Thank you nonnie - but I know if I had asked my mother why she didn't keep 'my stuff' she would just have shrugged or said it was falling apart or just rubbish.
but what you said about my kids and grandkids loving me........Yes! they do and they make sure I know it. they tell me and show their love for me. so I am blessed really. and my kids and grandkids are the most important people in my life (Barnes is up there with them).
it was nice today but Barnes hardly went out - he mostly napped from his vantage point and watched Ava, he even went over to her a couple of times and did that cat thing of gently brushing past you? lol, but he made sure to do it to her BACK so she had no chance of grabbing him!
oh and nonnie - you aren't a 'total stranger' - you are a 'friend'.

Oh Meri, I'm sorry you feel like that. I think Nonnie put it perfectly. I really don't know what to say

rofl - she was over by the tv when her mum came to pick her up and Barnes was on the settee, Ava bumshuffled to her mum and Barnes looked on 'wide eyed'! as if he was thinking 'for chrissakes - shes human- they WALK'!

Barnes was probably thinking if she were a dog doing that she'd be off to the vets quick smart ;)

I split Harley and Scrappy up yesterday whilst we were out (from 12.30pm - 11pm) because Scrappy has been a little growly at Harley, I think Harley bugs him sometimes. Anyway we got in, they both ran out of the front door and started chasing each other around the Close, in a friendly manner. perhaps they missed each other :)

Another thing I've noticed about Harley is whenever he comes in, he always comes in miaowing until one of us says something (usually "Hello Harley") I wonder if it's his way of letting us know he's home? I wonder if he worries he'll get lost/stolen/whatever happened to him like we do?

thanks his missus - you are a good friend too!
Ava definitely fascinates and amuses Barnes. I think he can hardly wait for her to outgrow the 'grabbing' stage so he can play with her!
I think Harley is 'checking in' when he comes in! like: 'Hi folks, I am back safely, don't worry'!

rofl - the bloke came today to read the meters, gas is in utility room at the front and leccy is outside on the rear wall, so I let him walk through the house. I thought I would never get rid of him! he spotted Barney and was entranced! was stroking him and asking a million questions!!! he even got down on his hands and knees on my living room floor to pet Barnes and was 'cooing' over him!
Barnes has got a new admirer there! I couldn't help thinking 'should I tell him about the forum'??????? naw - he could be the stalker type and Barnes might get a tad pussed off! or, god forbid - KITNAPPED!

If you can buy a small wind up spider. My cat is 17 now and she still finds them amusing. A paper mouse attached to some thread is very cheap but entertaining too.

I think Barnes puts a spell on everyone but kitnapped doesn't bear thinking about

Gosh it won't be long till Ava is helping you play ping pong upastair and won't Barnes just be loving that!

I've never seen a wind up spider before bluelass, I think it would give me a heart attack every time I saw it, luckily sam is fab at eating any real ones so that suits us both fine lol xx

well we had a major 'clear out' of mums yesterday. my DD and DILs plus one of my sons and a grandkid or two went up and we divvied up all the 'stuff' that me and sis had put in boxes for them. Kitchen now clear of all the bits and bobs except for a couple of boxes for charity. meanwhile eldest grandson did his last 'gardener' job of the year (probably, unless we get a warm spell and the grass grows).
its just mums clothes and the big furniture items now and there is no rush.
took us ALL afternoon though, so Barnes had a rare Saturday afternoon on his own! OH was out at work until 7pm and then Barnes watched TV with him until bedtime.
YAY! Aldees has the dreamielookalikies back in stock! 40 pence cheaper than dreemees doesn't sound like much but when you go through 2 -3 bags a week over the year it adds up! not that Barnes cares - I just have to keep them coming!

I'll need to have another look at our local shop, the last time I checked they didn't stock them but I know sometimes the Scottish stores don't have all the same items.

Glad you managed to get all that done at your mums, I'm sure it was much easier with so many of you working together xx

nonnie - it was actually not so bad. For all her faults, if someone needed something mum would say 'oh, I don't use that - take it'. but she could be 'possessive' over her things. and even things of mine! me and sis were clearing out one cupboard and we came across an electric hand mixer - and I said jeez.......that's mine, I bought that when I lived here, because I got fed up beating butter and sugar together with a wooden spoon. sis said she could do with one so we plugged it in ..............and it WORKED! sis now has a mixer! mum had never used it. she didn't do baking. the mixer had to be from the seventies! works perfectly according to sis!

Aldees hadn't had the dreamielookalikies for a couple of months ......and you may find they come back into stock. Barnes cant seem to tell the difference - he loves them. but yes there are regional differences.

hi all - meant to post last night but didn't have time. Had Ava as usual in the morning and then had her and her bro for a sleepover for their mum and dad to go out.
all started well and Barnes lay on the pouffe to watch them, then decided to relocate to the settee besides OH - unfortunately DGS2 didn't see him and sat on him! Yowls of indignation (he wasn't hurt - DGS had realised before he put his full weight down), stalks off in a huff and retires to bed early! good thing it wasn't first cat Timmy - DGS would have had a bitten/clawed bum!
Barnes did decide to forgive (not sure about the forget bit) a couple of hours later and rejoined us after Ava had been put to bed. Peace and Harmony once more!

Atrix and family came for sunday lunch and brought their youngests friend with them. as they came in I heard a cry of 'How Cute', from our little guest, followed by 'will he let me stroke him'? she spent most of the visit playing with, stroking and grooming Barnes! who loved the attention. so we showed her how he plays 'catchthedreamies' - before she left she asked me if she could swap her kitten for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never known a cat who makes friends so easily! honestly, I am beginning to worry he may want to go home with one of his new admirers. Especially as I realise since mum died he hasn't had quite the same attention off me.
