Still no sign of him and I've run out of places to search so I've resigned myself to the fact he'll not be coming home now. :(

I've cleaned out his "cat cave" under the stairs where he lived/hid from Hubby, as heartbreaking as it was. I've stopped crying when I think about him now though.

awwwww - I am so sorry his missus. it must be doubly hard on you for not knowing exactly where he is, and whether he is alive and ok. Do you think someone local may have taken him in? under the impression he is a stray/sick cat? I am sure you have already phoned local vets though.

I'm so sorry his missus, my old Charlie cat was about 15 and went missing for about 5 days, I was distraught and suddenly I heard her outside, a wee bit shaken and hungry but ok, so I'm keeping everything crossed for you xx

I'm so glad that your happy with your bathroom and I love turquoise, sounds just lovely! Collecting dd's prom dress in a few weeks and it's a bright bluey turquoise....also her favourite colour xx

Casper had a collar with 2 ID tags on (one for the cat flap with Hubby's details, the other's one of those barrel ones with ours and the vets details) but he's not chipped. If he's lost his collar and someone's found him I'd imagine any vet would put him to sleep. We were discussing it the night he disappeared as he was beginning to look ill. I've called our vets and the other local one.

Oh my gosh! Casper came home last night! We went out for a walk and I'd just stepped back into the house when Hubby exclaimed, "Casper's there!" He ran off but reappeared at the back door a few minutes later. I can't believe it.

He doesn't look very well and he seems very sad and sorry for himself, if a cat can look sad and sorry for himself. We're phoning the vet today to see what they advise :(

ETA: Got a lunchtime appointment with the vet.

Woohoo!!!!! I'm so happy and relieved for you, when it was Charlie I think maybe she was stuck in somewhere so maybe somethings like that happened? No matter it's all good and I'm sitting here smiling like a crazy cat lady lol xxxx

I do wonder Nonnie if he's been trapped in someone's shed or yard as it was recycling day yesterday around our area.

Unfortunately, when Hubby went to take him to the vet at lunchtime he seemed to be struggling a bit with his back legs, like they didn't have the strength to support his back end . The vet confirmed what I'd been dreading and that the best thing for him was to have him PTS :(

I'm so sorry his missus, doesn't matter how much you expect this it's just an awful thing to go through. I'm so pleased for you that you had him back and that he would have felt all the love in the world from you before he passed, thinking of you xx

I don't know whether to be happy or sad for you his missus! on the one hand Casper is back - on the other hand your worst fears have materialised. Still, he IS back and you are not wondering whats happened to him - a comfort maybe?
He must love you all very much to return when he is so sick - I know of many cats who disappeared to die quietly.
My deepest sympathy hunny - its something every pet owner dreads.

I am glad he came back, it gives me closure. I did think he'd left to die quietly but that I would never know for certain. I didn't go to the vets with Hubby though, I said my goodbyes at home.

I've promised Hubby we'll stick to 3 cats for the time though. I'm not even going to try and "replace" Casper, he was unique.
