  • I wish it had Mer but one of my other nephews overheard father and son talking and son saying 'That had guilty written all over it, can't believe we got it' so probably not but it's best just to move on I think.

Sorry you have the same problem with Barnes, must try to get a spray this week and see what happens, the two little darlings have wrecked a tread on my stair carpet already so I need to find something before I replace that, still love them though lol xx

Any suggestions to get my 2 to stop from clawing my carpet? I was thinking about getting a spray with a smell to deter them, they do it during the night so I don't hear them and they are going to wreck my living room carpet that's only a year old, can't close the door over either as Sam just head butts it open :rotfl:

Put a piece of hessian carpet down (upside down) for the cats to claw. My cat won't use the scratching post, but she does love a small rug that I put down for her.
Her courage will change the world.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Nonnie, I'm so glad it's over and you can all start to move on.

I have some flat scratchers you place on the floor similar to this

as Harley and Tikka like to stretch out rather than stretch up scratch.
  • Thanks his missus! :)

It's been lovely weather up here today and it looks like it's staying for a few days, really cold but lovely and sunny. Charlie even ventured out today which is impressive as my two tend to hibernate over the winter lol. How is everyone else fairing weather wise?

Thanks for the tip Freebear xx

I will be extremely glad when my bathroom refit is finished - its really stressing Barnes out! for a start his litter trays are in the 'wrong place', although he has been really good and used them (he wont when the workmen are here), you can see he isn't happy - he doesn't like the noise and disruption one bit! he looks like he has a headache and doesn't really seem himself until they leave for the day! then he has a whinge at me! and he has scratched out loads of his fur! poor baby - I want to give him cuddles and he is having none of that! its my fault I expect!
I am hoping its just going to take a couple more days now - I am having an 18th Birthday buffet lunch for my oldest grandchild on Sunday and it would be nice to have the bathroom done by then!
  • I just hate having workmen in the house, but then again who doesn't! Poor Barnes, he has my sympathy, my two turn into absolute wrecks when someone visits and if we are getting carpets fitted it's a total nightmare. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all completed before Sunday. Are you happy with the way it's looking so far?

Both furry babies actually ventured outside today, not for very long but I think they enjoyed the fresh air. How's your weather been lately Mer, we're really quite cold but dry and not windy and it's great, nearly time to hang the washing out I hope. We have one of the affected tumble dryers and it's a nightmare drying bedding without it, hubby just wants me to use it but I really don't and will only use it if he's home to deal with any potential fire  Hope you don't have one xx

hi nonnie - no the bathroom is nowhere near completed! I am ppeeeed off - I kept a timesheet for the workman this week and in five days he has been here the grand total of 20 and a half hours! he keeps bu99ering off. OH wont say anything to him because he is a 'mate'. but, this could have been completed by now. I have a quarter of a tiled bathroom and the new shower enclosure, but he only grouted half the tiles this afternoon. new basin and loo not installed yet. grrrrh - if it was up to me I would have sacked him!
its cold here but not windy. not great drying weather. using the tumble dryer at the moment. not one of the affected ones - mine is about 15 years old and only ever had to have a new filter cos the original one ripped.

Oh Meri I don't know how your coping! That's a bit much to put up with and not having a toilet is a nightmare. I hope he bucks up a bit next week and gets it finished and I'm sure it'll look lovely once it's completed.

That's a good machine you've got there to last 15 years, I'm very impressed. I needed to put mine on this morning as it's ds's 14th birthday and I wasn't having wet washing hanging around the house
I hope you have a nice day tomorrow with your family, we also have another 2 family birthdays tomorrow, seems to be a popular day! Have a good weekend xx

lol - good thing I didn't let him take out the loo then! told them he could do that ONLY when he was ready to tile the wall and that it was to be the last wall to be done! so hopefully, fingers (and legs probably) crossed I will be able to manage somehow. my elderly neighbour wont mind if I pop in to use her downstairs loo (lucky woman - her son had it installed where I have my utility space).
end of February seems to be a popular week for birthdays - the card shop was really busy today!

Well, its Monday and after a very busy weekend (catering for a family party for my grandson) I finally found time to shower this morning....... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so got mad instead!
been so busy that I didn't know what was bugging me about the shower, and its because the stupid builder had put the shower head less than six inches away from the side wall - and I have one of the larger shower heads so had to squeeze into the corner of the shower!!!! and I bought the wider cubicle because I like plenty of elbow room!!!!
Honestly! I didn't say anything to him today because I wanted to get OHs view first - and he admitted he thought it a bit odd.
mr D!ckhead builder will be told to move it first thing tomorrow. He spent nearly all day here, which is a record - and found out why later when he was chatting to OH. he has to go into hospital on Friday for his op and down the hospital for his pre-op checks on Thurs afternoon. and the bathroom is nowhere near finished!
honestly, this guy has to be watched like a hawk or he will 'bodge job' it! he even got the shower riser rail on upside down -so he can fix that too.
makes me wish I had stuck with the old version bathroom........I may as well have let OH have done it - this guy is his twin, only with forty years 'experience' of fitting bathrooms kitchens and general building work.
