Very blowy up here, no damage thank goodness, just bins blown over, trains off etc, due to be worse on Monday so I'll be glad when it's all past over. Hope you didn't have any damage either xx

Well we suddenly had a 'For Sale' sign in the garden! it had blown off a house way up the street.
its not been too bad - but the rain is another matter. I have never, ever, in all my years, known so much rain in such a short time. you wouldn't believe how many people are complaining of water ingress - including us! the rain hits the back wall of the house and the bricks are saturated. so the water is finding its way through the pointing and down the cavity and we have mould and plaster coming off and little puddles of water inside.
its a losing battle trying to dry it out - no sooner do you dry the plaster than its bucketing down again and getting sopping wet.
I think that may be why Barnes is scratching so much - he isn't getting his 'garden time' - some days he cant go out at all!
he has a huge bare patch now on his shoulder - must put some aloe vera on it again before bed. and those specialist cat fur brushes - they are so expensive, but I think I may have to get one.

I hope everyone 'north of me' has a safe night! another storm again.
even my mums house has been affected we find. and that has stood for over a hundred years without being affected by the weather. I went up there today and the sound of the wind howling round it brought back a lot of childhood memories. Mums house is right on top of the hill between the two valleys - mine is about halfway up. always said it was two coats colder up there!
but I have never known any damp in the house - OH thinks a slate may have slipped slightly. Bro is getting a roofer he knows to come look - but, obviously we cant expect him to clamber over a roof in gale/storm force winds!
Barnes is ok but the ear mites are back! prob why he is scratching so will HAVE to put the drops in - I better stock up on Dreemies as he bluddy hates me doing that!

Aaww Meri that's a nightmare with the water coming in! I hope it calms down soon and we get a spell without rain and wind. The winds tonight are the worst so far but I'm hoping to sleep through it :p

Poor Barnes, I hope the aloe vera helps xx

Oops crossed posts, that's a shame about your mums house and I have total sympathy for Barnes and his ears, although thank goodness my two haven't been bothered with them for ages xx

I worry about mums house -old houses deteriorate very quickly if nobody is living in them. I can smell damp when I go in (when I cant smell 'Pledge'). There is no sign of anyone interested in Sons house so its going to be a while before they can purchase mums. Its a very slow housing market here - has been for a few years now - except for the new 'executive' housing estates for those not able to afford 'City' Prices. we are only 25 mins away from two cities............so highly desireable, but only for 'new builds with four bedrooms and ensuite'! or McMansions as I call them!

Barnes charmed more delivery guys today. had BBQ deliver my bathroom tiles and the one delivery guy was very taken with him. Barnes was polite as usual, delivery guy taken with him! lol.

Son came down with his neighbour who I am helping with complaint about HA...............She thinks he is gorgeous too! but then, she is a 'catlady'! has a few of her own.

I think the ear mite problem is getting better but I do need more spot ons and worming tabs, so may book him an appointment anyway as I want his 'heart murmer' checked.

It's been ages since I posted, do still read digests however. But reading about the heart murmur, I wanted to just say do take him in. As you'll know, there are grades to them, and they do need regular checking to make sure they don't change grades.

Tribbles has one, a low grade one, but sadly we also discovered he has another heart issue, so currently the murmur for him is not really an issue any more. It's likely the other heart problem will be the problem.

So after all that, emergency vet stay overnight etc, and a failed attempt with heart pills, he was really quite down, so I was "persuaded" to get him a friend. To be fair he picks up at my parents house with their cats, not that they are all lovey, but he likes having feline friends around. So I've ended up with another cat. Alfie, who is actually an oldie at 17 years old. He was at the local shelter, after his elderly owner died, so he deserved a nice home for the rest of his life. I know he's not going to last a long time, but then I've accepted that neither will tribbles, as the pills he should be on, he won't take them. Can't say they love each other, alfie can be a bit jealous of tribbles, and oh dear, alfie came with a food issue, which I'm trying to sort currently. He's on tummy helping biscuits and cooked fish diet. The results of wet cat food were undesirable for all of us :D

He's lovely, but hard work. However, he loves being groomed, and I love to groom him, it's nice to have a cat who loves that, and loves me for doing it! (he came well tatted up, and has a few chunks of fur missing where we/they had to cut some off due to the state he was in)

Thank you Lifeforms - Barnes has a 'Slight' heart murmer according to the three different vets who have seen him. needs keeping check on but not needing medication or anything. his last check was just four or five months back so may as well be a bit early for one. Also, I would like vet to check ears and make sure its only ear mites and there isn't any other problem. Neurotic Cat mummy, I am!

another fine weekend in store - NOT! you all stay warm and safe now!

I couldn't let Barnes out today - Storm force winds here! I would have had to go looking for him in the next town up the valley! the bins were blowing down the street and parents were clutching onto their kids going to school! it was DANGEROUS out there!
usually I am rather scathing about the way winter rain and winds are now being referred to as Storm Abigail or Storm Imogen.....but this WAS a storm.
oh and to add insult to injury - I put drops in his ears again today because those bluddy mites haven't really cleared up!
