Oh Meri, it seems Scrappy's been bitten by a flea. He's got 2 "dots" on his back which he's obviously been scratching at and he's started pulling his fur out again :( I can't find any fleas (or even flea dirt) on him or the others though. He's become really clingy again too, he woke me up last night pawing at me and trying to get under the duvet.

He's back on the Zylkene (much cheaper than going to the vets for Ovarid) a week of that usually breaks the routine and calms him.

I hope you didn't get any damage from the storm Meri, it looked awful on the news, we actually had some sun today and it was lovely, blooming freezing but lovely!

I hope Scrappy is feeling better his missus, I feel really bad for both you and Meri as my two are never bothered with fleas, bites etc, when I first got them they had dirty ears and mites but not since then so I'm very lucky xx

hi all - Barnes has been very quiet the last few days - not done much but sleep and eat! oh and scratch! he has a few bare patches now - put aloe vera gel on them, and grooming him thoroughly. Bit busy at the moment as we are about to have a new bathroom fitted - starting tomorrow. getting rid of the giant litter tray (bath), and just having a shower. bathroom completely re-tiled, new basin and loo and even a new door!
will have to relocate litter trays tomorrow and show barnes where they are..................um, OH didn't think about toileting requirements for us humans - I may have to make do with a potty!
New neighbours moved in next door but one on the weekend. I know its judgemental of me, but I took one look and thought ''OH, OH - TROUBLE''!
well, I may be right, every day since, the music goes on at 11.00am and doesn't stop til about 11.00pm, and I can hear it through the walls, even though all windows and doors are shut and so are thiers! I dread the summer when the windows etc will be open.
and their language!!!! the eff word and the cee word every other word!
Not used to it, as the previous tenant was an older man who was a gent.
Funnily enough Barnes hasn't spent much time outside in the last few days either. Even though its been dry and sunny mostly!
Had Barnes booster reminder yesterday - that's due in March so will make appointment for the beginning of the Month. busy this week and OH on call next week, so cant guarantee I can get him up vets earlier anyway.
  • Oh Meri, I'm really sorry about the neighbours that sounds awful! I assume that they don't work either, is it a private let or can you complain to the council?

Good luck with the new bathroom, I hope it all runs smoothly, not sure I'd be ok with the human potty though :rotfl:

Keep your fingers crossed for us for tomorrow, back to court for the 3rd time for the supposed breach of bail, hopefully it'll be dealt with this time xx

Hope everything gets sorted tomorrow Nonnie so you can all put it behind you xx

Our new neighbours but one sound like they have a dog, not seen it at all but I've heard one barking a few times. It sets off the Yorkie terrier next door if she's in the garden which scares Harley. Daft really as Harley isn't remotely bothered by my mum's big, clumsy dog (though he's familiar to Harley now) and the Yorkie could fit under Harley!
We weighed Harley this morning and he's 13lbs according to my scales, seems heavy for a cat but he does have long legs I suppose.

hi nonnie - tbh I am not sure which of several men actually live there! so many of them going back and forth! the blonde lady is definitely the tenant though and I think there is a preteen girl - I know which house up in the village they previously rented - trying to think if I know any of their previous neighbours. just to find out if my suspicions are correct. Its a council house - a few years back they tried to offload their housing stock onto a HA - but there were so many objections they abandoned that plan! tbh - I really don't care what people do in private in their own homes - just as long as it doesn't impact me! when it does, I don't get mad - I get even! I am hoping the constant music all day is because the girl is on half term - if not, well, I will take action then. its my neighbour I feel sorry for - though we don't speak, I know he is very quiet and set in his ways. but, he is rather peculiar and can turn on you in a second.
jeez I make it sound like I am living on a sink estate - it aint like that! just a normal terraced street - where mostly people are quite considerate of the neighbours.
How did your nephew get on in court?

his missus - the invisible dog sounds a nuisance too! hopefully the next door dog will soon settle down when the barking becomes familiar to it.
13lb? that is quite heavy - but it does depend on breed and bone density and structure - Barnes weighs about that - most of it must be his front paws - they are massive! not to mention all his fur!

