for the final fit. Going to pay someone to install the flue as it needs to be certified (and I hate working off ladders).

Will also be getting a professional in to do the plastering, and have been recommended a guy to do the work - Have seen what he has done to a neighbour's house, and it is one of the best jobs I've seen (a lot better than I could ever do).
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

    Debt-free and Proud!
It's snowing here today. Harley went out this morning, did two laps of the garden, a "security check" of the back ginnel then came back in and went up to bed. My cats are no fun :(

Yip his missus, I've got their best friends here! The last time it snowed they wouldn't venture near the door, although Charlie did try to 'catch' a few flakes through the window lol xx

lol - Barnes went out this morning and was sat there on the decking - I suddenly noticed it was 'hailstoning' so went to French doors to call him in ...................and he was in before I had completely opened the door! he doesn't like hail! though the stupid cat was sat out in it!
nope - bathroom nowhere near finished.
D!ckhead builder thinks that he will be back in work on Monday..... he is having a hernia operation! he will NOT be lifting and fitting new toilet and basin, and I am not sure that finishing the tiling and grouting it all will not be too risky! My insurance will definitely not cover that if he causes himself major injury. I may be too soft, but I cannot let a person hurt themselves over my bathroom. I will break it to OH gently that WE will have to complete the job - the major stuff has been done anyway.
The council house next door is having a major refit this week - between the noise from MY work and next door - Barnes is really stressed! I couldn't in all conscience subject him to a vet visit too - I am hoping that next week I can take him up.

Hi Mer, hope your getting on ok with the bathroom and your noise from next door is finished. Poor Barnes and you are having a rough time! Need to make an app for my two for the vet for their annual jags and tbh I'm dreading it! They are both a total nightmare to get into the carrier and the car journey seems to be traumatic...thank goodness we only live literally 1 min away by car :rotfl:don't think they would cope if it was any longer, they wail like a banshee and I now have to take them separately. I'm normally sweating buckets by the time I'm finished, but hubby is helping this time and he has no idea what's in store for him :D

hi nonnie - oh poor you! barnes goes to vet without too much fuss - but he doesn't like it. particularly the temperature taking - the look of deep offence on his face is quite funny!
I had to laugh yesterday - I had just finished my lunch and Atrix came in, so I put my empty plate and tray on the worktop. Sat down and was chatting to Atrix when I noticed Barnes jumping up onto the worktop, only he landed on the edge of the tray, flipped it up and my plate went flying over onto the other worktop!!! took a chunk out of it! but the best part was that as the tray flipped up Barney just adjusted his jump to clear the tray too!lol

oh dear - I do wish OH wouldn't try to 'fix' minor problems. The new loo cistern was dripping ever so slightly from the joint on the pipe when filling......OH decides to fix it - and I heard the water hitting the bathroom ceiling from downstairs! OH comes running down swearing a blue streak, runs out of front door - turns and runs back in - then dashes into utility - runs back out again (very reminiscent of corporal Jones in dads army), shouts 'where is the stopcock key'.........to which I reply 'In the kitchen where you left it'. he gets it and runs back upstairs. I follow him up and my bathroom is flooded. of course there is no vinyl down, so all the floor boards and hardboard is soaked. I come back downstairs because I am trying not to laugh at him - and have a good giggle in the kitchen. ooooKKKaaay, he comes down and I have to point out that the light fitment in the kitchen is full of water! cue the corporal jones bit again! mad dash out to the outerhouse and he turns off all the electricity, runs through the house to get his torch from the van - runs back to get van keys - runs out to van again and gets torch. unscrews light fitting and we both get drenched - it was like standing in a cold shower! rofl by this time I am weak with laughter!
It shouldn't be funny - but it IS! he still hasn't managed to fix it - and has somehow bu99ered up the dining room light too! he has been tinkering with the lectrics for about four hours tonight now - I think I may have to find an electrician!

Oh Mer, I know I shouldn't laugh.....but I'm chuckling away here! Poor man, did he realise that you were laughing at him? I'm a bit like that when it comes to disasters, I end up laughing when I probably shouldn't but sometimes I just can't help it!

Hope it doesn't take long for everything to dry out, you really didn't need that to happen on top of eveything else.

Can manage to fix your worktop? Go Barnes clearing the tray, think he's part Olympian lol xx

Hi Mer, hope everything is ok with you, I've had the dreaded lurgy since Saturday and it's really floored me. Seems to be loads of bugs going around here at the moment and if you haven't caught something your doing really well! xx
