Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

hi all- sorry for not posting the last few nights. just didn't feel there was anything 'newsy' or Barnes related to talk about.
not much today except that Barnes came and sat beside me and Ava and allowed her to stroke him - just the once! then retired to a safe distance to watch her.0 -
;)That's just not good enough, Meri! You tell Barnes to start "being more dog":D
Harley is full of beans at the moment. He's loving his freedom, he's not so keen on the rain though.0 -
lol, his missus! he has DOG written on his food and water dishes! simply because the normal cat bowls are too deep and small for him - with his flat face he could only get at a small portion in the very middle of the bowl. he has his dinner on his own special melamine plate.
poor thing got left out in the rain yesterday evening!!! eeeek - he was soaking wet! both OH and I thought he was upstairs...............it was only when I went to bed and no Barnables joined me did I get up and look for him! and you all know how much he hates being towelled off, so he sulked on the windowsill and refused to join me on the bed to punish me!
another reason I haven't posted much is I am so worried about my sister - and I had to speak to my kids before posting on Relationships and Families to ask for advice, I was afraid that I would blurt out what was on my mind on here before talking to them! Atrix is my son and I didn't want him reading about it before I spoke to him and I know my DD comes and reads posts but doesn't have an username.0 -
I noticed Barnes scratching his neck a lot and as he has had his flea spot-on..........oh oh - ear mites! yes again! went out and bought new ear mite drops (he HATES them), as soon as he spotted the bottle today he started backing away from me.
I think I had best not do 'ear mite treatment' when I do G&T, and find him a special treat for afterwards.
I also wanted to replace the 'mouse that's really a hedgehog' - and guess what? PAH didn't have any! the original one I bought him is leaking catnip and looking really tatty its been so well 'loved'. I do hope they will have them in soon!0 -
well, I had Ava last night for a sleepover and today she wanted her 'nap' quite early. usually she has a snack about 10.30 then a half bottle of milk about 10.45 and has her nap. today it was obvious she was tired at 10.00 so she had her milk and went to sleep. OH fed her and laid her down on settee and Barnes joined her! he walked round her then settled down at her feet (not touching but very close), and purred softly away the whole time she slept - as soon as she woke - he moved away from her!
god he hates those ear drops! he even refused to take dreamies as his 'reward' for afterwards! just went in garden to sulk! Has to be done though! he was more relaxed during G&T though a bit suspicious.0 -
well my bro and sis came to my house tonight for us to go through all my mothers old photos and sort out 'his, hers and mine' and bro and sis wanted some photos of mum and dad when they were first married/courting (loads of those as dad was a keen photographer). we have now taken to calling mum 'fag ash lil', as most of them seem to have her with ciggy in hand!
we came across one photo of me and my brother who was then aged about 10/11 months..........and Ava is the absolute spitting image of BRO! mum kept saying Ava reminded her of my bro - and although I could see a resemblance I didn't realise it was that strong! Bro has made a detour now on his way home to take the photo down to my son to show them.
Barnes was funny - the photos were in boxes and as soon as a box was emptied -he was in it! now if I gave him a box to play in, he would ignore it!
yesterday, while ava napped he cuddled up to her - awwwwwwww it was so sweet he gazed at her all the time she slept. he didn't purr though - perhaps he was afraid it would wake her because as soon as she showed signs of waking - he was off!0 -
How funny that your mum could see the resemblance and that she was spot on! It sounds as though you managed to have a wee laugh whilst going through the photos which always helps.
My two love cardboard boxes, Sam would sleep in it but unfortunately I can't really leave any around for him as Charlie just pees in them
Sorry I've been a bit awol recently, just lots of family stuff happening, hope you've been ok xx0 -
Ive been awol too!
am finding clearing mums house very difficult emotionally. for my sis its her memories. for me, I only lived there about 14 years so it isn't as hard. But, we went up last Friday and found a lot of 'MOMENTOES' my mother had kept - mostly to do with sis, but some of bros and NOTHING of mine. honestly, its as if I hadn't existed there. its upset me. she kept all of my sisters school photos, newsbooks and some of bros. she had everything my sis made her in school, a couple of things my brother had made (you know, the paper lanterns and mothers day cards, cotton wool snowmen, that kind of thing). but not one that I had given her, so both sis and I were in tears. she because the things brought back memories, and me because there weren't ANY i had made or given her. she had a box filled with my sisters childrens drawings, cards, gifts - but none from my kids. I am really battling my feelings here. i always knew that my baby sis was her favourite - her golden child - but, did i really mean so little to her?
sorry - so much angst here. but i find it difficult to get my head round this.
oh and Barnes is being his usual loving self - as the weather hasn't been so nice today, he is quite content to stay in and watch Ava between naps. and when SHE is napping he comes cuddle up to her.
rofl - she was over by the tv when her mum came to pick her up and Barnes was on the settee, Ava bumshuffled to her mum and Barnes looked on 'wide eyed'! as if he was thinking 'for chrissakes - shes human- they WALK'!0 -
I don't think that there is anything I can say other than that you have every right to feel the way that you do, I think anyone in the same position would feel exactly the same.
There surely must be some sort of explanation for all this and I would think that your mum would be horrified if she realised how devastated her actions have left you.
I'm quite sure that must means absolutely nothing coming from a total stranger but from reading your posts etc I think that you are a lovely woman with a very big, kind heart who loves her family and grandchildren very much and I'm positive that they appreciate and love you very, very much and perhaps you can take some solace in that. I hope I haven't offended you in anyway xx0 -
PS Loving Barnes reaction.....he always makes me smile! xx0