This is Harley with Scrappy. He is quite a bit longer/taller than the others, although Scrappy looks a right shrimp on this photo.

He does seem to have gained weight since he returned home but he only eats kibble and a couple of treats whilst the others have breakfast/tea and he's certainly more active than the others.

ETA: Sorry the photo is enormous but I can't seem to shrink it!!!

Awwww his missus - that photo is just toooooo cute! Two very happy felines! I see your two has nice normal 'neat' feet! lol.

actually I just popped in to check if Nonnie had updated us. nope, so I now fear the worst - jeez I am a pessimist today!
OH and I cut Barnes claws today - he was using them a bit too enthusiastically on OHs thighs (never mind I have been saying Barnes is Velcro-ing himself to the carpet) so they had to be done ASAP!

I'm so annoyed, I posted a reply late last night and it's disappeared! Sorry about that, I came home from court on thursday with a massive stress headache and it only started to clear last night so I apologise for not posting before then. Well I think my heart was pounding out of my chest and I don't think it could have been a closer call but Owen's case was found ' Not Proven' which in Scotland is pretty much the same as not guilty in that he was free to go but only because their was reasonable doubt. Our lawyer was caught up in a trial from the day before so sent his son instead who knew nothing about the case. Twice he took Owen away and asked him to change his plea to guilty as he thought they were going to lose, we were all so very angry, it was awful. The lawyer forgot to mention a crucial piece of evidence regarding timing and that is what nearly lost us the case, it was just a really horrible day and the judge's verdict was that by a 'very fine margin' he found that the Crown had not proved their case and that Owen was 'entitled to the benefit of the doubt' which he gave to him and said that he was free to go, he didn't chastise Owen in any way and almost looked sympathetically towards him, I really believe that he knew he was innocent but had to go with the evidence in front of him. I don't think I've ever been so relieved in all of my life!

As we were leaving the court our actual lawyer turned up and nearly died when he realised that the case had already happened, I think he fully expected that the accusers wouldn't turn up again, (daddy accuser had actually been in jail for the last month and was probably the only reason he was there) this is no doubt why he thought sending his son would be fine as there would be no trial as such. So I grabbed the lawyer and told him exactly what happened and why we nearly lost and although I was polite I was fuming and he knew it!

Sorry for the rant, I really just need to move on now and hope the appeal against last years conviction hurries up. My brother has written an email to the lawyer thanking him for his services but pointing out that this should never have happened, and 2 different people have said that he should report the young lawyer for trying to get Owen to change his plea, but tbh I think they just want to focus on the appeal and the fact that they have managed to buy a new house and move next month which is fab.

I will give you a laugh though, daddy accusers was called back to court as we were leaving and hubby and a few others stayed behind to hear what happened. This was because he had failed to turn up the previous twice and was charged with that, he firstly stated that he had not received the citations, then said that he had to babysit, then said that he didn't want to see his daughter reliving the whole episode (my ar@e!! :D) then finally admitted to the judge that he had received both citations and lied about it, well apparently the judge absolutely roasted him about it and sentenced him to 14 days - unfortunately backdated so he was released, plonker!

So again I apologise for ranting and for not posting earlier, rant officially over and thank you both so much for your kind wishes and concern :)

That's 2 beautiful cats that you have his missus, real cuties.

Hope the music will calm down this week Meri with the schools going back.

Any suggestions to get my 2 to stop from clawing my carpet? I was thinking about getting a spray with a smell to deter them, they do it during the night so I don't hear them and they are going to wreck my living room carpet that's only a year old, can't close the door over either as Sam just head butts it open :rotfl:

Any suggestions gratefully received and if you've managed to read all the way to here then you are a saint :A thank you!! xx

What a relief Nonnie! Shame about the wannabe lawyer though. Lets hope this has taught him a lesson?

Sorry cant help with the carpet clawing - Barnes will do it too! usually when he comes in from the garden - its almost like he is warming his paws! and there is plenty of wooden stuff out there he could sharpen his claws on but he doesn't bother.
